View 1 Repliesi have a little annoying problem with my E4200. V1 with the latest 04 fw. It seems, that after many hours of downloading at full speed (only one torrent at a time) the speed goes down, and up again, and becoming unstable. My max download speed is 1.5 Mb/s, and it can drop from that, to 50 kb/s, and then up again. and i have no internet access when that happens, but it only last 10-20 seconds and then its back again. Sometimes i get that yellow warning sign on the taskbar which says "No Internet Access" but not always.
Seems like its happening after many hours of downloading at full speed. im on the latest firmware, have tried different channels, 20 Mhz only on Channel Width, different names on the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz channels.. i use the 2.4Ghz channel btw. Otherwise its stable, and i have had no problems while gaming online.
I am getting 50% downloading speed when I connect through wireless router (Tp-link wr740N) but the browsing speed is ok and speedtest, net also giving good result only download speed is slow. When I connect directly from modem, I get 100% speed but when I connect wirelessly through router I get 50% downloading speed.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am currently connected to my router via a 100 megabit cable (the router port itself is either 100M or 1G, I can't remember). There are no free ports on the router, but I want to connect additional computers to the network. If I get a gigabit switch and connect two of my PCs to it using gigabit cable, can they communicate at gigabit speeds, or will they be limited by the 100M connection back to the router? (In other words, does traffic between two computers on the switch have to be sent through the router, or not?)
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm having an issue with my laptop. Although, from my provider, it should be possible to establish a connection at 25'000 kbit/s (download), max speed is at about 800 kbit/s. I'm only about 20 feet away from where the router is located and I don't use any phones (except for a cell phone). I read on this board, that I might have to change the wireless settings on the router and change the radio band but didn't manage to do so. I'm using Mac osx and a wireless connection.

I put the dsl modem in bridge mode so the E4200 will do the logon to AT&T with my credentials. If i do a speed check using CNET internet speed test, from both a desktop (wired 1gb card) and any laptop in the house (all draft n 2.4 or 5.0), it ranges anywhere from 3 meg to 4.3 meg. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Netgear 600 dual band router connected to a DOCIS 3.0 cable modem with a 25mps internet connection from my ISP, should be fast right? When I run a speed test on my comp I get 10-13 mbps download on average. Here's the issue, upon visiting my mothers house and running the same speed test I got very similar results. She is running a Lynksys G router on a DOCIS 2.0 cable modem with 12mps connection. My question is, how can this be so, am I at the limits of my comps g network card? as a disclaimer I would like to note I am connected to the G band on both routers.

The laptop have a wireless card with G standart. On speed test makes 14 - 17 Mbps download, which is normal. When I try to download something on my PC maximum speed is 400 - 600 kbps, on speed test is 2 - 4 Mbps. When I connect my PC with cable to my router speed was 10MB/s (80 - 85 Mbps). I try to change channels on wireless network, but there is no change. I downloaded the latest drivers for this WLAN, but the speed is the same. I change the slot on the mainboard and to flash the firmware on my router, but there is no change.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've recently noticed that i get a large drop in download speed when i either play a game or watch a video on full screen. I first noticed it when using a program called jDownloader. I contacted the developer and he told me to increase the priority of the task "javaw.exe". This did not solve the problem. The problem also occurs during any form of downloading (Steam or browsers. I haven't tested torrents yet.)

I even went to an internet testing site to test the speed and got back a result of 17Mbps.Anyway, when I download a file, it's only downloading at 200KB/sec, and that's right after I tested the connection speed of 17Mbps. When I had DSL at 5Mbps, it went about 600KB/sec (which makes sense), now that I have this cable internet that's faster, the download speed is slower

I am with Virgin media (UK) and have the 20mbps fiber optic connection. My area has recently been having problems with the broadband and Virgin has recently fixed these problems. However I used to get around 19mbps now that the problem is fixed my computer which is wired to the router gets about 0.4mbps downstream... However the 5 wireless computers all get 16mbps which is pretty good for them. Windows tells me that its a firewall issue and I currently can't use two programs, spotify and steam. They both have firewall issues, even if I turn off my firewall which is the windows one. I also have avast, and when I turn that off, still no good. I used OpenDNS, stopped using that flushed my DNS, that didnt work. I tried to optimize my computer settings, by changing various values in Regedit. All of this has done nothing. I should add that I have recently re-installed Windows 7 so on this fresh install it has never had decent internet speed. Which I thought was weird.. I have basically had these problems since the fresh install. All of my drivers are up to date.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen wired to the router I consistently get 10meg up and down, so the connection itself is fine. When I use wireless on my laptop, I get around 0.1meg down and 10meg up. The router is fine because I still get 10meg up and down testing on my iPhone, and the laptop is fine because I get 8meg up and down on my friend's wireless network. There must be something specific that's incompatible between my laptop and my router. I've already tried changing the channel, used inSSIDer to pick unoccupied channels (4+8) with no occupied channels either side. Using N-only mode, channel bonding, tried protected mode on and off, QoS on and off.

I really need to find away to speed this up as the overall files i want to transfer are over 5GB.You can read a bit more about it here: [URL]
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen connected to my router on my main desktop, I get download speeds of about .3-.85 mbps, I have comcast and a linksys N router, as well as a N wireless adapter in my desktop. If I use my laptop, I get around 10 mbps download speed, (Speeds are as of [URL]) but they still remain at .3 mbps on my desktop. I have tried two different wireless adapters in my computer. One is the Linksys AE2500 Dual Band N adapter, and the other is an ASUS N13 N Adapter. I have gotten the latest drivers of both adapters, but speeds stayed very low. When I connected the computer via ethernet cable, it ran at 16mbps. So I think that something must be wrong with some wireless settings, since I've tried 2 different adapters and was getting the same result, unless both were faulty I suppose. I also don't think it's my router's issue, because the wireless is working great on other wireless devices. I am using windows 7 on the desktop.
