AS I understand the terminology a I won't have enough room to do image backups (these back up all info incl OS ??) as on pc is usingb 677 gb and the other 400 gb ---- and anyway I can re-install windows if anything goes wrong...
SO---am I able to do this-
1. connect the ext- HDD to PC running win 7 64 bit....create a folder called "win 7 64 bit" and then drag and drop filesand folders into that folder(or use windows backup..which i am unfamilar with)
2. then connect to PC running Vista 64 bit ..create a f�lder called "Vista 64 bit" and do as above....
3. Do the same for the laptop running win 7 32 bit
Am I right in assumming that because it's just data I can put info from different OS on to it without and conflicts when connecting it to different Pc's?
Home Network :: How To Manage Data Sharing In A Little Intranet On Windows
Mar 10, 2012I should set up a network for a little enterprise.The requirements can be summarized as follows:
- All the "business" softwares have to be stored in a single computer (let's call it "the server"). The other computers (in this case there should be at most 2 or 3 computers) can execute these softwares through the server. So there are no local copies of those softwares on clients, only on the server.
- The main computer (the server) shares also a printer.
- All the computers in the network, are interconnected through a single wi-fi modem/router. Some of them are connected through the wi-fi interface and others through an ethernet cable.
the server, in order to perform some special procedures, has to connect to a special modem which connects it to a remote private network. In order to do so, the server disconnects from the local enterprise network because Windows does not allow me to stay connected to more than one network at the same time.The remote private network does not require to disconnect from any other network, it's just a constraint imposed by Windows.In the meantime, clients are not able to execute softwares anymore and cannot print anything.when the server is connected to the private network, it still needs to execute the "business" softwares.
Is it possible to keep the server connected to both the networks without denying the access to softwares, data and printers to anyone? If yes, how?If not, how can I design the topology of the network in order to share softwares and other data among all the computers (server and clients)? It's important that when the server connects to the private network every computer (including the server itself) can still access softwares, data and printers.
Controlling The Data Flow And File Sharing Between Computers Is Slow?
Aug 14, 2011I have 2 computers in my room which between them i very frequently share files between. Wirelessly they were both connected to my home's router until recently the router was removed, but will be back soon.The problem though, was that with using the router, file sharing between those computers was slow, and with the router gone, I was lost because there was no movement of data between the computers whatsoever, I had no crossover cable, but plenty of regular ethernet cable. Than I remembered something about gigabit lan not needing crossovers(both of the computers being gigabit) and I connected them, and marveled at the new way to share files. And more by the exponential boost in speed(800kb/s to a grand 12mb/s{though I still think that is slow for gigabit.}). Obviously I've overcome a problem, but that's not where this story ends, it comes with another problem. When the router is reconnected to these computers, will the files still transfer through there new found direct connection? or will it attempt to go through the router, only allowing me to get the speeds I want when one of these computers isn't connected to the router?

And data featching should prefferably be from many hosts, using multiple connections so that speed can be improved..

The switch uses the customizable port priority value, or the lowest port ID if both port priority values are the same".They explain that on S2, F0/1 is root port because it's lower than F0/2 but don't go beyond this.My understanding is that the following order is true with regards to priority of criteria (in this case), am I right?:
1. Lowest cumulative path cost back to the root bridge
2. In case of tie, the device with lowest Bridge ID
3. In case of tie, the port with the lowest received priority #
4. In case of tie, the port with the lowest local ID #
So, shouldn't this demonstration factor in the BIDs of S3 and S4 before the port priority and IDs of S2 ? For instance, if the BID of S3 was lower than that of S4, wouldn't F0/2 on S2 become the root port? I'm hoping I'm correct in this? Also I've not actually seen these four bullets in any of my official material for STP which I thought was a bit odd. I wondering if anyone else who has seen this before, considered the bridge ID aspect.

Nov 23, 2010I've got a UCS210 with about 8 VMs running on it (SBS2008, and a bunch of other 2003/2008 servers).Currently its hooked up to a unmanaged 3com gigabit switch and I'm only using a single Gb ethernet interface.I'm implementing a whole small business pro infrastructure internally here, and this will probably the the first a several hopefully easy questions.
What smartport role do I need to assign to the port that I'm hooking this box up to? Also, is there any type of trunking/load balancing I could do with the dual NICs built into the UCS to the ESW? Any general best practices info for integrating VMs into a cisco SB pro networ.

Apr 26, 2011my customer has FreeRadius, and I'm trying to get the server to assign a network admin role to a 5K running 5.0.3 code.This is based on the example given in this document: url...The server authenticates the user name, but will only put the user into the network operator role. This is confirmed by checking the output of show user-account and debug security user-db.The Radius test using the same credentials passes the authentication test. I'm sure the problem is that the N5K dosent understand the VSA format of the attribute, and that this is a simple syntax problem.

I remember it had something to do with a proxy. If I am downloading a file (1gb) on Desktop A and for some reason I have to stop it, then internet connection is desktop A , desktop B and laptop is almost killed. To get the speed back, I need to reboot Desktop A. All computers are on Windows 7.

Jan 2, 2012We currently have a single data centre with 2 x 100Mbps internet links from a single ISP. The 2 links are routed and terminate on separate ISP switches/routers with a /30 IP address, the links terminate on 2 Cisco 3900 series routers in the DC. eBGP and iBGP has been configured to provide high availability. We are currently using a private BGP ASN from the ISP and /24 subnet which is routed to the primary 3900 router and to the backup 3900 router in the event of a primary router failure.
We are looking to add a second data centre for DR and we need the /24 to failover over to the DR data centre in the event that the primary DC fails. The second DC will only have a single 100Mbps internet connection as resiliency in DR is not required. I understand how eBGP/iBGP willl be setup and configured for both sites but I would like to know the pros/cons and peoples experiences of using a single ISP to provide internet connectivity for both Data Centres? I understand that I will need a public ASN if I use separate ISPs.
Is using a single ISP for all 3 internet connections acceptable? The circuits will be connected to resilient parts of the ISPs network. If we decide to use a second ISP, would it be recommend to use ISP1 for the Primary and DR data centre primary links and ISP2 for the Primary data centre backup link?
