When I try to log on the internet, I get an error that says IP address un recognized. When I run the command to renew the IP address , it says that a socket error or something.
View 2 RepliesI just wanted to know if it's possible to playback mkv's either 720p or 1080p using the media server built in to a E4200 and streamed to a ps3? Everything is setup, the ps3 can see twonky, and has access to the external HD connected to the E4200, but upon choosing any type of mkv all i get is unrecognized format.... Avi's and mp3's all seem to be okay, as does iso's. Only I thought I read somewhere that it supports streaming HD material. p.s. the E4200 came with the latest .13 firmware. although I didn't put it on there, as I picked it up cheaply as it was a returned unit to the store.as this is supposed to be an upgrade from a wrt54gr that was used with ps3mediaserver, but struggled with 1080p's.

View 1 Replies View RelatedFor the past week I've had a problem browsing the internet. Now, at first, this only happened starting at around 3 am central time and ending at about 6 am when I could browse the internet properly. As the days went forth, however, it began happening earlier at around 12 am. What would happen is this: would be on the internet browsing sites and whatnot. All of a sudden (As I'm loading a new page) I would get the "Address not found" error as if I'm not connected to the internet. I could try to reload any other page on my session,but sometimes it would halfway load (ei:not loading pictures, ect.) and other times I would get Address not found. This would go for about a 4 hour time period. After that, everything would be back to normal and I could go back on my session.
Now, I'm on my laptop via a router that is in my house. We also have a desktop computer, but I noticed this problem happening on my laptop first. When it first happened, it was only on my laptop. I had internet connection and could browse it endlessly on my desktop. As the days went on, however, my desktop started having the same problem connecting to the internet (I still noticed the problem on my laptop first and then I would go see if the desktop had it too).When this first happened, I was thinking my laptop wasn't connecting to my router. Instinctively, I reset the router to no avail. I also opened up IE (I don't use it much because it's just too slow) and tried to diagnose the problem using that. When I did this, it was giving me DNS as the problem of me not connecting to the internet. I am not a network admin so I don't know that much about DNS. I also used IE to diagnose the problem on the following days, but after the first time it only gave me a "You aren't connected to the internet" solution. Since then, I've been running a barrage of anti virus, rootkit, ect. just because I can and I haven't done it in a long time. I didn't find anything unusual in all the reports so I'm still not sure what the problem is.
I travel alot so to break up the boredom at the hotels i like to play on my xbox what would make it a whole lot more fun would be to play with my friends online. Problem is that my xbox does not have built in wifi and even with a wifi adapter hotel internet portals prevent from connecting automatically to internet without a browser. I have watched some video on youtube with different methods of using a laptop to connect via ethernet to your xbox and share the internet connection from the laptop. Is there a method that works with Vista? I keep getting a unable to get an ip address error on the xbox and not sure as to what to do.

On Google Chrome I see a screen saying 'This web page is not available', and receive 'Error 105: Unable to resolve the server's DNS address'. I cannot access Internet Explorer either.The strange this is that this problem only seems to occur with some wireless networks, as I can connect fine at home. In certain places, however, I am told that I am connected but that accss is 'Local Only', and I cannot open any browsers. I've run in to this on 3750G's in a various sized stacks. We apply port security for a mac address on a single port (not existing on more than one port - that's a different issue that appears in multiple posts already).In this case:
1) We do a 'sho mac address-table and see that the device with the mac address in question lives on one port, port 1/0/x.
2) We apply mac port security for this exact same mac address to the same port it is already attached to. switch(config)#int g2/0/2 switch(config-if)#switchport port-security mac-address 001a.1ec8.abcd
3) Get this error: 'Found duplicate mac-address 001a.1ec8.abcd'.We again confirm that that is the only port on the entire switch that has this mac-address.Try the command again, same error.
4) We do a bunch of show commands, get in and out of the switch, go back and then try it again, and now it works, same command, same port and same mac address.
-Aging is default 300
-These are Cisco wireless AP's attached to the switch
-This occurs on different switches with different ports using different mac addresses, always same symptoms.
I have a Netgear WNR612 wireless router, which worked fine for a few weeks. Then something happened and I can't keep the connection anymore. It happened right after I used iTunes to update my iPhone, perhaps a coincidence, but I'm mentioning that just in case. Internet still works fine with ethernet cable straight from the computer, only the wireless connection doesn't work. This happened about a month ago and I haven't been at home much to fix the problem. I have turned off and unplugged everything for several days at a time while gone. I get a Network Error message saying, Windows has detected an IP address conflict. I have tried restoring the router back to factory settings and reinstalling the wireless card. I have tried changing the IP address settings both in the Network and Sharing Center and the router admin page. What I think I should do is change the IP address in Command Prompt, but when I type "ipconfig /release", it says "No operation can be performed on Wireless Network Connection 2 while it has its media disconnected" and the same for Local Area Connection. I don't understand what this means, because there is a wireless key in my keyboard and there is a white light (not orange) like there should be. Also in the Network and Sharing Center, I can see that the connections are enabled.

I have tried restarting the modem, router, and my computer. The strange thing is that the connection lights on the modem and router are lit as usual. Right now the router "internet" light is showing some kind of activity.
View 9 Replies View RelatedYesterday after booting my comp up I wanted to get on the internet but for the first time in years with my set up it just wouldn't connect, never done this before, we have a wireless O2 box upstairs which my son has a ethernet directly from the wireless router into his comp and my other son has a notebook (same as mine) and both of them were online but mine just wouldn't connect although I had nothing to say anything was wrong, o2 told me that if the other computers were online then it must be something on my comp that is causing the trouble ? but what could it be ? after three hours offline I rebooted and it was fine and got onto the internet no trouble, this morning it again wouldn't let me online and then bingo it just came on again at 4pm very strange to me

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am able to connect to firefox internet but when I try to log in to my Yahoo Messenger or iTunes store it tells me that my internet connection timed out. I try to connect to Internet Explorer and it will not connect to the web there. I have went into the tools box in Internet Explorer and clicked on internet option and than connection and I was going to try to change the proxy server LAN and when I would go into it to change that I would be able to find the address to put in but can not figure out what the port section is. I am using a wireless connection and it shows that i have connection even when I try the troubleshooting section that checks the connection and it tells me that there is no problem with it. I also tried restarting my wireless router and than restarting my computer which did not work.
Than I tried disconnecting and reconnecting to internet and still nothing. When I would login to my Yahoo Messenger and pushed the troubleshooter bottom it says, "We are not able to make a connection to the Internet. One of the following may be true: You're not connection to the Internet. A few days Ago we finally got our 24Mbps DSL package and so far it keeps disconnecting every 30 mins (sometimes more, sometimes less). The thing is I'm living in some village in Ukraine so there's only one ISP I can choose from and the phone lines here are a piece of crap (I can hear the static, but I can't do anything about it.) Calling the phone company is out of the question as no one here would even think about improving our phone lines (trust me, this place is FAIL). Also, My ISP is bsing me into believing that I'll get 24mbits on some crappy copper wired phone line that makes noise every time you try to use the phone. I'm using a 5 port switch to connect 2 computers to the internet through some so-so modem. The ethernet cables are not cat5 quality either and the phone cable is just some average RJ11 type deal. Now I know the true meaning behind "up to 24mbps downstream and 3 mbps upstream!" which is actually means "10.5mbps down and 0.3mbps up (at max)". Yes, I live more than 2km from the providers. [code]

View 11 Replies View RelatedMy computer had a filter on it that used a proxy server. The company (called Familink) went out of business. They provided an application for removing the filter, but it did not work, and the filter was never removed. I believe when the filter was installed, it modified the registry to prevent internet browsing unless the proxy was active. Now, since the company is out of business, there is no way to use the proxy, and I cannot browse the internet at all. I can still connect to secure (https://) sites just fine, but not any other channel. It is not a problem with the ISP, because I can browse the internet just fine on the same computer using linux. It just does not work with windows. When running a diagnostic test, I get error 0x2751, or "WSAEHOSTUNREACH"

View 15 Replies View RelatedIt's not on one device, and it doesn't matter if you are connected wirelessly or by cable. It also doesn't matter what internet browser you use. I would guesstimate that every 5-15 mins the dsl broadband just gives and all internet goes down for probably 1-3 mins at a time.I honestly have no idea. I'm using a 2Wire, just what AT&T gave me. I'm guessing it's either the dsl filter, or the actually router itself, i'm just not sure how to go about troubleshooting and figuring out the root of the problem.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am currently on Time Warner Cable 10 mbps packge, and am using their wireless DOCIS3 modem/router. It is connected in my bedroom to the main computer. That computer stays connected. However, throughout the rest of the house (we have a two story townhome) it will drop completely or give limited connection...constantly. Sometimes I can have my laptop next to me and it will go out or give limited connection. The connection speed never drops, it just goes completely to no connection. Not for sure what is going on, if its on my end or time warner. Has been doing this for quite some time, the cable company comes out and changes the modem, but that's it, couple days later, goes back to doing it again.

I cannot access the internet from my computer. The message says: runtime error program:c/windows/networkdiagnostic/xpnetdiag.exe I did two things today:
1. instal avast anti-virus (which I have since uninstalled)
2. connected my iphone 4 to my computer (perhaps for the first time)
There is no problem with the actual internet connection and there are no other problems with my computer.
