i have a laptop running windows xp sp2, i do PLC programming and often need to put an IP address into my pc, but i also often need to go on the internet,is there any way i can put an ip address in my laptop and also access the internet at the same time.I dont want to have to take out my IP address all the time to go on the internet.can i assign like a gateway or something?

I need to setup a system where my staff can access the internet using the IP address at my buisness. IE. My staff can log into our marketing software (which will only allow access from my buisnesses IP address) from home. My thoughts were to leave the computer on at work all the time and then use a remote access program like logmein to remotley control that computer however I am then limited by only having one person able to do this at a time. I want to be able to use my buisness internet connection as a proxy as such....i think? Computers are running windows 7. Buisnesses internet connection is DSL with wireless modem
View 3 Replies View RelatedHave a problem with a laptop connecting to a Wireless Router. The laptop was working fine on the last router which was on an ADSL Network.. (not that that matters),When the new router (Virgin Media / Cable) was installed all other laptops where connecting to it without any probs, but not this one.The laptop in question still receives an IP address, Subnet mask and Gateway from the router - Vista says Local only, no internet access. It cannot ping anything else on the network either. When I do ping it comes back destination host unreachable.

I have a LAN and a DMZ and an internet connection. I am using one of the internet connection IPs to host a HTTP service on a server in my DMZ. (its the same interface as my internet connenction but a different IP to the one used for internet connectivity)
so say my LAN is 192.168.1.x
and my DMZ is 172.168.1.x
I can access DMZ from Lan and vice versa. when i try to access the public IP (or URL) from a pc in my LAN i get nothing.
I have enabled DNS rewrite (doctoring) but it is still not working. the HTTP service is available from other sites.
I have 5508 controller in my lab. I am working on a project to set up a public internet but with some condition.
- User should able to connect to the SSID without any authentication.
- Once user will connec to the SSID it should redirect to an external URL which indicates terms and condition and email address field.
- User should enter his/her email address in email addrss filed and click I accept button.
- Once that is done then he/she is allowed to access internet.
We are not sure how can we achive this as I do not know what should be the return value for WLC to allow that user to go through or what should be the settings on the WLC to redirect to the page.
I have seen a settings on web authentication for external URL but I guess it is only for username passwor or Radius authentication. While in this case I do not want to use any authentication just an accept buttor or Decline button and all good to go.
I sold my router to someone the other day for use on twc after changing isp's. It is a motorola sbg6580. TWC uses these modems all the time and sells them themselves so i figured it would work. Well i got a call from the guy i sold it to saying they cant access the mac adress on it. I know it has 2 of them and I dont know if its their tech guys having problems which is what i thought it was but he wont leave me alone and i used hte modem a week before selling it and straight back to the box so i doubt its the modem itself. He told me though that I needed to have the mac adress unlocked or something from my old isp?

I enter the IP address into the url field and hit enter. Several seconds pass by.. Then I get this message: "The connection has timed out." and nothing happens.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI need to connect from an inside host to a host located in the DMZ zone for DNS queries. The host in the DMZ zone has a static NAT to the outside. The point now is that I would like to connect from inside to the NATed outside address, means to the public Internet address.
Inside host: 10.0.0.1 -> PAT for 10.0.0.0/8 to 20.0.0.254 (Outside Interface)
DMZ host: 192.168.1.1 -> NAT to outside to 20.0.0.1
The traffic should be 10.0.0.1 udp>1024 to 20.0.0.1 udp=53. The source IP address on the outside interface now is 20.0.0.254 (according to the PAT), the destination IP address 20.0.0.1. The DNS reply from 20.0.0.1 should go back now to 20.0.0.254 and then to the inside host 10.0.0.1.
I know that on the PIX it was not possible, to have outgoing traffic on the outside interface which immediately enters again the same interface. Can I realize this scenario with the ASA 8.4(3) release now?
