This happened after I put on an ubuntu version called ICE. Now, if I load eg puppy linux the wireless adapter is invisible. I reinstalled Visa and it saw the wlan adapter but doesn't auto recognise now so I have to switch on manually. Can I put in a new adapter with 'n' capability?

View 7 Replies View RelatedWireless service on Dell laptop computer had been running fine for 4.5 months until underground Comcast cable failed, presumably due to freezing and thawing in cold New England soil. All Comcast service went out, TV, Internet cable modem, etc. Service was restored with above ground cable, and wireless service returned to other devices in household, but not the Dell laptop. I am wondering if my wireless card itself was damaged in the event, as no software fixes I have tried have worked. However, the device manager says the Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN Mini-card is working properly and the driver software for the service is up to date.

I am working on a Compaq cq50 which I have re-formatted running Vista Home Premium.It connects fine with my LAN, and also connects wireless when I push the wireless switch...however it won't connect wireless automatically when I boot..I always have to push the button.I don't think that is normal.I went to services and stopped the auto wlan and then deleted the existing profile and then re-established the wlan services and account..

View 3 Replies View RelatedI would like to setup a 2504 to have one Guest WLAN and one Staff WLAN with a controller port for each WLAN connected to different devices.
I would prefer to connect the WLC Guest port to an ASA 5510 and the WLC Staff port to an internal 2960S switch. Will this work? I haven't setup a 2500 series controller previously.
I am having trouble with a newly configured install. Basically it seems that my centrally switched guest SSID is not functioning. As you change AP groups, which should change the interface associated with the SSID and also the dhcp client address, the client is retaining the original dhcp address from whichever AP group they first associated with.
I also have a locally switch WPA2 SSID at each location which is working fine. Clients are able to change dhcp address correctly as they move between AP groups. It just doesn't seem to be working on the guest network, which is odd because it was working earlier in the install. It has only started having issues yesterday afternoon.
The interface above is assigned to the guest SSID in one of the AP group. I assume this has something to do with it but I've been over my DHCP assignments on the core switch, local switch, controller, and dhcp server and can find no issue with the configuration..
I am not sure why as I am not using DOT1X at all. The guest is a pass-thru and the WPA2 network is just WPA + WPA2 with TKIP and AES. No DOT1X anywhere on the controller...
I am trying to enable the workgroup bridge mode on the 5ghz 802.11N radio of a Aironet 1262N, but when I select the workgroup bridge mode from the GUI the radio becomes disabled. If I select the Access Point role from the GUI then the radio instantly becomes enabled. The same thing happens if I attempt the same procedure with the 2.4ghz radio as well. I can get the radios from both bands enabled if I select the Access Point role. I made sure to check that both radios were not set to workgroup bridge as well. I am running 12.4(25d)JA1 code on the AP. This is my first time working with this type of AP.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just switched to TWC from AT&T and one of my computers running Vista, via wireless, cannot open any inet sites. The browser appears to do its DNS thing, but it sits WAITING for the site then says it can't connect. I have 3 other computers, Vista and W7, and an Xbox that connect OK. IPCONFIG shows valid IP addresses, DNS and gateway. Firewall/AV is off. It connects fine via wire. AND it connects with no security on the router. The router is a Cisco E3000. The laptop is an HP.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a HTPC that I use to feed two XBOX extenders (all are hardwired, through a switch). I was using the onboard Realtek NIC, but having some stuttering issues for live and recorded TV feeds. I installed a new Intel NIC, but cannot get the Xboxs to connect back using that connection. Everything else is working (Internet, NAS drives, etc) with that card, only the Xbox extenders. I did delete the original connection and tried adding back as new, but have since had to revert back to the original NIC.

At one point I was able to connect to my drives but was unable to connect to the internet. But once I call the ISP they had me change setting for Ipv4 changed defualt gateway, Ip address and DNS after that I was unable to reconnect to my drives. I've done full shut downs and restarts and nothing has worked. 1 of the computers connects to the server through wifi. I also run a VPN.

Bluetooth was working fine until I updated the drivers for Windows 7 from Dell website. Upon installing the latest bluetooth driver, it won't get switced on even after pressing Fn+F11. When I tried to reinstall it pops out "Switch on Bluetooth" message several times, but as usual fails to switch on.

(which I don't think is the problem, as I have tested without the switch and it still times out) I only ever really notice it when im browsing on the web on any site. I use a wired connections I have not noticed this on any other machine how ever the timeouts are random and streaming/downloading seems to work fine.

I got a retired Zyxel Zywall USG200 from work. Its working just subs ran out. Was thinking of putting it on my home network, any reason not to? I'm a sys admin, not network engineer, so while I'm capable I'm not an ace with this type of equipment.. Which is why I want to mess with it. I'm currently RTFM and it seems pretty straight forward. For over a month now my laptop has been unable to connect to the internet via a wireless connection. It will connect to the network, but that's as far as it goes. Resetting the router does nothing, and the same can be said for resetting the network wireless adapter. However connecting via the LAN cable to the Router will allow me to connect to the internet and use it normally.I've even tried deleting the wireless information for my network off the computer and re-inputting it but that didn't solve the problem either.I have an HP Pavilion g7 notebook PC that is running Windows 7. I got in it June 2012 brand new and have had nothing but problems with the wireless. It worked fantastic for the first few months and then this happened for the first time. I managed to fix it by myself that time, but I don't remember exactly what I did. It worked alright for the next few months but it was kind of spotty and temperamental. And now it's not working at all. I've tried everything I can think of to fix the problem but nothing has worked so far. According to the HP support Assistant my wireless adapter is called "Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 1030"

I unplugged and plugged back in the router, and that worked and I was able to connect with no problem. But today, that didn't fix the problem. I have restarted my computer and the router several times, I have deleted the corresponding wireless profile under "manage wireless networks" list, I have turned off my McAfee firewall to see if that was blocking the connection, I have tried connecting manually through the network and sharing center, I have troubleshooted my wireless adapters (Atheros AR5009 802.11 a/g/n and Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter), I have turned off and turned back on my HP wireless assistant, I have updated the dirvers for the two adapters, I have installed the latest windows updates, I have done all I can think of. And it's not the router, because my cell phone can connect, as well as the other computers in the house, without any problems.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a HP Pavilion desktop with an internal wireless media device installed (though it shows up as "USB 802.11g adaptor").However, since a few days ago, it suddenly stops working every few minutes, or sometimes even after a few seconds of connection, claiming the device isn't connected, reconnecting two or three seconds later,as if I had replugged it in again.Everything seems correct in ipconfig when the device is properly connected, and a full reinstallation did'nt solve the problem.
