Jan 25, 2012I use a C2950-24 switch, with IOS 12.1(22)EA12 release.When I try to connect in console mode, I can see the "Press RETURN to get started!" message, but it's not possible to me to have the # prompt.An "authorization failed" message is displayed. And the same message is prompted.
I try to recover password by following the recovery procedure. After the boot command, I never see the message "Continue with the configuration dialog? [yes/no]: ".

What I would like to do, is Remote Desktop Control (I'll abbreviate that as RDC) these mac computers through the network from my Windows PC. I am aware that this is possible with either Google Chrome, or by checking an OSX setting that will allow for VNC applications to connect, but I would prefer it if there was some way to RDC these iMacs from my Windows laptop without needing to change their settings or install software-something like how Mac-Mac RDC connections work, where I can just select a computer from the network, type a password, and go.

She lives at home alone and is still pretty independent but among other things she is really struggling with anything to do with times and dates. Diaries and the like are increasingly hard to manage. I am wondering about a technological aid. She has a WIFI network at her home. If there was a way I could set up a MONITOR on the wall that could display say a diary or calendar that I could update and change remotely?. I'd need a PC set up there to run the display, and then connect to that over the internet and control what it shows.Either way it needs to be something I initiate and control as needed, so she doesn't have to do anything like send a remote assistance request, because she can't really manage that.

I have Symatec PCanywhere installed on both When i'm on the same connection (wireless internet).I can get it to work no problem.However when I try to remote in using a different internet connection it does not go through.
I've done some research and found out that instead of using the IP address it gives me (dynamically) [192.168.2.5] i need to aquire the WAN IP address from a website or through the router. As well as configuring virtual server through the router, and enable port forwarding in some way or another for specific ports.

Dec 12, 2012TiVo and Pioneer offer remote control software for iOS and Android equipment. I've been using both for a while, and it's great stuff. When hardwired to the router. Behind the DAP-1522, not so much.The DAP works like a champ in every respect except in this application. Everything attached to it can hit the internet- the TiVo, the Samsung smart TV, my laptop via 1000baseT, and to anything else networked in the house. Presently the iPad can control the Tivo, but not the Pioneer. But Airplay on the iPad connects to the Pioneer with no problem. And then the iPad remote can control the Pioneer again.Another example is that the iPad can't find the TiVo, but my Android phone can. Usually.

All of them have Remote Desktop enabled (via System settings) and have Windows Firewall exceptions setup. They all have AVG Anti Virus and no other firewalls installed. They all also have static ips assigned.Windows file sharing is working fine between all of them. VNC also works with no problems.But for some reason, I could not get Windows Remote Desktop to work between any of themAnother weird thing that may or may not be related is that they can't ping other computers on the same network.This leads me to believe that this might be a networking issue.I have a DLink router (can't remember model) with a Tomato Firmware.I do not have port forwarding setup for Remote Desktop because I think (although I may be wrong) that they are only used for connecting from the internet, which I don't need. I only want local connections right now.

Oct 3, 2012I'm trying to setup remote access for my linksys 3200 so that I can configure it through the WAN port. I have turned on remote access, however when I try to connect I get a 404 error. The settings I have are:
When I try to access xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:9999 I just get a 404 error. I have allowed RDP access to a computer behind the router and this works fine on the same IP address. what else I have to do to allow remote management access?
UPDATE: I tried changing the port to 80 and it works. Change it back to any other number and it doesn't work. Modem is setup with a DMZ to the router's IP. Why does it only work on port 80? BTW I can't use port 80 because there is a website hosted behind the router.
Port Forwarding Setup - Remote Directly Into One Of Servers?
Jan 19, 2012I have a small network in my garage, it's basically made up of a bunch of test servers. Those and a win xp machine are all hooked up to a switch, and the win xp machine also has a wireless usb stick that is connected to my wireless router, and is being used to share internet to the rest of the machines. The test servers along with the NIC card on my win xp machine sit on a different subnet, however.When I remote into the win xp machine from my house, i can run a second remote desktop in the first session, into any of my servers. I want to do work on them, but its very laggy.
Is there a way I can setup a port either on the win xp machine or my wireless router so that i can remote directly into one of the servers? so if the win xp machine has a wireless ip address of 192.16.13.102, and one of the servers on the 2nd subnet has an internal ip of 192.2.2.4, can i have it so i can make, for instance, 192.16.13.102:6333 forward to 192.2.2.4? If not, is there any other way i can directly remote into one of the servers, by passing the first remote desktop into win xp? What settings would have to be the same across the line?

Jun 2, 2013I have setup a Remote access VPN on my ASA5505 firewall through the ASDM wizard.I can successfully connect with the Cisco VPN client. My firewall also shows me the VPN session and shows incoming Rx packets. However, Tx packets remain 0, so no traffic is going out. My ASA5505 is configured as router on a stick with 25 different VLAN's. I want to restrict traffic to one specific VLAN using a crypto map.When I issue a ping -t command on my connected Windows box, the firewall log shows me the following message:
"IKE Initiator unable to find policy: Intf outside, Src: 10.7.11.18, Dst: 172.16.1.1."
"This message indicates that the IPSec fast path processed a packet that triggered IKE, but IKE's policy lookup failed. This error could be timing related. The ACLs that triggered IKE might have been deleted before IKE processed the initiation request. This problem will most likely correct itself." [code] I have really no idea what's going on. I have setup a Remote access VPN countless times but this time it shows me the error as described above.

Jun 6, 2010I'm trying to set up a new switch, a 4506e, for a remote site. Most of our newer remote sites are using a 4506 and this is the first time I'm working with a 4506e. Our standard configuration, which was in use before I started here, has QoS settings. I'm not that familiar with QoS. Most of the QoS commands in our standard config aren't working in the 4506e. Does the 4506e have QoS? Is there some guide as to setting it up? Below are excerpts from the config we're using that are QoS related:
