Servers :: Map Drives From Windows Clients To SUN / UNIX
Aug 16, 2011
Working on Windows desktops and cannot map drives to unix servers without undoing a particular windows update. network policy pushes this update out again. Cannot change that policy....Active Directory Bridge solution needed to map drive letters from windows users to Unix (SUN) systems?
I was using CiscoWorks LMS4.0 on a Windows server 2008 R2. Now I wanted to do an upgrade to the newest LMS 4.1 version and in the same time switch to the new Linux soft appliance. After that I copied all the backup data to the appliance, I launched the "restorebackup.pl" script and unfortunately got the error "The Backup archive is from WINDOWS . But the current OS is UNIX. Restore is not supported across OS." Is there eventually any possibility to however migrate the data to the appliance?? As Cisco is offering the 2 platforms, there should be a possible migration path.
At the company I work for, there are a few "network drives" to which employees are given access so that any mutual file stored thereon may be shared between and edited on demand. Not the best model, I know.Went to the server room a few minutes ago and found that "network drives," (P:), (L:) and (M:) seem to be invisible. Back at my workstation, I opened My Computer and saw all three on my screen.
I have a windows 2008 foundation server at a clients property and they wish to have users access shares on a data drive that is seperate on the server.I have the server setup with active Directory Users and logon scripts to their local shares on the data drive but need to setup VPN so they can use their mapped drives at home.
I have two Windows 7 Ultimate computers and around 10 Windows XP (Home and Professional, SP2 and SP3) computers trying to connect to it. It's just a LAN (no internet access).I have set all of the password-protected sharing off on the Win 7 systems. I have tried opening up ALL of the permissions and such (since security is not really an issue). When I try to map the network drive, it won't let me merely connect to it. So, I have to click map network drive on the XP computer and hit "login with other credentials" and enter the username/pass for the user account on the Win 7 machine (we'll say Bob for user and Smith for password for the sake of example). It will mount the share (which is actually the C: root of the drive) just fine.
The only problem is the moment you restart the Windows XP system, it will lose the connection. My fix for it was to create a .bat file that contained the following: [code] I put it in the Progam FilesStartup folder to run upon boot. For the most part, it seems to work after a fashion. Some of the computers, though, will drop the connection to the two Windows 7 systems and need to be rebooted 1-2 times before they get it back again. Even clicking the .bat file manually will have the same result (you will have to reboot) if it drops the connection while you're using it. Plus, sometimes it doesn't map the drive correctly (I assume because the batch file is running before the connection has a chance to initialize on the LAN).I've also tried adding an "Everybody" user to the permissions on the Win 7 systems with full access, but it only seemed to cause problems with the existing connections. It might also be prudent to mention that both the Windows 7 and Windows XP systems are all 32 bit. I've also disabled the firewalls on the two Windows 7 systems. Neither of them have any antivirus or security software installed.
I have successfully configured my DHCP server because I can ping it from the clients PC and my clients PC automatically grabs IP from my DHCP. How my clients can have access to internet. Here is my hardware setup: 1. I connect clients PC and one DHCP server in one unmanaged switch2. I have my Bell DSL Modem but not connected yet to one of these machines. I do not know how I can configure it yet to work with my machines. The IP I assigned started at 10.10.200.10 to 10.10.200.90How do I connect the DSL and configure so that it may give everyone access to internet?
We have 30 remote workers which we have recently acquired which are being set up with the AnyConnect client to connect to our head end ASA 5510. For security purposes, we have to allow them access to only 3 of our local internal servers, all on our 10.10.X.X/16 subnet. The remotes are being issued a 10.10.50.X/24 address via DHCP on the ASA when connecting. I thought this would be as simple as creating an access list but have not had any luck doing so. In addition, we need to allow them full access to servers in a datacenter connected to our same head end ASA via a site-to-site VPN while they are connected to us using AnyConnect.

I'm trying to get a couple clients to talk to my Active Directory servers. I've created sub-interfaces on my ASA. So, my clients are on Gi0/1.139 and my two Active Directory servers are on Gi0/1.132. I've enabled traffic on TCP 53-5000 port range according to Microsoft. My clients still can't join the domain. What ports I need to open up? My AD servers are Windows 2003.
I have a WPA2/AES network with PEAP MsChapv2 authentication. I have 2 ACS servers for authentication. The problem I have is dropped clients. Both ACS servers are setup identical. The database replcation has been preformed.A series of 10 clients connects wirelessly and they are all successful. ACS server 1 is the primary and ACS server 2 is the backup. We verified that the 10 users authenticated to the primary ACS. My time out to reauth is 30 minutes on the WiSM. 10 minutes into the test we took down the Primary server. This should have had no impact on the clients. 5 minutes later the clients lost thier authentication and were dropped from the network. They were able to reconnect by shutting down thier wireless client and reconnecting. The authentications were seen on the Backup ACS server.on a test of falling back to the primary the same thing happened again to the clients.
Any relevant doc for ACS4.2 on 1113 platform to be integrated with Unix Directory service having LDAP10.2.0.0 version from Oracle or guidance available.
We have a working configuration for L2TP-IPSec connection from a native Windows XP client to the ASA 5510. When trying to set up a connection from a Windows 7 client, the connection fails with the message that all SA proposals are unacceptable? Is this coexistence possible, and what parameters would I have to change to get this working. I have understood that the Windows 7 client requires som higher security proposals, but have not found what these are. And at the sam time we are concerned about not destroying the VPN connection for our existing XP clients.
I've just discovered this thing in Windows Event log. The DHCP-Client log is full with this: the client received a NAK from the DHCP Server. Strangely, they still get the desired IP address. (Which are reserved adresses for the MAC adresses.)So I've looked at the logs in the DIR-615 (rev.D, FW: 4.13), and found this:
I have a trouble with PPTP VPN between Windows clients and Cisco 2921 router with RADIUS (IAS) authorization. When I try to connect to Cisco 2921 from Windows 7 using MS-CHAP v2 I receive error 778: it was not possible to verify the identity of server . Then I use PAP - everythig is OK. On Windows XP the same situation.

install Windows Installer 3.1 to complete installation. Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 requires that Windows Installer 3.1 be installed to the installation.
I need to connect a OS2 pc with Windows Server 2008. However, I have tried the Netbeau (which can work in connect with Windows Server 2000), I cannot install the Netbeau to Windows Server 2008.
I am trying to make an application sharing software which shares multiple applications in windows to various clients. My idea is to modify VNC code and use it to share applications on different ports to different clients.
Im running 10 units of computers, anyhow my server has no internet connection, the other 9 units has net connection, when i ping the diagnosis is destination host unreachable.I'm using windows XP.
I am runing Windows 7 Ultimate on my Media Station i cannot access Google or my E-Mail it says internet not connected which clearly it is,i am absolutly a no brainer when
