My ISP tested my connection and told me my signal is very weak. I can no longer play games online because I lag tremendously. I can't steam videos while someone else is using the internet either. Also I can't access it on wireless devices unless I am in view of the router. I'm not sure what caused my connection to suck butI have the essential plan from cox.com. We have cable internet through a wireless router. It seems to be the case that after we have had a router for about a year, my wife begins having trouble with her internet connection; slow speed, no connection, weak signal, etc. Resetting the router and cable modem will fix the problem, but the fix is only for a short time (an hour or a day). We purchase and install a new router, and everything is fine for about a year, then the problems re-emerge.I can't believe that a router "wears out" after a year or so, but that is certainly how it appears.My wife has a Toshiba laptop running Windows 7, I have a Mac, and our son has a Samsung with WIN 7. I don't experience these problems, and my son does not to the extent my wife does. There is obviously something going on with the Toshiba or its interface with the router, but rebooting the computer doesn't have any effect.

I used BT previously without any problems but now use Orange and now using the Internet downstairs is useless(weird flat configuration). The router is upstairs, next to TV(same location as the BT router). I dont know why the wireless Internet signal has become very weak. The only way I can use the Internet if I sit a few feet from the router. Even then, streaming videos on youtube still takes a while compared to BT. This affects all devices using wireless connection - even my Iphone is useless when used downstairs.
Signal interferance/ hacking? Router? Wireless adapter is up to date.

Having an issue with my Belkin N600 router - when initially installed it was working fine but in the past week it has gtten slower - if I connect directly to my DSL modem my speed is 1.5 MBS when I use the router connection my speed drops to .1 MBS - tried resetting to factory defaults & that did not work also tried resetting my modem *& router still having the same issue.

It is set to dummy mode so it should just pass through to the WRTG54S router which handles the DHCP.2) I have 6 computers sucking the internet off of the router. I am now using my dell optiplex 755, with windows xp sp3. The first set up was with wireless ,which works fine, but now I am trying to use the ethernet to netgear switch, to comcast modem, from dell desktop, I get error that says,TCP/IP is not enabled for thisconnection.Can not proceed. I have a 2nd pc that i want to add to my basic home network. I have installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit yet still have issues connecting to my router. There is basic activity but nothing on the internet I have tried to use command line netsh to force DHCP on it says it is but I am getting a subnet mask of 255.255.0.0 when everything else is 255.255.255.0 not sure if this matters as there are only 4 devices on the network.

My problem is I can not connect to any ftp server or any database server using my home internet connection. But i can connect to the same servers using my work internet or even using my 3G mobile connection.I tried to contact with my service providers with no luck.I am using a Zyxel wireless router. Motorola Surfboard 6121, Every since Com-cast has updated their network (two months ago), my Internet connection is VERY unstable.Com-cast says it is my problem because I can get reliable service at high speed using just my laptop: Win 7, and the Motorola modem. The modem does show high speed connection (blue light) when the only thing connected is the laptop.If I connect the rest of the home network; ,LinkSys BEFSR11 router, Netgear FS #108 10/100 switch, then my laptop. The Surfboard modems light turns orange (lower connection speeds). do I need to replace my NetGear switch and my router? This constant up and down intermittent connection is terrible!

I bought the WMP600N because Linksys and Microsoft listed it as 'compatible' for Windows 7 x64. My experience:
- unstable and weak connection
- pings to websites like google.com drops, average: 1 out of 3
- low signal, on the same spot my three years old HP-laptop with 'a build in wireless card' has full signal strength in Windows 7
- it works well under Windows XP (32 bit)
I am convinced that drivers for the WMP600N are not ready for Window 7 x64. Linksys (or Ralink, which developed the chipset), release a proper driver for the WMP600N.

I'm an IT professional with more than 10 years experience. I have spent last 5 days trying to figure out why the wifi connection to this router is so slow, but still no luck. I'm getting only 13Mbps even if my laptop is next to the router! (wired connection worked ok)
I have tried all sort of setting combinations, 2.4GHz/5GHz; N only/ G,N Mixed; Auto/20MHz bandwidth; different channels; WPA2 encrypted vs open; disable firewall; wmm enabled/disabled; 1.0.0.26/1.0.1.0 firmware... no matter what I try, I always get only 10 - 15Mbps speed.
Once I replace this router with my old router, it worked perfectly --- getting 70 - 80Mbps with exactly the same testing environment and configuration.

i got an issue with vpn and cisco rv100w, router is configured well and computers and iphone can connect with PPTP. Problem became when we map NAS drive from computer or we move data (1-4 Mb). Seems connection go down, speed is so slowly and drop the connection.Is it from router? or from Internet provider?
More data, If I connect to http of router/NAS .. all go fine, only when we need data from NAS (map drive by windows) copy, open files, ..., connection is so slowly and drop connection.

My Router has been gone from running at bout 7Mb download speed to 500Kb download speed. When the router is restarted using the menu software it will run quicker, but only for 20-30 second then back to a slow speed. It was off while we were on holiday in August and has not been any good since. Its a shame as it only 2 years old.

I've recently upgraded from a 512k adsl connection to a 16mb fiber optic connection.Whereas I never had a problem previously, my rvs4000 slows to a crawl once or twice per week. The only solution seems to be to cycle the power since the admin interface freezes. I also have to cycle the power on my two wireless ap to get them back up.I believe I have the latest firmware, is this a common problem on a faster connection?

I am currently having a problem connecting to the internet on my desktop connection. It is a wired connection from the modem straight to my desktop's ethernet port.It has been fine for a long time until today where it is suddenly unable to connect to anything internet-related at all or takes a long time to load even half of the page.My desktop is running on windows 7 and I was using avast antivirus until i tried uninstalling it in an attempt to fix the issue but to no avail.I am able to use the cmd and ping to other websites but the problem is, all of them have a latency ranging from 500-1000ms, even websites that are local to me.I have tested the connection on my laptop and it seems to work properly without all the problem stated. I have problem with my Internet connection. Recently my Internet connection often get slow. There are 3 connections on the server running Windows Server 2003. 1st is External, 2nd is Internal and 3rd is VPN (please see attahement). There is nothing to do with External and Internal connections, and everytime the Internet connection get slow, I have to disconnection VPN (connection) and connect it again.

About a week ago I changed over 9 HP Procurve switches that were previously stacking in series (yeah, daisy-chain) to a Access-Distribution type scenario with 2 (or 4 on server switches) Gb ports on each switch Trunked together connecting to a central full 48x Gb switch.
During this I updated firmwares on all the switches (most still on their shipped 5-8 year old versions) to the latest stable release (and in the process found out that HP switch firmware is absolutely brutal and untested - See ProCurve 2510G FW 11.16 as an example) .
I saw vast improvements across the network immediately after the change (wow, really? 9 48-port switches effectively sharing a single 1Gb line to the servers and internet was a bit slow? Don't tell my co-workers, they don't think that's possible ) .
The only thing that I didn't see an improvement in was on some Linux and BSD servers, which would top out at 11MB/s doing a SMB (SAMBA) transfer. These are managed systems part of our business system, but we still need to be able to pull local backups for ourselves. So I contacted our vendor. The vendor confirmed that the line speed is showing as 1000T-FDx (same as the switch is showing).
Vendor is now claiming that after these changes were put in place, the speed on their servers (and their servers ONLY) was reduced to a maximum of 5MB/s (~60Mb/s?) doing rsync transfers between themselves. And they are all on the same 2510 (48 port all 10/100/1000), which makes absolutely no sense whatsoever to me. Furthermore this is on the ONLY switch on the entire network that had an updated firmware already installed - that's not even a possibility here.
I put some windows servers on that switch and can get 60MB/s+ all day (SMB transfers). I've also tried from their one server that I can access to doing an rsync or scp to another BSD box, and max out at 15MB/s (with 100% CPU usage on the test box - I'm assuming the decryption is pretty heavy?)There is absolutely no QoS, limiting, or any possibility of throttling the links the servers are on the switch. There are no excessive broadcasts saturating it, and the ports and cables test fine.

For the past two weeks or so, my internet connection on my pc has become extremely slow(from 200kb to 10). Not only has it gotten slower, i also cannot download anything without the connection stopping. The problem, i believe began a couple months ago with just youtube videos streaming slower and downloads stopping ever few minutes, but until these past two weeks its never been that much of a issue. I know the problem is isn't my dsl because it works fine with other internet capable electronics so it must be a software/driver issue.The svchost uses up 100% of the CPU when something tries to update so it likely might be a windows based program acting up.

I subscribe to Comcast internet service, at 10 mb/s. When connected wirelessly on my HP laptop, my internet is painfully slow, around 490 kb/s.
