One router is in a different bedroom to mine which my uses to connect to the internet. When this router is switched off,would it be possible to just have a second router in my room which I switch on and continue to use the net?

(which I don't think is the problem, as I have tested without the switch and it still times out) I only ever really notice it when im browsing on the web on any site. I use a wired connections I have not noticed this on any other machine how ever the timeouts are random and streaming/downloading seems to work fine.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI just switched to TWC from AT&T and one of my computers running Vista, via wireless, cannot open any inet sites. The browser appears to do its DNS thing, but it sits WAITING for the site then says it can't connect. I have 3 other computers, Vista and W7, and an Xbox that connect OK. IPCONFIG shows valid IP addresses, DNS and gateway. Firewall/AV is off. It connects fine via wire. AND it connects with no security on the router. The router is a Cisco E3000. The laptop is an HP.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a HTPC that I use to feed two XBOX extenders (all are hardwired, through a switch). I was using the onboard Realtek NIC, but having some stuttering issues for live and recorded TV feeds. I installed a new Intel NIC, but cannot get the Xboxs to connect back using that connection. Everything else is working (Internet, NAS drives, etc) with that card, only the Xbox extenders. I did delete the original connection and tried adding back as new, but have since had to revert back to the original NIC.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThey came and installed a router and disconnected my old one. I then connected my new ISP router to my switch and now Im just stuck. At one point I was able to connect to my drives but was unable to connect to the internet. But once I call the ISP they had me change setting for Ipv4 changed defualt gateway, Ip address and DNS after that I was unable to reconnect to my drives. I've done full shut downs and restarts and nothing has worked. 1 of the computers connects to the server through wifi. I also run a VPN.

They are the same distance from the wireless gateway.

Bluetooth was working fine until I updated the drivers for Windows 7 from Dell website. Upon installing the latest bluetooth driver, it won't get switced on even after pressing Fn+F11. When I tried to reinstall it pops out "Switch on Bluetooth" message several times, but as usual fails to switch on.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble with a newly configured install. Basically it seems that my centrally switched guest SSID is not functioning. As you change AP groups, which should change the interface associated with the SSID and also the dhcp client address, the client is retaining the original dhcp address from whichever AP group they first associated with.
I also have a locally switch WPA2 SSID at each location which is working fine. Clients are able to change dhcp address correctly as they move between AP groups. It just doesn't seem to be working on the guest network, which is odd because it was working earlier in the install. It has only started having issues yesterday afternoon.
The interface above is assigned to the guest SSID in one of the AP group. I assume this has something to do with it but I've been over my DHCP assignments on the core switch, local switch, controller, and dhcp server and can find no issue with the configuration..
I am not sure why as I am not using DOT1X at all. The guest is a pass-thru and the WPA2 network is just WPA + WPA2 with TKIP and AES. No DOT1X anywhere on the controller...

I got a retired Zyxel Zywall USG200 from work. Its working just subs ran out. Was thinking of putting it on my home network, any reason not to? I'm a sys admin, not network engineer, so while I'm capable I'm not an ace with this type of equipment.. Which is why I want to mess with it. I'm currently RTFM and it seems pretty straight forward. View 12 Replies View RelatedI am trying to enable the workgroup bridge mode on the 5ghz 802.11N radio of a Aironet 1262N, but when I select the workgroup bridge mode from the GUI the radio becomes disabled. If I select the Access Point role from the GUI then the radio instantly becomes enabled. The same thing happens if I attempt the same procedure with the 2.4ghz radio as well. I can get the radios from both bands enabled if I select the Access Point role. I made sure to check that both radios were not set to workgroup bridge as well. I am running 12.4(25d)JA1 code on the AP. This is my first time working with this type of AP.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have two mac laptops and am trying to copy a directory with a number of PDFs in it. The files aren't particularly large, but there are many of them. At some point in the process the router stops and must be turned off and on before it will respond again either wirelessly or wired. I have tried the same experiment with both devices wired and the router works fine. I have tried changing the MTU, channel, beacon setting, etc. as other forum posts have tried. I tried reflashing the firmware, resetting to factory defaults and reconfiguring. So far no success. Cisco support wants me to return the router. Frankly I'm at the point of considering the former Linksys/Cisco products complete rubbish. I am going to have to buy a new router even if I return this one since I can't be without a router for any length of time.

I accidentally connected to computer fix it firm that linked to my PC and wanted a large sum to fix the problem which he said was due to large number of temp?? internet files and once removed he would change the IP address of the desktop computer? Is this diagnosis logical and can I do it on my own. Hardware is E1000 v2 according to sticker on back.The firmware update failed (no reason given) and the router now hangs in limbo where all it does is flashing the power LED.I set my PC to 19?2.168.1.2 and TFTP'd the firmware over to 192.168.1.1 - no errors reported and 192.168.1.1 is pingable. Held reset for 30s, then powered down the router for another 30s. On power-up the router still flashes the power LED.
I installed an IP camera, and had to change my E1000 router settings to a static IP address. Now I can't access the router settings. 192.168.1.1 is still the default gateway, but it won't open in any browser.
I'm reluctant to do a reset because it took me quite a while to figure out how to get the IP camera and port forwarding working (it does!), and I'd hate to do it all again and come to the same place. I'm not very good at this stuff, and it's a small miracle that I did it once.
Can you use your WRT54G router with the newer WRT310N router to extend your wireless signal? How?

For some reason got error message. tried to redo setup and got message router not recognized. used laptop and found out that wireless works fine.
