Operation Returned Because Timeout Period Expired Windows 7
Apr 18, 2011
I have a new Win 7 Dell Precision Workstation that will not log in to my domain. I get an error that there is no login server available if I attempt to log in using a domain account. I log in as the local admin and then try to join a domain using the Join a Domain or Workgroup wizard. I then get an error stating "this operation returned because the timeout period expired". I have had to reset my core switch to get a couple of the new boxes (including this one) to even join the domain. I also show no internet in the Network and Sharing Center most of the time.
I have a D610 Laptop with integrated Bluetooth and Wifi. The evaluation period has expired. Please obtain a license for this version of Bluetooth Stack for Windows by Toshiba."
I had called Gold Support last week and was asked to download/install the driver from the support downloads site and then download/install the patch as well. The bluetooth manager does not come up when this popup shows.
my current setup: Windows XP machines authenticating wireless using 802.1X to a Cisco ACS 5.3 that redirects the request to Microsoft Active Directory. All the statements that I make below are what I have gathered from reading on forums, some of them might be incorrect.
In the ACS Under “External Identity Stores” and “Active Directory”, there is a check box called “Enable Machine Access Restrictions” if it is checked and the Aging time is set to 8 hours and a Windows XP machine authenticates using it’s Domain credentials it will gain access to the network but if that computer is not rebooted after the 8 hours is up, Windows XP will not send it machine credentials again, it will only send the user/pass of the user and will loose access to the network. The problem we have is that most of the users do not shutdown their computers when they go home, they hibernate the computers thus when they come back to the school the 8 hours aging time on the ACS has expired. The ACS expects to see the Windows XP machine send it’s domain credentials again but from every forum I have read on, Windows XP will not send it again until it get rebooted (FYI, Windows 7 will send the proper info, thus they work just fine). In the mean time I have changed the aging time to 8760 hours but this should only be temporary because it is a security risk to have the aging time set so high. Moving forward what are my options to make this work properly?
-Is there a way to fix Windows XP?
-Is there a recommendation on how to bypass this issue but still give us decent security?
-Is setting the aging time so high, a non security issue?
-I guess worst case scenario, the customer can try to educate all the students and staff to reboot their machines every morning?
I have a network set up with file sharing. I use a Windows 7 PC to host files that are shared with around 8 other PCs - some on Windows 7, some on Windows XP. The file sharing works but sometimes some users are unable to get access to the files. The error message is something like PCNAME is not accessible...
I have a network set up with file sharing. I use a Windows 7 PC to host files that are shared with few other PCs - some on Windows 7, some on Windows XP. The file sharing works but sometimes some users are unable to get access to the files. It seems to be only on the machines that are on XP that this problem occurs. The error message is something like \PCNAME is not accessible...
The user can connect if the machine storing the files is restarted but it will happen 4-5 times during the day.

I have problem with the WAN Router 7206. It has been reloaded automatically 2 times since yesterday. [code] I have already put this message to the output interpreter and the solution is upgrading to the latest IOS. But, when I search in the Bug Toolkit about SegV problem, this bug status is still "Open". So, how can I upgrade to the latest IOS if the status of this bug is still open?
When i was changing the class-maps i get lost the router. I have attached the crash log file, am i hitting a bug here? I have many times modified the class-maps on the go without any issues.
Your ip address lease has expired. dhcp was unable to renew your lease. My netbook shows it is connecting to the network both with the cable and wireless but when i try to go on to the internet i get this error.
I have a router cisco 3825, It is being restarted autometically. and gives a message "System returned to ROM by bus error at PC 0x6125DCFC, address 0x15A3C78B" in show ver.
I noticed that my router 7200 was reboot for a bus error. The error occurred while the system was operational. After the restart the router works properly for more than 6 days.
This is the sh ver:

Seems that the error "System returned to ROM by bus error at PC 0x2E0BF30, address 0x0" should be a special type of bus error crash is when the crash is caused by a corrupted program counter (PC). The PC value is the location of the instruction which the processor was executing when the bus error occured. In this case, the PC has jumped to the address 0x0 (probably because of a null pointer), but this is not where the instruction is located.
Can I consider this as a processor memory parity errors and wait for a second parity error before I replace anything?
I have Windows XP Pro SP3. After a random period of maybe 30 mins to a few hours, my internet connection seems inexistant. PC reacts like there is no internet cable plugged in. I've checked the ipconfig command in command prompt before my internet shuts down and after and there was a change. A few lines(IPs) were missing after my internet fell.
Basically, I downloaded a trial and it eventually expired but I heard something like, if you format your hard drive and re-install your operating system you can download and use the trial again. Does this work? And are there any other easier ways to do it
Whenever I want to turn off the ip cache flow and enter command "no ip flow egress" on a router interface, the router will self reboot and returned with the error message - System returned to ROM by bus error at PC message in the show version ouput.
I tried on two different routers below here and both also undergoing a cold restart when I key in the command "no ip flow egress" on the said interface
1) Cisco 7206 running IOS 12.4(1c)
interface GigabitEthernet0/1 ip address 10.20.10.2 255.255.255.0 ip flow egress duplex auto speed auto end
when I key in "no ip flow egress" under int gi0/1 and the router self restarted and return the message Router uptime is 3 minutes System returned to ROM by bus error at PC 0x606D48FC,address 0x0
2) Cisco 3845 running IOS 12.4(3e)
interface GigabitEthernet0/0 ip address 10.20.20.2 255.255.255.0 ip nbar protocol-discovery ip flow egress duplex auto speed auto end
when I key in "no ip flow egress" under int gi0/0 and the router self restarted and return the message
Router uptime is 3 minutes System returned to ROM by bus error at PC 0x6007EBE0, address 0x0
I have my router 7606-S rebooted by itself. According to output of show version command it's rebooted by software bug.

We have a VPN 3000 that we use to connect. We are recieving reports that some of the users are connected but after a set period of time they are disconnected. Is there any changes that I could look at in the VPN 3000 that could point me in the right direction.
we have installed an evaluation version of Cisco Works LMS 4.0.1. Now we have purchased a license, but the evaluation period is over and I can't start the application anymore. Is there any possibility to install the license file after the evaluation period?
We have DIR-615, almost 18 months old, we must occasionally reboot because it APPEARS that the device has had its certificate expire. We tried changinf the tomeout expire to 999999 no luck.
I just purchased a WTR610N and when I connect to the admin interface over SSL it gives me a cert that expired on 12/31/1970. I updated the firmware and that didn't change anything. How to get it to use a valid cert?
I have configured under Administration password policies about password lenght, items to be putted as number, letters and so on.on the second tab is the password expire for users and I configured to expire after 90 days.
I even tried creating a new user and changing a password from an existing user using Apache TOMCAT WAR,I have checked CLOCK of ACS appliance and setted up NTP on our internal NTP servers
even I create a new user or I change the password via Admin GUI or I change the user password via Apache TOMCAT WAR, I have the user being disabled in a few of minutes, half an hour.,As last, with CISCO AnyConnect is possible to warn the user about the password being expireing and if so, the change could be driven via AnyConnect or is absolutely needed a User Hand Task on the Apache TOMCAT portal I setted up with the ACS WAR application?
Now, My ACS and ASA connected with RADIUS(MSCHAPv2). I set up Password Lifetime on ACS and Password Management on ASA.But Cisco ASA doesn't has prompt change or notify anything when user try to login with Clientless SSL VPN. Could user change or notify password expired?
I check change password on th first login on ACS that ASA propmt to change password dialog. But I want to change or notify when password expired
Every other day and sometimes everyday I have an issue where my network slows down in one area at around the same time of day 12:00pm. I am using Solarwinds and I don't see anything significant showing up.
So, I just upgraded my mobo/cpu (Z77A-G45 and i5-2500k) and I'm having an issue with my connection as it seems to drop every 5 to 15 minutes constantly and have no idea what exactly is wrongThe kicker is my old mobo did the same thing and I had to do something in win7 to fix it (not sure if it was the drivers or what) but I just can't remember what exactly.
My XP Pro SP3 PC is connected to a Netgear DG834N modem/router via Ethernet. If the PC is left for say 4-5 hours the ability to connect to websites disappears. The browser just hangs and it's the same with IE and Firefox The odd thing is I can still ping websites by domain name without trouble. So the interenet connection is actually still in place. The problem is consistent and repeatable.Throughout this I have a second XP Pro SP3 PC also connected to the router via Ethernet and it works perfectly.
I have a Cisco 2911 router with 4 T1 connections. Two are set as a multilink and the other two are for two other locations. The router will run fine, but after a month I cannot ping the gigabit ethernet 0/0 interface. I would have to manually reboot the router to get it to respond again. Before I noticed a lot of interface discards which would shutdown the 2911 and a manual reboot would be needed, but for this time it isn't the case. Where would I start with this the memory and cpu usage are fine.
Here is the config: Current configuration : 2905 bytes ! version 15.0
