Mar 8, 2011We lost internet connection and found out that our router's light is off. Is it possible that something is wrong with the adaptor?

View 1 Replies View RelatedYesterday we had a very brief power outage and until then everything worked fine. Small business that runs modem - router - switch. Since the power outage I can only get internet if I run straight into the modem. As soon as I run from the modem to any (tried 3 different ones) router I lose internet. I get a wireless signal on my router. I've reset the router to default settings. I've plugged in another router to the modem to check and I don't get anything from that router either (which was not plugged in during the power outage).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have done all the resets, factory resets, hard resets, and any other names. When I attempt to enter any sort of IP addresses, default Belkins and ones I see when viewing ipconfig, all it does is perform a Google Search with the numbers.Again, turning on wireless on my laptop and phone fail to find my router, which used to just be called "Belkin".Here is all the info that I believe you need:

I have wireless internet with a cisco valet router. My problem is that yesterday when I turned on a laptop that I use only once a week or so, now shows the signal strength of the network but I can not gain access to it. The main error message I get when I troubleshoot is that the network connection has come unplugged.Yes, I have the wireless switch turned on, on the laptop. That was the first thing I checked. I uninstalled cisco software on the laptop and reinstalled it and the laptop will not connect to the network.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have the latest flash installed. I am making use of all the options available to this router. USB drive set up as a file server, both radio bands have devices which attach. All wifi security is wpa2 with a complex key string. Also have pc’s attached to all lan ports. I also have all the wireless devices registered on the mac address filter for access set to enable/allow. I have a total of 9 mac address in the list. One lan device is on the DMZ. One address is reserved. Not sure what other details you need.Router is used for online gaming, video streaming, and typical internet browsing.

I connected the Router to the modem, and all the wired connected PCs were working perfectly. But then, i went to the setup page to configure the Wireless settings, and as soon I changed the SSID name, the connection internet connection droppedThe only way i had to fix this was by making a Hard Reset.after that, I also tryed changing values and settings from all the configuration tabs, and the wired connection was working properly, but as soon i changed any value from the Wireless tab, the internet connection dropped (even, in the diagnostics section, i could not do a ping to google. It says unknown host).
Earlier today I attempted to change the setting on my Westell 6100 modem such that it would simply bridge the connection to my Linksys WRT54GS router, basically involving setting the router to bridge only and turning DHCP off. Now I no longer get an internet connection through my router when previously the connection had worked perfectly fine before. I following the steps of cloning the MAC address to the router and have done the proper resetting steps (computer, them router, then modem) but I simply can't get an internet connection through my router. The process to set up simple bridging from the modem what supposed to end up with the internet light no longer turning on but the light turned back on following one of the resets.
Currently, I can connect to the internet through the modem just fine but I get nothing when I include the router. I'm not sure if there are some other settings I'm supposed to be changing as I can't seem to find anything past what I've already done when researching online. At this point I would just be happy reverting the settings I've changed but I don't know how to access the modem now that DHCP is off.Basically, I'd prefer to be able to get the router working with these new settings but if that proves too difficult (as I've heard it can be when trying to get Westell modems to work with Linksys routers) I'd like to learn how to access the modem and change the settings back to what they were (preferably in as simple terms as possible as I don't particularly understand what a lot of these settings/configurations do).(And a bit of an aside, but I had attempted to do this modem bridging to "fix" perceived internet speed problems. I've been averaging around 300Kbps download rates ever since I've had this internet connection from Verizon when the supposed download rates should be between 1MB and 1.3MB. Doing this modem bridging had been reported to fix some modem/router conflicts and improved connection speeds for some.)
I have a Compaq mini CQ10-100 Netbook, and I am trying to Make a Wireless internet connection through a D-link router. My ISP is Cox Cable. The Netbook is connected to my wireless network, but will not connect to the internet. It keeps asking me to transfer information, via thumb drive, from a wireless access point, but my router is my wireless connector and it doesn't have a USB port to plug in a thumb drive. How do I get this netbook hooked up to the internet?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have Linkline ADSL that was set up by them with a Netopia 2241N-006 modem and a Cisco 33674 wired router. We got a Cisco E2000 wireless router to replace the wired one. It sets up perfectly, in that I can see and connect to the wireless router just fine, but it has no Internet connection. Also, when we plug the cord straight from the modem into the computer (as was suggested by someone) it has no Internet connection, so it seems we need the Netopia modem for it work.I have connected to Cisco live chat three different times to try and find out how to make this work, and each time after making me give them all the information they insisted the uninstalling/reinstalling Cisco connect and then going through set up again it would work. On the second and third chats I even gave them the reference numbers for the previous chats so theiy could see that is what was already done, to no avail. Apparently that is the only solution they know. Then I called Cisco support on the phone (twice). The first time they insisted I hang up and I repeat the same procedure from the chats, even though I explained I had now done it three times and gave them the chat reference numbers. They said if I would not do that. The second time I called they told me that was not something they supported - using their router with an adsl modem - even though their instructions do cover it.
using the two routers together since I cannot get the wireless one to work alone. I went and bought a crossover cable, hooked the two routers LAN port to LAN port, changed the router's IP address to just outside the main router's range and disabled DHCP. This did not change anything, so I tried the one other idea I found online which was to assign the router a static IP address in the same range that the rest of the network is using, hook the two routers LAN port to LAN port with the crossover cable, and disable the DHCP. This did not work either.
When I try to connect to the internet I get IE cannot dislay the webpage. All connections show that they are working fine. I did the repair option for my LAN, it states that it is working & shows that it's connected.I tried to sign into MSN & got no connection. I ran the repair option & got a DNS & Keyports warnings.I am running Windows XP on my home computer

View 6 Replies View RelatedI was trying to browse the internet earlier, and I randomly just lost my internet connection. My homepage loaded up just fine, but then I tried to go to another site. It was taking a while to load. After about a minute a page finally came up that said "Server not found" (I use firefox). I can't get on any websites now and I can't get internet on any of my wireless devices either. When I right clicked my network icon on the toolbar and clicked on diagnose and repair it said "There may be a problem with the DNS. Windows attempted to find the well known host www.microsoft.com using dns. The server responded that the name was unknown." I have Windows Vista. Now I have no idea what I could have done. I didn't do anything out of the normal, just tried to go to a website that I frequently visit with no problems and this happened. This is what I get when I type ipconfig/all in cmd prompt. [code]

I followed this guide [TUT] Setting a static internal IP (Windows and Linux)but what has happened is that now the two machines can't connect to the internet.
I have just turned my PC on to find that i have lost connection to the internet through my desktop PC. I am using the wired connection to my router, and i also have my xbox connected to the router which is working ok too. My laptop also works when connecting to the router both wired and wirelesly.
My network adaptor on my desktop is a Nvidia nForce, i have tried updating the driver on this to no avail. Next i tried to ping the router but i get PING Transmit faild, error code 1231. I ran IPCONFIG /all and found that i had no default gateway set, and also it was saying that the ethernet adaptor was : Media Unoperational, but since i rebooted both the pc and router the media unoperational tag has gone.
On the network and sharing page it shows i am connected to an unidenfied network but there is a cross through the internet. It also says the access and Connection for the unitentified network are Local only.
I no longer have internet access from my home network ONLY on my desktop computer. Everything was working fine as always - then while I was in my Network and Sharing Center, and clicked on my ethernet connection, 'Local Area Connection 3', I accidentally disabled it. No big deal I thought, so I re-enabled the connection. Except for some reason, my connection is all screwed up now. The name of this connection was and always has been 'dkm2' and now it just says 'Network', with no internet access. I have unplugged the cord and plugged it into this laptop and it immediately recognizes 'dkm2' and connects flawlessly, so I know the problem is on the desktop computer's end, and not the cable or router. I have tried reinstalling the ethernet adapter, as well as reinstalling/updating all drivers for it.The network diagnostic tool turns up with a message that says the connection between either my ethernet adapter or router and the Internet is broken. No matter what I seem to try, I can't get my connection to go back to it's normal 'dkm2' connection and stop giving me a generic, disconnected 'Network'. I can't figure out what could have changed. All that happened was the disabling and enabling of Local Area Connection 3.

I called the Comcast service and the lady assistant did not even know what the Bridge cable is and I do not know ether since. View 1 Replies View RelatedI am not that good at troubleshooting network issue but luckily I was able to figure out a problem I had with internet connection not working through my Linksys router. My computer is connected hardwire through a wireless router (linksys) and I have 3 wireless devices that connect to the wireless router.I have had the wireless router for about a year and half. I set it up myself and have had no problems since day one until today. It was working fine this morning, my computer was on the whole time, I never shut it down and all of a sudden a couple hours later went back to my computer and couldn't access the internet. "No internet access" message on the taskbar right hand side. Not one of my wireless devices connect to the internet including my desktop that is hardwired.
I tried resetting the modem...no luck. I'm thinking outage or something else that had to do with my cable company. I called them, the lady had me try without the router, worked fine, problem with router.I called linksys since I am not good at troubleshooting router issues and did not want to reconfigure everything and start from scratch. The lady at linksys says the router is out of warranty and after a year they cannot provide free tech support and wanted to charge me for either two of their paid tech support which the cheapest was 30 bucks. After some time of trying to figure out the problem I notice my ip address was different.
I have an HP EliteBook 6930p with windows 7 installed and everything was working fine until i did a recent windows upgrade (might just be a coincidence) and i suddenly lost internet connection. My laptop picks up the router, shows full strength but i cannot connect to the internet wireless or Ethernet cable. I restored to a previous date and it worked fine, and all my other devices work fine (iPad, iPhone, other laptops). The trouble is when i connected to the internet again it up dated windows and i cant restore back to the original date anymore as it has gone from the list.
