Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT160NL DLNA Media Server Unstable

Oct 1, 2010

I have an NTFS formatted USB disk drive (Western Digital My Passport Essential Black 320 GB WDBAAA3200ABK) attached to the WRT160NL wireless router (Firmware Version 1.0.02), and I have video, picture and music files on the USB disk drive in three folders: Videos, Music, Pictures. Auto-scan is disabled, I scan the media files manually by clicking on the 'Scan All' button.

PROBLEM 1 The worst problem is that the router is very sensitive to files that can't be recognized by the router as media files. For example if there are subtitle files (*.str) between the media files, then strange and nondeterministic things happen: some valid media files are skipped and not included in the media database; some files included but the file names are mixed. The most irritating in the bug is that there is no log file, where you could find the problem, and so you never know which file cause the problem, and you have to browse through all the files hunting for the cause.

PROBLEM 2 When the router is in the process of scanning the media files, then the internet (WAN) connection often can't be used, although the router can be accessed and the status says it is connected to the internet.

Linksys Wireless Router :: EA4500 DLNA Certified Media Server

Aug 1, 2012

I'm very disappointed with this EA4500 DLNA feature this is one of the main reasons why i got this router. My Sammy TV can detect the USB that is attached and is able to view the files in the drive but when you play any video file larger than 1gb it does not work even shuts down my TV.Only on smaller files does it work flawlessly I know its not the TV because I have played those files on my previous Router (Netgear WNDR3800)  and they even work when i connect the hard drive directly to the TV has any one else had this issue happen to them?

Linksys Wireless Router :: E2000 - Video Stutter With H.264 Over Network Playback In Windows Media Center 7

Aug 4, 2011

I recently replaced my Linksys WRV54G with a Linksys e2000 where I stream H.264 vido in 480p from one computer connected over gigabit to my  Media Center running on Windows 7 64 bit connected at 10/100.

Before the router change, I was able to playback video over the network with no problems. If I connect the Linksys WRV54G again, the issue goes away. The Linksys WRV54G does not have gigabit and I have read related issues of video stuttering over gigabit.

UPnP Without Windows Media Player Video Stream

Oct 3, 2011

I posted this on a previous thread along with another question, but since I marked that as answered I'll post it here so people will see it.Is there any way I can use UPnP WITHOUT having to have the videos I want to stream in my WMP library? Windows Media Player has always been a pain for me, from my videos not showing up in the library when I know they're there to not being able to switch audio streams in a video. (If VLC Media Player or iTunes had a UPnP library.

LG HR536D - Connecting Blu-ray Player To Laptop For DLNA

Feb 5, 2012

I've bought a LG HR536D Blu-ray player w/ HDD, and it has DLNA compability, but is well out of range for a wired connection to my wireless router. So, I thought since that all the things that I'd like to watch are on my laptop (Win 7 64-bit) which is in the same room, within reach for an ethernet connection. I have plugged in the ethernet cable, but predictably, they won't talk to each other. And I have no idea how to make them do so. I messed around with matching the IP Addresses, and Bridging the connection with my Wireless connection, but to no avail.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E3000 Media Server Not Seen By Windows Media Player?

Apr 18, 2012

I've enabled the Media Server on my E3000 router.  My PS3 can see the server and play media from it by my PCs can't!

I'm using Windows Media Player v 12.0 on Windows 7 and some older version on Windows XP and it's my understanding that the Media Server should appear under the "Other Libraries" section but it does not.

Am I doing something wrong? Is there a bug in the E3000 firmware (I have the latest as of this date) or is the Media Server simply not compatible with Windows Media Player? compatible media player for Windows 7?

I did read a post about a firmware upgrade on the 4200 that broke the media player, but I don't know if such a problem exists for the E3000.

Why Can't Link Video Via Laptop To HDTV Usb

Apr 16, 2011

I can burn a video file to USB stick and then insert that stick in my new HDTV's usb port, and the television recognises and plays the file. So it seems reasonable that a wireless (perfect) or wired (ok too) connection could be made to stream the content. No?I keep looking at the USB wifi sticks that allow filesharing between laptops and wonder why I couldn't just use a pair of them to link the two devices. But I can find no information out there at all on this.My problem is that movies burned to dvd or usbstick fail to play about half the time via the television usb port or via the blu ray player. "Error, no video file detected". And subtitles are very very dicey. Samsung's firmware (latest updates installed) just doesn't seem to handle files nearly as well as most software based players. VLC player on the laptop (and most players for that matter) play movies without trouble. Included subtitle files always sync up just fine via VLC without any prompting. So I'm looking for a link for watching movies via vlcplayer on my laptop and streaming them to my HDTV or Blu Ray player.

PN50C550 samsung HDTV.
HP 8510w Laptop.
Linux Mint 10 (have already posted in the linux section).
BD-C6500 Samsung blu ray player.

Have HDMI on the laptop and on the TV. Unfortunately, my Nvidia card will not do audio in Linux. A known issue. I've posted in the linux section to no avail.I also am having difficulties running samsung's shareware utilities in linux.Laptop has ethernet, 1394a (firewire), vga, usb, and hdmi ports.HDTV has ethernet, vga (hd-15), usb, hdmi, but no 1394a.Blu Ray player has ethernet (now occupied to router) and usb port on front panel and HDMI (now occupied to HDTV)

HP Laptop DV2815EA - Wireless Adapter Cuts Out During Streaming Video

Sep 6, 2012

My computer is a HP Laptop Model Number DV2815EA running windows vista 32 bit. Its a few years old. Recently i have had problems with my wireless adapter turning itself off whenever i watch videos online. It doesn't happen all the time, but if i am watching something for more than an hour it will cut off. There is a blue light and a switch on the front of the laptop, and when the wireless adapter is off, the light changes to red.

The light will change to red sometimes whilst watching video, and the only way i can turn the wireless back on is if i restart the system. Even if i activate and disable the wireless adapter using the external manual switch, or the internal controls using the wireless assistant. Also, not sure if this is relevant but i can no longer either watch videos on full screen as the image gets jolty.

Things i have tried:

1) restoring the system to a previous restore point - i tried this but for some reason the only restore points i could find were ones dated after i started noticing the problem.

2) reinstalling the wireless adapter driver and video card driver.

3) running a full 6 hour antivirus scan - I am using Eset NOD32 antivirus and also i scanned using comodo cleaning essentials.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Complication With DLNA In WRT160NL

Nov 1, 2010

I have a issue with using a Media Server in my WRT160NL. I have tried several firmwares, but issue exists in all firmwares.I tried to play files on my Samsung LCD TV with embedded media player (this player can play files from USB storage or from DLNA servers). I have several video files in mkv and avi format. My TV has wireless connection to router (270Mbit). And I have the following situation:1. I write these files on USB drive, plug to TV, play in embedded player - all OK.2. I have a samsung DLNA server on PC and try to play the same files from PC via network - all OK. (My network - PC to WRT160NL via cable, TV and some other devices via WiFi, but in this time only TV via WiFi.)3. I plug the same USB drive with same files to WRT160NL, go to settings and enable Media Server, choose two folders for scan (one for MKV, one for AVI), scan it. I run player on TV, choose WRT160NL. TV can see all video files, but:- when I try to play mkv file - I have error after several seconds "the unsupported file format"- when I try to play avi file - it plays, but after 20-40 seconds I have error "WRT160NL is disconnected".What is wrong with DLNA server in WRT160NL? Because from other server via router all OK. USB drive in NTFS format, maybe I need to use a ext3 or other file system for DLNA?

Linksys Wireless Router :: EA6500 Won't Accept Connection?

Feb 11, 2013

When I plug in the power cord to my EA6500 all the LED's on the back, and the white Cisco on the front come on solid, then the lights on the back go out and the white Cisco light starts blinking faster than every second. I can't get it to stop blinking no matter what I've tried so far.

It won't let me connect to it at all.  I've tried everything I can think of, and have tried almost everything I could find in Troubleshooting in Cisco Community.  The Linksys Smart Wi Fi  Router setup says "We could not find your router."

I've also tried using the red Reset button and the light never stops flashing.  I've tried pushing the button quickly, holding it down for ten seconds, and holding it down for more than 30 seconds, but the light continues to blink.  I've also unplugged it and waited more than 10 seconds, but nothing seems to work.
