Password Needs To Be 40bits Or 104bits Depending On Network Configuration

I have a wireless setup with a linksys router hooked up. I mainly connect with my laptop but now I'm trying to test out a Dell Inspirion 3000 Windows XP. The Dell picks up the signal of my connection that is secure when I have the proxim router connected. When I go to put in my password I get this message : "The network password needs to be 40bits or 104bits depending on your network configuration. This can be entered as 5 or 13 ascii characters or 10 or 26 hexadecimal characters." Otherwise if I direction plug in the Ethernet cord it 'connects' but I can't do anything. I'm set up as a WPA Personal in security mode when I got into my linksys account.
I'm at my brother's house and I'm trying to connect to hs wireless network. I know the password but whenever I try to enter it it gives me a message that says, "The network password needs to be 128bits or 256 bits depending on your network configuration. This can be entered as 8 to 63 characters or 64 hexadecimal characters." From other forums I've looked at it says that I need to get to the router settings page. It gives me an IP adress to paste into the web browser but it doesn't come up as anything. What the heck?
So I have an issue with getting a laptop hooked onto the router signal. The router is a brand spankin new Linksys EA4500 and the laptop is an IBM which is running Win XP (not sure of SP version as it is a customer's comp. at a hotel I run). I have never encountered this error message on any laptops and no other rooms have been affected.
I am trying to access a government jobs page to apply for an internship. When I access the page from my home network (using multiple browsers and multiple computers) I get a result that references the job opening from last year, and doesn't have an application button. When I access the site using my 3G connection on my phone, or when accessed from any other internet connection, I get the new page which includes information about the 2013 job opening, and has an application button. When I try to enter the URL for the application page on my home network, I get a 404 error. If I turn my wifi off on my phone and reload the same page, it resolves to the correct page.
My dlink wireless has a WEP consisting of 40 numbers (or 4 lines of 10 numbers)When I connected a PC to the dlink it asked for the key and I entered all 40 numbers and it connected without problemI also had to enter all 40 digits for my Wii to connect to it.But when I connected my PS3 I only entered in the first 10 digits and it connectedI have connected various devices to the dLink and some ask for the first 10, some 20 and some require all 40.I have just bought a new phone Samsung Galaxy Ace and trying to connect to the dlink is impossible. I have entered all 40 digits and it wont connect, it just says "authenticating" then "disabled". I have tried the first 10, then 20, then 30 and it still says disabled.The problem then is I don't know whether the phone is faulty or the dlink just wants a particular line of my key.
I'm new and just entered in the world of studying my certification for Cisco, since I'm curious I see that there are switches that can perform task depending on the layer? I see some with specifics for Layer 2, some other for layer 3 and even some others with router capabilities!I know this is a rookie question but how do I know what the best switch for a network? or how can I identify them?
I'm running an ISE 1.1.1 and i need to authenticate guest users.The goal is apply different Authorization profile to the same guest user based on the thevice he use to connect to the guest wlan.
I.E.: if guest user "user1" connect to the guest WLAN using a windows laptop, than apply "Guest" authorization profile if guest user "user1" connect to the guest WLAN using an Apple iPad, than apply "Mobile" authorization profile
I've tried to deployed the following 2 authorization policy: 1)if "Apple-Device" and "IdentityGroup:Name EQUALS Guest" then "Mobile" 2)if "Guest" then "Guest"
but the first rule never match and even if I use and iPad to access the guest network the "Guest" authorization Profile is matched
I've verified that the iPad is correctly recognized as an Apple-Device changing for test purposes the rule table in 1)if "Apple-Device" then "Mobile" 2)if "Guest" then "Guest"
Actually I have a lab with ACS 5.3 running with 802.1x, but when when the user is successfully authenticated, it's assigned and IP address from the DHCP server, is there a way to assign a static IP address depending of login username??
Is it possible to encrypt password provided for the ldap-login-password attribute in the ASA configuration? Our auditor is not comfortable with the LDAP (AD) password appearing in clear text in the configuration
Recently, I purchased a Cisco 871W Router with which to practice/study for my CCENT with. Since I have made the purchase, it has given me nothing but headaches.
I cannot access the router to configure it, as the previous owner has a password set on it to access enable mode, which he/she has forgotten.
Here is the message that I receive when I attempt to log in into the router, to access enable mode. [URL]
Apparently there is supposed to be a one-time username and password of "Cisco", but this is not the case.
I have tried to do a password recovery, following this post discussion thread: [URL]
Unfortunately, this has not worked, and I am sure that I am doing something incorrectly. I am connected to the router via console cable and have tried power cycling the router and entering the break sequence, power cycling again, and then holding the space bar down for 15 seconds. The preceding has produced no results to speak of. Following, I set my terminal emulator, Tera Term, to the baud rate of 1200, power cycled the router, and held down the space bar for 20 seconds. I then immediately set the baud rate back to 9600. Nothing occurred, once again.
Furthermore, I have followed the password recovery instructions set forth by Cisco. [URL]
Nothing has come of these methods, either, and I do not see how they would work, or even apply to my situation, as Cisco seems to imply they should, as I cannot get into enable mode, let alone privileged mode or conf t mode, as the guidelines require.

OS: Win 7 HP 64 bit Terminal Emulator: Tera Term Router is not currently connected to any sort of internet connection. Only the power cord and console cable are properly connected.
I am setting up a guest WLAN network on our existing 1242 AP's using a seperate VLAN. On most wireless devices which are on the company network/VLAN's, I have used WEP authentication with hex keys, and no broadcast. Obviously this cannot be the same for a guest internet connection.We want to have the VLAN/SSID in guest mode (which i have configured) for broadcasting, and then once someone selects the SSID on their laptop or smart phone, they are just prompted to authenticate with a standard alphanumeric password (example "guestwifi") instead of a 40 or 128 bit key.
I have searched all over and tried multiple things in the CLI on AP1, but can't seem to get anywhere.
I am new with ASA devices I have a ASA 5505, the former IT manager does not remember the password of it. I am just wondering do I lose the configuration on it if I reset the password?if yes, how can I download the configuration before resetting the password. and how can I upload the downloaded configuration

trying to connect to router configuration (after several factory resets) at 192.168.0.1 but each time screen displays invalid username / password,doesnot even display username / password window,using admin as username and password,just cannot log on to configuration setup
Recently I came across a router (Cisco 3845, IOS 12.4) configured for TACACS, one local username and an enable password. Going through the configuration I noticed the router didn't have an enable secret password which I thought was strange. The TACACS config is below, comments regarding the TACACS config and the consequences of not having an enable secret or if there is a need for one.

I'm moving from an 1801W to an SRP547.My adsl supplier (BT) has given me a username and password, and also a router IP address, a subnet and an gateway IP address. I have 13 fixed IP addresses. I don't speak cisco, so I'm using the built in interface to configure it.If i choose IPoA I can enter the IP settings. If I choose PPPoA I can enter the username and password.I do not see anyway I can enter both the IP settings and the username + password on the WAN configuration page.
how to recover password and retrive configuration on Cisco switch 2950 and 3560.I know the way to press and hold the mode button and then plug in the power cord can reset the switch to factory default but it will reset everything to nothing. As such, it is not what I want and I want to keep the configuration file and able to use the configuration on the switch.
Simply put, a wireless network was set up with a network name and password in a senior community of primarily beginner users. Recently the name and password became changed to that of a community member named, let's say, "Joe". After addressing the router several times to change things back - only to find that the network name reverted to Joe - I changed the router password from admin to a unique pw and I confirmed that Remote Management was off. Next day... it was Joe again
I have a problem with my home network/internet - I have a working wireless network that I have used for some time now and it works just fine. the problem is that internet restrictions where I live require me to register each unit to the building network before I can gain access to the internet. My caretaker told me today that normally, I only should register my primary computer and the wireless router to be able to use the internet freely. However when a new laptop appears( I have a guest), I can easily connect it to my own wireless, but it can't use the internet, as if it needed to be registered again. I ran out of registration codes and I really would like to have freedom i connection opportunities. The caretaker said that the system gives every registered unit a "fake" IP, so after giving it to mu router, all other units connected through that router should have unlimited access. Is my network configured in a wrong way? I don't know how to ask this in a more simple way... I just want to be able to connect a friends laptop to the net with just my local password, which isn't happening.
My computer with wireless network card will not connect to my "PurpleZebra" network. I am using the network key or password that I have in the past. Including this one, I have four computers that use this network. None of the others require me to enter the network key except this one. It used to work but then would not so I re-installed the driver for the card which is a D-Link DWL-G510 Wireless G PCI Adapter. The computer is running Windows XP. No it asks for a network key but when I enter the one I have always used it doesn't work. It goes through the motions of trying to connect but just goes back to the screen that tells me to connect.
My office computer is from University's LAN network, you need a password to get to the network. How do I share that single computer to make it less that will allow it see my ipad 2 wifi, ipod touch etc?
I am trying to setup ATT DSL modem through D-Link router Dir-615. I was instructed to use PPPoE and setup username and password in router. When I do, the router does not save my network password, but reverts back to some hidden password. I have tried changing it in Tools, but it keeps reverting. I'm sure this is why I cannot access the internet.
