View 2 RepliesI am currently trying to do a cascading LAN-LAN, my primary router is a d-link, my second router is a linksys 150N, I connected an ethernet cable to one of the 1-4 ports in the second router(150N with DD-WRT firmware), I tried logging into the 150N via 192.168.1.1(I did a hard reset so I have to get in and change it to 192.168.1.2) but I think i am going directly to the primary router. I tried connecting the 150N(secondary) directly to change the address to 192/.2 but I dont get anything, seems the internet connection to the router is not working. is there any other way? I had this working but I forgot the password and had to do a hard reset(this is a network back at my parents, I am here for the holidays) the way I had it working was LAN-LAN, Im not sure if the internet port for the 150N is damaged.
I tried connecting the internet cable from the 1st router to the internet port of the 2nd(150N) and didnt get anything.
I am about to think that maybe my 150N is faulty or at least the internet connection throught the blue port is not working.
I asked a question recently about accessing camera via a smartphone but I realize that's not really the correct question. The smartphone works fine locally with wifi and has a browser available.
The real question I have is what is the easiest way to access any camera via a browser from a remote location. Years ago tech friend assisted me access my DCS-910 using dyndns.org. It was free and worked great. I guess it went away when they started charging for a basic account.
Is there an easy way to access a camera without using dyndns even if it involves putting in an IP address instead of a convenient domain name? I would just like to see at least one of my cameras in a browser off-site. If I have to pay $20/year for dyndns I can but I would prefer not to if possible.
I have had this router with no real problems for the past 2 years. As of now I can't connect to the internet through the router wired or wirelessly. I have tried all the hard resets and other tricks. I can go straight from my internet connection to my computer and it works fine. Once I go through the router using a lan cord all I get is limited or no connectivity. I have tried to access the router set up using the 192.68. etc but can't just states invalid address. Anything else to try or is this thing bricked ?

If I disable SPI Firewall it works from outside my network ... am I missing a step ... never had this problem with 54G and although I run software firewall on my computers I like the thought of added security of a firewall on my router.

My ISP is Comcast and they say that I have dynamic dns and should have no issues viewing my cameras. I know how to get to the port forwarding area of the router but am confused as to which ports to forward. The set up instructions for the camera (Airsight) suck. View 1 Replies View RelatedWhat is the difference between networking and network programming? Is it the same? If no, then does networking involve programming using languages such as c++ and java? View 1 Replies View RelatedI have written a java server-client program. The server accepts incoming connections on port 2175 and writes responses on 2176 which the client listens on for the response. I am sending serialzed objects over the network.
Problem: This all works well if I run my client on the same machine as the server. I put together a client jar and deployed it on another machine running on the same wireless network as the server. Now I get a "ConnectionException :Connection refused". So I thought I should hardcode the server and client IP's but that still didnt work.
Question: What else would I have to do to get the two computers to talk to each other (in terms of networking not java)?
I am having a trouble in setting up the new router, Medialink MWN-WAPR 150N with my laptop. I have tried unplugging the cable modem and router, downloading network drivers, repairing the connection, ip config /release and /renew, etc. and nothing has worked. The connection status shows as connected. I can ping the router successfully, but I can't ping a web site.

I previously was able to do this but the cable modem was recently replaced. The camera software needs a IP Address, subnet mask, and default gateay nformation. I do not currently have a static IP Address. In the camera IP address should I put in the public IP Address of the cable modem or should I create a static IP Address that is on the LAN. such as 10.*.*.*?How can I determine the subnet mask? Do I go to Gateway > Network within the cablem modem menu? The default gateway should be same as the default gateway for the LAN settings in Gateway > Network, right?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently puchased a new E4200v2 router and one of the devices that I have on my network is a Level1 WCS-2040 wireless network camera. My old router was a Netgear WPN-824. I was able to (and I'm still able to) connect the camera to the Netgear router with WPA-PSK but not to the new E4200v2. The only way for me to connect it to the new router is with WEP, which I obviously do not want.
I'm at a loss for what the problem is because the setup is easily done. I'm thinking it's an issue with the E4200v2 but I'm not sure what... hoping that the issue could be resolved in the next revision of the firmware. I've tried WPA2/WPA Mixed Mode, WPA Personal (which I understand is the same thing as WPA-PSK) and WEP. The camera supports WEP and WPA-PSK. When I have the camera configured with WPA-PSK it simply isn't connecting to the E4200v2, only the old netgear.
See screenshots below:

IP Camera config while connected to E4200v2 router (via wired connection, not wireless):
When the wired connection is removed from the camera and powercycled, the E4200v2 does not list the camera as a connected device. I've power cycled everything, multiple times and tried everything I know of. What could be the problem? Note that the MAC address for the camera is the same for both wired and wireless adapters. And no, Password1 is not my default password... just what I was testing with for the purpose of screenshots.
I am trying to forward a port to see a camera over the internet. On the single port forwarding screen under Gaming, I have put in port 8090 (Ext and Int),Protocal both, an IP address and Enabled. I have also tried putting in a range, but neither seems to work. After forwarding the port, I check with What's My IP Addrewss to get the external IP, then put the IP in a blank browser page with and without the port number. I have tried this several times without any result.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to setup a DVR camera system and two web page server boxes behind a Linksys WRT54GL. The problem I have is that all of the devices want to use port 80 to generate the web page. Individually, I can get the boxes to work, but when I try to put it all together everything seems to fall apart. I've got to the DVR set to External port 80, Internal Port 80 IP address 192.168.1.254. The web page server box I try to set to External port 8001, Internal port 80, IP address 192.168.1.200, when I try to save this setting I get the error message Internet IP address and LAN IP address are in the same subnet. If I change the web page server settings to External port 8001, Internal port 8001, IP address 192.168.1.200, it will save the settings, but it won't work that way because it won't actually generate a web page when I try to access that port. The error message doesn't seem to make since as all I'm changing is the port number, not the IP address or subnet mask.

It worked fine with my old D-Link router. Everything else in the house has not had a problem with the EA4500. There is a certail level of criticality around this camera and, if I can't get it to work, I will have to return the router. I setup port forwarding as 5556 ~ 5559, TCP Protocol (but I tried "Both" as well" with the IP address of the camera. It still doesn't work.I'm IT by trade but not in networking, i.e. I'm not stupid with tech but port wrangling is out of my comfort zone. The setup of this camera with our old router took minutes. I've spent about five hours trying to get it to work on the EA4500.

How would I setup VLC to stream my webcam as a ip camera so I can view it with my app?
I have an IP camera (foscam). It's connected to my wireless router. My router is connected to my motorola cable modem. My isp is Cox.I want to be able to view this camera from outside (ie: when I'm at work) by going to http://(my real ip) : (port). Port that I use is 88. I can't seem to do this.
First I set the port 88 to the camera's config. I can see the camera when I'm at home (going to 192.168.1.106:88). Reading the manual, I need to forward the port 88. So I go to my linksys wireless router 192.168.1.1 and single-port forward 88 UDP TCP (both) to 192.168.1.106.This doesn't solve the problem.I go to Open Port Check Tool and put in port 88 and it says I could not see your service on (my real ip) on port (88)

View 3 Replies View RelatedHere is what a wired portion of my network looks like:
internet---dsl modem---airport extreme---powerline ethernet adapter****powerline ethernet adapter---5 port switch---(ip camera & ioBridge 204)
The airport extreme is also hardwired to a PC that I use to view the IP camera. The issue I'm having is with the connection to the IP Camera. The connection to the camera worked for a long time, then starting dropping periodically and now it doesn't work at all.The ioBridge connected to the same switch as the camera connects to my network and the internet just fine.
Here's what I've done to troubleshoot: I plugged the camera in to my airport extreme and it worked fine. When I plug my camera into the other end of the powerline ethernet adapters, though, it doesn't work (even though the ioBridge does). I replaced the powerline adapters today (because they had worked before, so I guessed something had fried in them) but the connection still doesn't work.
When I ping the camera (when it's on the other side of powerline adapters and "not working") the response time is around 3ms (good) but there is about a 33% loss rate (bad).I'm guessing it's the loss rate that is keeping it from displaying the video stream on the computer...but I can't think of what changed between when it was working and when it stopped working that would cause it lose packets like that.
