Im getting internet but i cant access my router address to get my config page. I had broadband wired internet a few days ago but now im using a wireless connection could that be the problem?

I've been trying to configure a TP-Link L-WR740N to act as an access point using the instructions here as a guide. As stated in the guide, I've been changing the IP address of the TP-Link router to a new address that lies outwith the pool of available DHCP addresses in my combined modem/router but with less than resounding success. After rebooting the TP-Link router, I am unable to access the set-up interface - the newly allocated IP address doesn't work, neither does the original IP address work. What is happening here? If I change the IP address to one that lies within the DHCP pool and reboot, I can access it ok with the new address. However, that obviously clashes with the set-up instructions.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a wrt54gs v7 and a wap54g v3.1. Both have latest firmware on them. I set the access point to act as a repeater and entered the mac address from the router (It said to use the lan mac address. is that right?). I have them set on same subnet with static ip addresses. They have same wireless ssid and password with one using channel 10 and the other using channel 2. I can receive an ip address from the router and connect to internet. I cannot get an ip address from the access point. I tried a static ip on the computer and it will connect, but I don't have internet. Am I missing something in the setup? Can this access point act as a repeater for this router?

The thing is i configured it correctly, well at least i think, i can see it on my wireless network, with a good signal, but on my Android tablet (Google Nexus 7), it can't get past the "Obtaining IP address".
I called the technical support, the person there tried to assist me for about 1 hour, we tried different settings, we upgraded firmware from 1.0.01 to 1.0.04, but it didn't worked. Now he said someone will call me tomorrow during the afternoon.
My router isn't Linksys, it's a Netgear, i don't have wireless problem when i connect my tablets or any other wireless device on it, it's just that i bought this WAP610N to have the signal in my bedroom, where i don't get any signal normally.
I have a high speed wireless DSL router from my ISP (Telus). I use one port off the router to connect directly to my desktop computer. Another port is connected to a switch to which ethernet cables to three other rooms are connected. My problem is that when I connect my Bell PVR (9242) to the 'switched' ethernet cable, I'm apparently not able to get a dynamic ip address, which the Bell unit requires, and can't connect to the network.can I connect another router, in place of the switch, to deliver dynamic IP addresses to whatever I connect to the ports in the other rooms in my house?

I have one router (router 1) on ground floor which gets internet from the modem. That router is then plugged into the LAN port of a wireless router upstairs (router 2). My laptop is then plugged into another LAN port on router 2. This allows me internet access as intended. But I'd like to log into the the configuration utility of router 2. But when I type the IP address of router 2 into my browser (192.168.1.1), it takes me to the configuration utility of router 1. Router 2 is out of the box--I haven't done any configuration to it (for example, changing its static IP address).

But with the used id and password which i had configured the router is not at all accessible. So i did 30-30-30 reset on the router 2-3 times.
Now i can see openwrt login page with 192.168.1.1 IP address. It is asking for user id and password. I tried all the combinations of user id and password, but no luck. I browsed some link on the internet and some people have recommended that default user id as a "root" and blank password. But with that also the router is not accessible. I have changed from a DSL internet service to a Comcast cable system. I have setup my E4200v1 router as an Access Point, to extend coverage in my building. It works fine, but I can no longer log on to the unit using its' IP address 192.168.1.1. The browser returns the message "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage." If I want to tweak the settings the only thing I can think to do is to push the reset plug, back to factory settings and go through the whole process. Is there a way to discover the new IP address of the reconfigured router? I left the default address as it was when I made the changes to AP status.

I have tried to change the IP from the default 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.178.2. After changing and applying the changes I restarted the router and tried to access the router via the new address. For wired workstations: bridged DSL modem->wireless Linksys E900 router->Dell PowerConnect 2824 switch->2 modular 4-port jacks->individual workstations For wireless: bridged DSL modem->wireless Linksys E900 router->workstations The workstations were set up to pick up IP addresses automatically.After an infrastructure upgrade where we added some Cat6 cables and swapped the modular jacks for a patch panel, we lost all connectivity. I restored the connectivity to the wired workstations by assigning IP addresses. But we have no wireless and I cannot access the router GUI at its IP address (even when plugged directly into the router). All the workstations show the default gateway as 192.168.10.1, so I don't know what's going on.
