I have an in-law with early stages of temporal lobe dementia. She lives at home alone and is still pretty independent but among other things she is really struggling with anything to do with times and dates. Diaries and the like are increasingly hard to manage. I am wondering about a technological aid. She has a WIFI network at her home. If there was a way I could set up a MONITOR on the wall that could display say a diary or calendar that I could update and change remotely?. I'd need a PC set up there to run the display, and then connect to that over the internet and control what it shows.Either way it needs to be something I initiate and control as needed, so she doesn't have to do anything like send a remote assistance request, because she can't really manage that.
I am trying to understand how to remote control a clients computer through the internet.
I have Symatec PCanywhere installed on both When i'm on the same connection (wireless internet).I can get it to work no problem. However when I try to remote in using a different internet connection it does not go through.
I've done some research and found out that instead of using the IP address it gives me (dynamically) [192.168.2.5] i need to aquire the WAN IP address from a website or through the router. As well as configuring virtual server through the router, and enable port forwarding in some way or another for specific ports.
i purchased a Dell N7110 from Dell last week, and a few days later I purchased a NETGEAR PTV2000 wireless display adapter. It was my understanding the N7110 would support the PTV2000; my N7110 specs are below.Originally, I downloaded the required software (Intel WIDI) and drivers from the Intel website.
The laptop and PTV2000 adapter seemed to start fine in that the security code was given on my TV screen and I was able to enter it in the Intel WIDI software. Next step was to select "connect" to the adapter. The connection was initialized, as the green light on the PTV2000 was flashing and my TV screen said "connecting", then "connected". At the moment it said "connected", my laptop screen immediately flashed black, then restored itself approx one second later with the graphics on the laptop screen larger (larger icons) than normal. Approximately one second after this occurred, the connection was lost and the Intel software stated the following error: "unable to send desktop to wireless display, try restarting the application. If the problem persists, try re-installing the Intel WIDI software".
I retried the software numerous times with same results. I uninstalled then re-installed the Intel WIDI software and drivers with the same results. I also uninstalled and re-installed the software, but got them from the Netgear website, and then later from the Dell website (all had Intel WIDI software to download), which all ended in the same results (original problem still exists). After countless tries of running Intel WIDI, the program would on rare occasions, lock up and become unresponsive, while the green light on the adapter was still flashing (connection being made) and the TV message said "connected". The screen never changed from "connect", the desktop image never appeared on the TV, and I would have to use task manager to shut the program down.
Netgear and Intel websites do not address this issue, other than saying "try uninstalling then reinstalling the software", which I did countless times. Web searches hint the real problem is in the Graphics drivers on the Dell - I did find a thread on this site (Dell site) complaining the PTV2000 would not play DVDs or Blueray, and the person changed the Graphics driver, but now cannot get Windows to boot - I believe the Dell techs are currently mailing him software to correct this problem. Because of this, I am very reluctant to change the Graphics drivers as I do not want to cause the same issue on my machine...I have not had any problems with the wifi side of things, in that I am always able to initialize a "connect" without issues, and it tries to connect but just never completely does... tell me if the original problem I stated above can be corrected, and the steps I need to take, or should I return the PTV2000 and forget the whole wireless display idea?
Side Note: I can provide the exact softeware and driver links I used if required, but didn't as there really wasn't much choice - The Intel site, Netgear site, and DELL site all provided short instructions and only one download option; Win 7 32 or Win 7 64. I used Win 7 64 option.

Is their a program i can use to see who is doing what then disable their monitor keyboard and mouse. I work for my college/student and i am the assistant admin, my teacher gave me full admin privileges. I would like to have this as untended program where they cant change any thing stays hidden in the back ground. I used team viewer but i have to have them to log each one.
I have some iMacs that I manage for, in addition to my primary PC computers, such as my Toshiba Windows 7 laptop, which is what I am currently most concerned with. What I would like to do, is Remote Desktop Control (I'll abbreviate that as RDC) these mac computers through the network from my Windows PC. I am aware that this is possible with either Google Chrome, or by checking an OSX setting that will allow for VNC applications to connect, but I would prefer it if there was some way to RDC these iMacs from my Windows laptop without needing to change their settings or install software-something like how Mac-Mac RDC connections work, where I can just select a computer from the network, type a password, and go.
I am developing the system remote control desktop from mobile phone through internet. I want how the connection is established between mobile phone and desktop through internet? What is the exact process of connection and internal structure of connection
TiVo and Pioneer offer remote control software for iOS and Android equipment. I've been using both for a while, and it's great stuff. When hardwired to the router. Behind the DAP-1522, not so much. The DAP works like a champ in every respect except in this application. Everything attached to it can hit the internet- the TiVo, the Samsung smart TV, my laptop via 1000baseT, and to anything else networked in the house. Presently the iPad can control the Tivo, but not the Pioneer. But Airplay on the iPad connects to the Pioneer with no problem. And then the iPad remote can control the Pioneer again.Another example is that the iPad can't find the TiVo, but my Android phone can. Usually.
I suddenly can't connect to the internet using IE or Firefox every time I try I get the message "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". My connection on my wireless picks up great and shows signal strength as excellent. I took it to a place that was offering free check ups and they said that I caught a virus which I never seen any sign of catching a virus when it worked and that it had wiped out one of my hard drives and they could fix it for $229.00. I don't have that kind of money so I don't know what to do.
I recently deleted Speed Bit Video Accelerator manualy, because it couldn't uninstall itself. After deleting it, Windows 7 wouldn't display web pages in either Firefox or Internet Explorer. I'm currently posting this message in my old Windows Vista laptop, so it's not my internet connection
I am getting the error message "internet explorer cannot display the webpage", my computer tells me i am connected to my wireless and that internet is available but it will not open any webpages, no matter which browser i try. I have disabled all firewalls and run diagnostics but it just tells me there is a problem with my router, despite the connection being perfect for other devices. My computer is relatively new and i'm sure its not a virus as i have run different anti-virus and malware softwares.
I cannot access one particular website - one that I regularly use. I have checked with other users - they can access the site.
This has been going on now for about 2-3 weeks and evertime I try to access the site I get the following message: "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"
I'm trying to connect to 192.168.1.1 in order to set up a password. When I type it in, I receive a message, Internet Explorer Cannot Display Webpage. Why can I not connect?
I have a lap plug into a wired connection and it has stop working, i have ran the windows fix program which didn't work, i plugged a different lap top into the wire and that works fine!
I connected to a hotspot that is available for Me to connect to. I connected to one, then I went to the little bars to make sure it's actually connected, It says "Internet Access" (Windows 7) Which means it's connected. Then I clicked on Internet Explorer, to go on the Internet, and It says.. "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" Then I clicked on "Diagnose Connection problem" It started to detect the problem.. When it was finished it said.. "Website (Yahoo!) is online but isn't responding to connection attempts."
I went to Tools, Internet Options, LAN Settings, and I checked the First two boxes. Where it says "Address" I put in [URL]then I went back, and went on the Internet but It still says ---"Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" Then I went back to Tools, Internet Options, and took off [URL]then tried again, then I went back to the Internet but it still said the same thing saying-----"Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" Then I clicked on "Diagnose Connection problem" and it ---started detecting the problem.. and when it was finished detecting it said...---"Windows could not automatically detect this network's proxy settings."
You only want "Automatically detect settings" checked. The second check box if for a configuration script or the like to setup IE settings. That is really only used by company's that want specific home pages and other settings set to match their networks. If anything is checking in the "Proxy Server" area, I would uncheck it as you won't go through a proxy since you are connecting to a hotspot. It is pretty rare for public locations to use proxy servers.I connected to a hotspot that is available for Me to connect to. I connected to one, then I went to the little bars to make sure it's actually connected, It says "Internet Access" (Windows7) Which means it's connected.
Internet Explorer Cannot Display the Webpage ?I'm already logged into certain websites but most of the time or in fact all the time today I'm kicked off and I receive an error "Internet Explorer Cannot Display the Webpage."
I have a sony vaio VGN-NW20EF running windows 7, It use to work fine but now I can't access the internet wirelessly. It detects and connects to networks wirelessly and it even says I have internet access but the msg cannot display the webpage keeps coming.
It works fine with the ethernet cable. It works fine wirelessly if I use my mobile phone as a hotspot as it's a HTC HD 2 and works as a router on the go, through the phone's internet. I've restored the computer to the earliest date available and no luck.
I have done so much research and tried almost everything on these forums, but still the internet wont load on my laptop. It is a Acer mini with Windows 7 starter. The other day the internet just stopped loading pages. It shows that it is connect to my router, and when I try to go to a page, it just says loading. I tried to connect with the ethernet chord from the modem and it does the same thing. I think there is a connection, but just wont load pages because the avast will update the virus definitions. I've tried to update the drive, reset the ipconfig. One thing I noticed is that the ip6v says not connected but the ip4v says internet. If I can do anything to get more info I surely will post it back up here, I just need to get my connection back up
There are 2 laptops (Windows XP and Windows Vista), 3 iPhones and a PS3 in my house which all run on WiFi (Linksys) and normally do so without any problems. Well, yesterday I woke up to find that when I looked at my connection status all of these were showing that they had 100% Internet connection but none of them will actually connect. My phone only tells me that it has no connection when I try and open Safari or any other app that uses Internet and my computer says that it Cannot Display Webpage.I have had this problem about 3 1/2 months ago and was able to have it fixed over by calling my Internet service provider and the Linksys customer support.
I received a new hp laptop from a friend with a cisco linksys e1000 router. The first time I hooked it up it got online and worked great. I downloaded some updates for windows and restated the laptop for them to take effect and now it won't get back online for anything. I even restored the computer to the previous settings. All I get is the error message "Internet Explorer can not display the web page. I am running windows 7 ultimate.
I have netbook with win xp It is connected wirelessly to modem the internet was working until we upgraded the modem , now i see on the netbook that it is connected to internet but when i open internet page it dispays server not found I tried the answers posted to repair ip or winsock but it didn't work
I am using CISCO ASA 5505. Client PC with Windows XP can use IE to make the VPN connection normally. However, client PC with Windows 7 cannot use IE to make the VPN connection. It just show the error of "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"
I had some viruses/malware that I was able to kill using skill.com freeware. Ever since, I have had no internet conectivity although signal is excellent. [code]
We have a ACE 4710 with a basic config, When clicking on a tab from a window within Interent explorer we occasionally get an issue with it returning: "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" The details show "Access is denied" accessing a particular line of a java script file.
We have put one web server out of service in the farm to make sure that this isn't a result of stickyness not quite working. We have tested extensively by going directly to the web server directly without the load balancer and cannot reproduce the problem but we can produce the issue within a few minutes when going to the load balanced address. [code]
Just bought a new Cisco e1200 router last week. When i first hooked it up, it was giving me extremely low (significantly lower than my old router) downloading speeds. After switching the networking mode from "mixed' to "Wireless-G only", the speeds went back to normal. I tried "Wireless-N only", but it didn't work after that. Seemingly, my computer does not work with Wirless-N?
It's been running okay now, but 2 things happen occasionally: When playing a game, I experience lag for a period of 5 minutes, or sometimes 20 minutes. It goes away on its own. Never happened with my old router. When surfing the internet, pages will refuse to load. The connection bars shown at the bottom right hand corner of my computer display a yellow triangle with an exclamation point. This goes away on its own after about 4-5 minutes. These problems come randomly every 3-4 or days, maybe a bit longer.
I installed a new Media link MWN-WAPR150N router and I can connect two laptops and an i Pad wireless but when I try to access the Internet through a Dell Dimension 4550 desktop which is directly connected to the router, I get the message "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage." I have tried unplugging the cable modem and router, downloading network drivers, repairing the connection, ip config /release and /renew, etc. and nothing has worked. The connection status shows as connected. I can ping the router successfully, but I can't ping a web site.
I wan to ask whether i can control and limit my internet speed on LAN or not cos nowadays i have internet shop, but i couldn't control download bandwidth of each customer who come to download. Sometimes, it's effected to other customer using internet too,
I would like to have the ability to turn off the internet access to my teens computers without effecting myself. I have parental controls on my computer which work great, but this does not work to the other computers that are able to connect wirelessly. I have a router but I am not sure how to access it.
I have a wireless Netgear WGR614v5 router, 54Mbps which is approx 6 yrs old. I also have the high speed cable internet service that provides up to 10 Mbps DL speed. Since my router still works, is there any reason I should replace it or is it possible it degrades in speed as it ages?
I have in my possession three E2000 and I wanted to buy 3 more, but the model seems to not be on sale anymore so I bought his successor the E2500.In the E2000 I used the Internet Policy menu to block internet access of certain computer by entering their mac address. In the E2500, they seem to have removed this menu to replace it with a Parental Control menu, which offers far fewer options, basically you can only block a computer that is connected to the router, you can not block a pc by the ip or by his mac address. Is there a way to have a menu similar to Internet policy in the E2500? A hidden menu, or a different firmware?
Why does my E1200 forget my Parental Control Password? This happens almost weekly and I have to use the "forgot password" option. It asks my security question, I answer it and set the new password to the same password it keeps forgetting. Why does this happen? Also, is there anyway to have total 24hr control on the Block Internet Access?
