Sharing :: Cannot Move Folder Created By Another User On Network Drive
May 14, 2011I have a Windows 2003 SP2 server with a shared folder. This folder is accessed by 2 people on a regular basis. The problem we are experiencing is when a folder is created by user A, it cannot be moved by user B (and vice versa), as it says the folder is in use.The exact error is: Error Moving File or Folder.Cannot move <filename>: Access is denied.Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.I have explicitly set full control for both users on the folder. The drive has 70GB of 500GB remaining. I have also used File Server Management to verify the files were not in use when they were being moved.The server is Windows 2003, SP2. Domain environment, with all relevant users having permissions on the folder, and the everyone account removed. Any other operation inside the shared folder works fine.

Jun 20, 2012I am unable to connect to my desktop's shared folders, and get the message "network path not found" when attempting to go into the desktop. The desktop is connected to the router wirelessly, a pace 2wire gateway, and wirelessly on the laptop. I can see it in the list of devices connected to the gateway, as well as the network folder. I am unable to ping my desktop from the laptop, but i can do so the other way around (desktop can ping my laptop). This is despite turning off windows firewall on the desktop. This started happening right when i got the SP2 upgrade for the desktop, it's a vista system.

Dec 3, 2012Suddenly Can't access shared folders but others can . Laptop with Vista. Had many Mapped [COLOR=blue !important][COLOR=blue ! important]Network [COLOR=blue ! important]Drive[/COLOR][/COLOR][/COLOR] issues about 2 months ago. Finally all resolved. Laptop was gone from our shop for about 2 weeks. Now it cannot see the Shared Folders (except for Public and Printers), and could not re-connect the Mapped Drives. Accesses Internet, can Ping the other PCs(all running Win7). Connect thru Wireless.
Why SUDDENLY, there are no shared folders visible on a Laptop?
Notes: This is the 2nd time this has happened. I changed alot of settings the first time. I re-checked all the settings this time.
Update: Magically works today 12-3-12. But what caused it? Why does Vista loose the ability to map network drives, when nothing
changes...I still want to know why for the next time this happens.
Sharing :: Limited Users On SME Network Loose Shared Printer
May 18, 2012I thought that there are more security issues than LAN issues, I have a network with 11 computers of which 1 is SME server and 10 are clients (mainly 256MB DDR1 tech machines withceleron D processors, onboard VGA and sound; there are few 1024MB DDR2, AMD Sempron LE processors). All clients have XPSP3, .NET framework 1.1+2.0, Office 2003, AvastFree 7.0, Mozilla Firefox 7.0 and several utilities not very important. Every client has 2 users (Admin and User) on Local Machine and 1 on DOMAIN (UserDomain). Both User accounts are limited. First, all computers were in same workgroup and not part of DOMAIN. In that time, printers on clients were shared among themselves and worked flawlessly. After joining the clients to the DOMAIN, the work continued without issues. One day, I have changed the name of the SME SERVER computer and the issues have started. Several clients can not connect to those shared printers, even others are using them well. When I want to add shared printer I can not browse the particular computer on which the shared printer is (through ADD PRINTER wizard). I manage to do it writing the full path of the particular computer and there I can choose the printer.
After selecting it, username and password is required to finish the adding. Of course I use the Admin username ad password, and after typing it error message pop up (printer is unavailable or can not connect to it). After this I close all windows, start the adding procedure again, and then I can add the printer normally. The problem continues, because, on those computers on which I have had this complicated way of install, after several days shared printers refuse to print saying Access denied. Then I have to delete the printer again, install it twice and hope to work after that for a weak at least.
The problem is getting bigger, as on one client computer I can not print from browsers (Firefox 7, IE 8) but from Office there is no problem. Of course I have checked other topics about this and use setups-modifications-advices but they did not solve printing problems. I have even reinstalled that computer, but the problem remains.

Dec 4, 2011#1 windows 7 computer has a wired connection and #2 windows 7 computer has a wireless connection. When at #2 and trying to save a file to #1, the save time may be about a minute. When doing the same thing from a computer #3 with windows xp, the save time is a few seconds. Tried safe mode with networking. Same thing. Tried disabling remote differential compression. No change. The three computers are in the same workgroup.

Oct 25, 2012Our previous wireless router (Netgear Rangemax wpn802) died yesterday so I went out and bought a Western Digital My Net N900. The issue is that now anyone using the wireless signal can't connect to a shared network folder that they were previously able to connect to using the old router.
I'm not able to log into the old router to see any of its settings. I do have access to the server that has the shared folder - I just don't have any idea what needs to be set in order for the N900 to allow me through to the shared folder - whether it's on the router side or the server side.

Aug 19, 2012I have a small network running in my language academy which is causing me some issues. We have a server running Win XP with two folders, one for the teachers which is password protected and the other for the students which doesn't require a password. Up until two days it has been working well. However now the server keeps disconnecting from the internet quite randomly which stops us from connecting to the shared folders.
I've noticed that a caution icon appears next to the ethernet icon in the task bar when this problems occurs on the server. I have tried to right click and choose the repair option but it tell me that it cannot resolve the ip address. In some cases rebooting the server resolves the issues but in many case it doesn't.

Mar 11, 2013I have a user that is trying to save an excel speadsheet that is located in a shared folder on a server, the user can open the file and edit ok but when they try to save the file the progress bar pops up but just hangs then a message pops up to saying "file not saved". They are using Windows 7.The user is new and I have just set up their account so thought it might be permission issues but I have logged the user in on two other different machines (1 win7 and 1 WinXP) and they have no problem at all.

Aug 7, 2012I have had clearwire for a few years, about 2 months ago the internet started being weird. It would go slow, only load part of a page or disconnect completely. Now I cant get on at all. Not with my HP laptop, not with my daughters iPad, my husbands HP, ipod and not even if I hook up directly to the router. I have gone through 3 modems and 2 routers trying to fix this, but nothing has changed. When I run a trouble shooter, under "Problems Found", it says, "Windows cannot communicate with the device or resource. A Web server,a game server, a ventrilo server, a few ip cameras with web interface, an IR to IP bridge (web interface),a VPN, a few routers throughout the house, etc. I've been wondering how to get access to those devices from the web, in particular to be able to access the web interface of those devices. VPN access is excluded,I want to do it from a browser.Right now my setup is pretty simple: I have a domain name,and my router is set to forward a :80 request to my web server.Same for the VPN and game serves,at their respective ports.However, I need to be able to access the other web interface,and since I cannot assign an external port to each device in the router table and add the port number at the end of my domain name (not possible of course), I need to find a way to access these other web interfaces.I was thinking of setting a webpage on the web server which lists all resources and their links,but I am not sure if it is possible.For example,I create an admin page on my server asking for a login.Once logged in,a webpage appears displaying IPCam1 for example.Clicking on this link would forward to the local ressource,in this case 192.168.x.x:99 (the address of the cam web server)however,I do not know HTML and I am not even sure it is possible.

May 30, 2013I have two production contexts on an ACE 4710 running A5(2.2). Both are members of a resource class that has "limit-resource all minimum 40.00 maximum equal-to-min". I am seeing many denied packets for Bandwidth throughput under the "show resource use" for one of the contexts. All other resource peaks under "show resource use" are well within range. So I'd like to create a new Resource Class for this context with bandwidth throughput packets being denied, and would solely like to allocate more resources for bandwidth throughput ONLY, while keeping the other resources at 40.00. However, "limit-resource ?" doesn't list any resources that look like bandwidth throughput. If I configure "limit-resource all minimum 50.00 max equal-to-min" then I do see it allocates more bandwidth for throughput via the "show resource usage" underneatht the Alocation - Max column. Is this the only method to effect the resource allocation for bandwidth throughput for a context?

I can sucessfully connect and establish a VPN, but when I try to access an inside resource from the vpn address, the asa blocks it.

Dec 21, 2012I installed a CISCO ASA5505 with 50 user license to my network as the gateway firewall. So ASA is acting as the gaeway router which is connected to a fibre circuit and also it gives DHCP to the network. The strange thing is that except for two computers rest does not have internet. I also have an asterisk phone system which works fine..
I tried everything.... static IP's DHCP, DNS nothing worked. But strange enough two computers works fine and have internet.. but are no special computers. One is Win XP and the other one is Win7. When I troubleshoot the problem in win 7 on one of the computers it says
