View 1 RepliesTrying to get internet on a very old PC. It's an old PC. But it's for an 8 year old. I just formatted the PC. Ethernet card was recognized. Not showing any issues in the device manager either. But when I choose my WN from the WNL and click connect, my password doesn't seem to work. It looks like it's connecting, but never does?

It seems to accept new password but never does connect, and when I retry, there's the old password back again, which I don't remember and was for the other modem. Have tried deleting the Realtec Wireless Adapter and reinstalling but the old password still returns? Tried renaming Wireless Network but old password still returns? Tried accessing Registry with no luck. Only way the Laptop can access is to leave Wireless Network Open/Unsecured, but that's not an option.

My aunts laptop and ipad was able to connect to the network. I can only connect to the wireless network when the yellow wire is connected from my laptop to the router.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been trying for the better half of the morning and afternoon to configure my family's wireless network. In particular, I would like to password protect the Wifi in such a way that every time I disconnect from the internet, a password is required to reconnect.I have setup the password and confirmed that it works properly when other machines in the house try to connect; however, the main computer I have used to set everything up is also a shared computer. Every time I disconnect from the internet and reconnect, it automatically connects without requesting the Wifi password.
Because it is a shared computer, I would like to disable internet access while I am away but leave the rest of the computer functional. Creating separate user accounts is not an option at this time.Is there any way to require that every computer submit the Wifi password after disconnecting and attempting to reconnect?
I am making my wireless network with Wireless router DIR-600 and DWA-525 desktop adapters for my office. I created a most secured type of network WPA2. And I have to create profile for DWA-525 desktop adapter to connect to my network and it requires the network secret key to connect. But This secret key is viewable from the "Network connection manager" when one can click on modify network and click on "Show text in the password field" by everyone using this computer (I mean by all other office staff). I don't want to let any one know my wireless network secret key. Is there any way to protect the key while having the computers automatically connected to wireless network. More information is below

I'm trying to connect my Kindle to my wireless router. I cant find my password for my network. I have a Linksys E1000.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy linksys 4200 was set up some time ago for me, (unsecured) and was working fine. I was having problems with just 1 desktop that was using a usb wireless adapter, so I went and purchased a new cisco ae2500. While connecting I used the push button that it described, only it knocked out the network, and all the other computers are now off of the network. The new network(s) are Cisco_WPS_42526 (secure) and Cisco_WPS_42526-guest. Not knowing the network key and the guys that set it up are gone, I tried the guest. WHICH REQUIRES A PASSWORD!!!! I can now not get ANY of my computers online! How do I find the security, or the password? Why would you need a password for an insecure network anyway?

I just upgraded from my factory default and found network sharing of my USB HDD was no longer working. It came down to two bugs in the latest firmware:Even though there is now the option to share without a password that option does not work and you still need a password. And that password is the factory default of "admin" even though I have set my own password.
I am installing my AE1000 in a new computer. During installation I enter my wireless network password which is on 5 characters long but the next tab does not light up to proceed to the next step. It only lights with 8 characters though my password is 5 characters long
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an E2500 router. When I enter 192.168.1.1 as a web address I am asked for a User name and password. When I do not enter anything for user name and put “admin” in password the screen again asks me for the same two things and eventually goes to a 401 message.
When I enter admin in user name and my secure password to allow devises to connect to the network it lets me in. I thought the password to enter the system settings and the one to enter the network are usually separate. When I open the Cisco Connect program and go into the various menus there my “secure” password is written and visible for anyone who clicks it. Is this how it is supposed to work? Also, how do I occasionally change the password to enter into the network.
Model wrt54gsWindows xpI got the wireless network setup and password protected and my computer and phone can sign o the wireless network, but when I try to go to a website it doesn't work. If I connect te computer directly to the modem then it works.
