View 5 RepliesI have Linksys router model no. WRT160N, which I have been using for three years. I need to add two iPads to my router but I do not know the network password. I am trying to access the router IP address 192.168.0.1 to find out the network password, but when I put HTTP://192.168.0.1 in my browser, I receive the message: Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage. How can I find out the network password?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have changed from a DSL internet service to a Comcast cable system. I have setup my E4200v1 router as an Access Point, to extend coverage in my building. It works fine, but I can no longer log on to the unit using its' IP address 192.168.1.1. The browser returns the message "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage." If I want to tweak the settings the only thing I can think to do is to push the reset plug, back to factory settings and go through the whole process. Is there a way to discover the new IP address of the reconfigured router? I left the default address as it was when I made the changes to AP status.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I change my WRT320N routers IP address to use it as an access point only and bring it in the IP range of my ccombined modem/router I'm not able to view the setup page via the new IP address. I have tried to change the IP from the default 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.178.2. After changing and applying the changes I restarted the router and tried to access the router via the new address. This was not possible am I doing something wrong or did I forgot something?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a wrt54gs v7 and a wap54g v3.1. Both have latest firmware on them. I set the access point to act as a repeater and entered the mac address from the router (It said to use the lan mac address. is that right?). I have them set on same subnet with static ip addresses. They have same wireless ssid and password with one using channel 10 and the other using channel 2. I can receive an ip address from the router and connect to internet. I cannot get an ip address from the access point. I tried a static ip on the computer and it will connect, but I don't have internet. Am I missing something in the setup? Can this access point act as a repeater for this router?

The gateway it should be is that of the ADSL Modem (192.168. 1. 254).If I choose "Bridge Mode" I can't even enable DHCP.Is there a way I can use the DHCP server?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI switched from Time Capsule with AirPort to E2000 and have a problem with configuration.I use the same IPs as in AirPort and E2000 gives me an error:"The WAN IP address cannot be the same subnet as the Guest Network IP address" and I can't save configuration. But in my opinion they are different.I use "Static IP" option and I have IPs from my ISP: [code] So WAN IP is different subnet as LAN and I don't know what to do now. It worked with these settings in AirPort and here I can't proceed.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI bought a Linksys WAP610N today, i placed it so i could get a signal where i can't normally.
The thing is i configured it correctly, well at least i think, i can see it on my wireless network, with a good signal, but on my Android tablet (Google Nexus 7), it can't get past the "Obtaining IP address".
I called the technical support, the person there tried to assist me for about 1 hour, we tried different settings, we upgraded firmware from 1.0.01 to 1.0.04, but it didn't worked. Now he said someone will call me tomorrow during the afternoon.
My router isn't Linksys, it's a Netgear, i don't have wireless problem when i connect my tablets or any other wireless device on it, it's just that i bought this WAP610N to have the signal in my bedroom, where i don't get any signal normally.
Trying to setup secure net but when I type in the router IP Address, it shows Netgear, Type in printer IP address and it shows Linksys. How can I access my Linksys to make changes? I believe the Netgear shown is Comcast modem...
View 9 Replies View RelatedI reset my WAP54g v3.05 to factory default to allow an older computer access to my network.
Now I've reinstalled it for better security using my newer laptop: no SSID broadcast and encryption set for WPA2-personal. However, when I enable Mac filtering and permit my newer laptop, the WAP54g does not recognize it.
Disable Mac filtering and my laptop is back on the network.
I have a E2500 router and 3 WAP610N access points. Users are having a difficult time connecting to the AP's. The client device just sits there trying to obtain an IP and then times out. If they get within range of the actual wireless router, then connect instantly. Is there a setting to increase that will allow longer time trying to obtain an IP?
I am using the same SSID for roaming, but am using different channels (1, 6, 11) for the overlap. See diagram below. Not sure if this has some impact?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI tried to configure my wifi router recently to secure my internet connection. I wanted to add a MAC adress filter, but I had to leave before I could enter them all. I thought that I wouldn't have to enter my own MAC adress since I'm directly connected to the router with a wire, but it looks like I should have entered my MAC adress, because now I can't get access to my router by typing the IP adress, as usual. I tried to reset it, but it doesn't work.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to configure a TP-Link L-WR740N to act as an access point using the instructions here as a guide. As stated in the guide, I've been changing the IP address of the TP-Link router to a new address that lies outwith the pool of available DHCP addresses in my combined modem/router but with less than resounding success. After rebooting the TP-Link router, I am unable to access the set-up interface - the newly allocated IP address doesn't work, neither does the original IP address work. What is happening here? If I change the IP address to one that lies within the DHCP pool and reboot, I can access it ok with the new address. However, that obviously clashes with the set-up instructions.

The MAC address starts with 1C:C1:XX:XX:XX:XX

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a 6 month old Cisco e-4200 router that is updated to the latest firmware, connected to a Motorola surfboard modem on Sudden-link in Midland, TX.
I previously used this exact same setup on Cox Cable in Wichita, KS with no problems. Upon setting it up down here I cannot get the router to pickup an IP address. I have Power-cycled everything multiple times, did a complete reset and re-installation of the router software and still no luck. The Sudden-link techs have no idea what is wrong. They said that the modems signal is strong and everything should be working.
Actually I did get it to work once for a couple of days, however when redoing the surround sound system I had to unhook the cable line and it quit working and I haven't gotten it to work again since. I have tried unhooking everything. Turning it all off. Waiting for 5+minutes, and then reconnecting in order: First the modem, then an ethernet cable to the computer which will usually work. But as soon as I unplug the cable from the computer and plug it into the router it stops working.
I have an e3000 that cannot obtain an address from the ISP. I can get an address on the computer and an old router by directly connecting the cable to the computer or the router. I can also daisy-chain the e3000 to the old router, and I can get an address on the e3000 from the old router. I have hard reset the e3000, changed firmware from the Linksys to TomatoUSB and back to Linksys, and I still can't get it to work. It worked fine on Saturday until a bolt of lightning hit close to the house. Since then, I cannot get the e3000 to connect to the ISP.

I just bought the Cisco e4200 v2 router, I did all the installations as the Cisco connect software instructed me and everything went fine. After the installation I configured the router on the WAN settings as (Automatic Configuration - DHCP), like my old router (Linksys WRT54GL) and I saw that my router doesn't get the WAN address from cable modem from my ISP(it stays on 0.0.0.0), it doesn't renew the IP address.
