Can't Access Router Wrn2000 With IP Address?
Sep 1, 2011I have a netgear wrn2000v2 which I can't access using the default IP address 192.168.1.1. I can access it with routerlogin.com. What is going on?

Apr 5, 2011I'm currently writing this from a laptop. It can access the internet perfectly, with no dropouts and no speed issues. However, my desktop PC is a different story. When I purchased the PC, it came with a standard wireless PCI adapter which really wasn't doing the job. It couldn't pick up my router from just one story above, where my laptop could. I decided to buy a new wireless adapter that would hopefully fit the bill. Unfortunately, again it didn't pick up the router from downstairs. Trying a different tack, I purchased the Netgear WRN2000 as an access point that would increase the range of my router. I connected my PC to this after configuring and all was going well for a while, until now. Now, every 1-2 minutes, the internet will slow to a crawl for 30 seconds or so, and while comparing speeds via the laptop (connected directly to the main router) and via the PC (connected through the extender to the router), the laptop clearly has the speed advantage. This is more noticable when playing games on my PC, such as Call of Duty. Every 1 minute or so, the game becomes unplayable due to lag for around 30 seconds, and sometimes this happens constantly. I'm unable to work out if the WRN2000 has a problem, or if it's interference. I actually tried connecting my PC to my laptop via ethernet, and bridging the 2 connections, which seemed to work for a day or so, but now does not. Also, i'd be willing to purchase a new PCI wireless card if anyone has any recommendations for one that has a strong signal range.

Jun 17, 2012I've been trying to configure a TP-Link L-WR740N to act as an access point using the instructions here as a guide. As stated in the guide, I've been changing the IP address of the TP-Link router to a new address that lies outwith the pool of available DHCP addresses in my combined modem/router but with less than resounding success. After rebooting the TP-Link router, I am unable to access the set-up interface - the newly allocated IP address doesn't work, neither does the original IP address work. What is happening here? If I change the IP address to one that lies within the DHCP pool and reboot, I can access it ok with the new address. However, that obviously clashes with the set-up instructions.

Feb 14, 2013I have changed from a DSL internet service to a Comcast cable system. I have setup my E4200v1 router as an Access Point, to extend coverage in my building. It works fine, but I can no longer log on to the unit using its' IP address 192.168.1.1. The browser returns the message "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage." If I want to tweak the settings the only thing I can think to do is to push the reset plug, back to factory settings and go through the whole process. Is there a way to discover the new IP address of the reconfigured router? I left the default address as it was when I made the changes to AP status.

They have same wireless ssid and password with one using channel 10 and the other using channel 2. I can receive an ip address from the router and connect to internet. I cannot get an ip address from the access point. I tried a static ip on the computer and it will connect, but I don't have internet. Am I missing something in the setup? Jun 1, 2012We have an ADSL connection and use a D-Link DSL-320B modem. We have a D-Link DIR-120 router connected to this modem. This has worked perfectly fine up until today when we disconnected the router and connected a computer (call it A) directly to the modem because it was getting an unusable connection through the router for some reason. We later also performed a factory reset on the DIR-120 router.
Unfortunately, after the above steps the router did not receive any IP address (through DHCP) from the ADSL connection anymore. During my attempts to debug this I noticed that my laptop (call it B) didn't get any IP address either (when connected directly to the modem). I noticed the following syslog entries repeating over and over while trying to connect: [code]
At this point computer A could still get a connection just fine tho (when connected directly to the modem).
I then tried to change the MAC address of the router to an arbitrary one (a copy of computer B's MAC address but with the last digit increased by one). The router still did not get assigned any IP address. Finally I tried making the router clone the MAC address of a third computer (call it C). C has never been connected directly to the modem. Doing this worked. After cloning the MAC address of computer C the router is immediately assigned an IP address and the internet connection works as it did prior to all this.
Now, my question is, why would computer B and the original MAC address of the router not be able to get an IP address while two other computers worked just fine? Why would changing to an arbitrary MAC address not work while cloning the MAC address of another computer did? Could the router's MAC address have been blocked by the ISP for some reason (and what could cause this)?
but my situation seems more like a blacklisting of some MAC addresses rather then allowing just a single MAC address.

TWC uses these modems all the time and sells them themselves so i figured it would work. Well i got a call from the guy i sold it to saying they cant access the mac adress on it.
