WRT54GS V6 - Hook Up An Old Router To A Hub To Act As A Relay?
Oct 26, 2011
I have an old WRT54GS v6 that's sitting around collecting dust. I wondered if it's possible to plug it into the wired hub ( I have in my basement where the wireless is somewhat weak) to get the signal a bit stronger down here?I guess the operative terminology is 'wireless access point' I've found some instructions but they all say to connect the access point directly to the gateway via cat-5.. hoping I can do so with a hub. If not.. could I just switch the hub and the access point in the setup?
My problem is I bought a 3.75G Modem (E353 USB Modem) from Optus the other day, and I have an old D-Link (DI-624) router I trying to hook it up to. And the thing is I am not sure to how? have the USB device plugged into a USB port and it works so far, I have an Ethernet cable going out of my 1 of 2 LAN ports my motherboard has in to the first LAN port on the router not the WAN port, as stated by other forums. This is as far as I've gone with this. I am going to buy a new router in the future , but I'd like to figure how to make it work first. Also are there any products I can buy to make it easer
I am trying to hook my bluray player up wirelessy I have a 2 wire modem I also bought a wireless router and a wlan to hook to the back of the bluray is this right
I buy my wifi from the rv park that I live in how do I hook up an antenna to get a stronger signal to my router. I would have wifi coming in then my network going out .
[code] I have tried to configure this setup and have had no luck, and in the proccess have learned enough about networking to be really dangerous to my equipment. Is the problem DHCP? or incorporating MAC routing with IP routing? I'm pretty sure I've managed to program one of my keyboard buttons into a World Delete Function,.
I can not connect from a remote location it connects from my home computer wirelessly but not from a remote location?(A) By default, the HTTP port on the camera is port 80. You will need to open TCP port 80 on your router to the IP address of the camera?
typical ADSL configuration. My ISP only sends out DNS information automatically (PPP) - no static entries. I need to capture this information and relay it to users via DHCP. Currently when I do "ipconfig/ all" all DNS entries are empty.
My mom wants to buy my dad a Kindle Fire for Christmas. Currently they have a desktop computer with a modem plugged into it and use Verizon dsl for their internet. The Kindle needs wi-fi and I don't want to disrupt the way their computer is set up now.Do I simply plug the router into the modem to get the wi-fi signal?
I formatted my new 3TB External hard drive on my computer and it shows close to 3TB space. Now when I hook it up to EA6500 router, it shows on 746.51 GB total. I have latest firmware installed.
I have a PC modem and recently purchase a netgear N600 wireless router. Do they make a splitter of some sort. So I can use both the PC and IPad? If they make a splitter?
I'm not that great at networking, I'm pretty much a novice but I'm trying to connect a modem and router to my computer but get around bridging the modem if possible. You see, I am working with AT&T and their dsl modem access page only works for me if the modem is unbridged. If I bridge the modem, I cannot get on the page again to unbridge it while I am trying to hook up my router. When I need them to unbridge the modem, I have to stay on hold for hours. One guy even told me that he did unbridge the modem, but since my internet persisted not to work, he told me my ethernet card went bad of a sudden on my computer. I knew this was incorrect so after a few more hours on hold, I had a lady debate with me that she was not unbridging my modem since it was my ethernet card that was bad and not the bridging. Finally, laughing to herself, she unbridged the modem for me and it worked
Here is what I have: My modem is a Motorola 2210 Style: MSTATEA My router is a Linksys WRT120N
As of right now, I just have a LAN with my modem plugged in through an ethernet cord to my PC. Is there a way of me hooking up my Linksys router to my modem and PC without bridging the modem? If so, where can I find out instructions for this?
After popping in the installation CD, the screen says hook everything up, which I do. Then click next, where it says "Searching Networks", then quickly changes to "Connecting to Network", and then it says it "Cannot Find Router.". Err. Check setup, etc.If I hook up directly to new router VIA internet cable. Also, this is strange: When I just open up a web browser and try to log into the router 192.168.1.1, using no user name, administration as the password, it won't let me in to the router. Even after I have reset the router with a pen.
I recently bought EA3500 router. I am not able to hook up 2 storage external HDD and 1 USB printer usnig the router.I am connecting all 3 to a USB hub which i am connecting to the router.
I use a wired network connection to my neighbours Vodafone Modem (We share his monthly cost). I also have a TP-LINK 54M Wireless ADSL2+ Router from a previous broadband contract with a landline phone company. Is it possible to reset and configure the TP-LINK Router to act as a relay unit, connected to the network cable, so I can then use my laptop elsewhere in the house?
Transitioning from 3825 to 3945 (OS is 15.0(1r)M13 c3900-universalk9-mz.SPA.151-4.m4). Turning on FDL on the 3825 was easy but the same command on the 3945 doesn't work.
I have a NM-1CE1U working on my router 2600 , configured with frame-relay . But seems it does not work on my router 2811. I have check that the replacement is HWIC-1CE1T1-PRI , right ?
But the problem is these two modules have different interface type , I want to keep my cable interface type and find one module card working on 2800 or 2900 router , can configure frame-relay.
Application is that need to configure the VOIP with the existing Frame relay network ,where VOFR command is not shown in the router when type yhe command router config#dial-peer voice 123 need vofr On the 3945 router where in the router it is not accepting the above command,
I have had my router (linksys WRT54GS) for a few years now. I lost the disk for the inital set up and had the company send me the set up wizzard i get all the way to the last step and it tells me that the router either can connect to the router... now i was told i had to upgrade the firmware.
I have a WRT54GS which works fine with Linux both from both wired and wireless computers using Linux. But I reinstalled Win XP and now I can't reestablish a connection following the EasyLink advisor. I did have a connection under Win XP before.
The last instruction on the Easylink advisor tells me to look for something marked "local" I don't find that word on the screen.
There is a way to block access to a website by password protecting it through my linksys router, which is one of thoe wrt54gs. I know I can completely block access of a website and can restrict the viewing hours of facebook at certain times through the router admin IP site but was wondering if it was possible to make it so you have to use a password to view said certain site. If there isn't is there any way maybe through a program or do I have to go through my ISP to see if they can do what I am asking for.
I lost my Cd for the router. I have the Linksys WRT54GS V7.2. It works if I hook my computer & x-box up to it. But the problem I'm having is not being able to make it a secure network to keep my neighbors from pinging off of my internet. I know when they come home everday without looking out my window. My connection goes from great to I'm not sure my page is ever going to load. This just started when they got two or more laptops.
The Windows netowrk Diagnostics tells me the problem is; "Local area connection doesn't have a valid IP Configuration"
However if i connect my modem directly to my PC it works just fine, the problem comes when i try and use my router(WRT54GS) that everything seems to stop working. My internet was working just fine with morning with my router. Now it doesn't want to work and nothing else in my house can connect to the internet.
I am currently using a Linksys WRT54GS router. In my house we have about 15 connections to it with all but 2 of them wireless. Not all of the devices can get on at the same time so I called Linksys and they said our router only supports up to 11 or 12 connections. My question is how do I determine the amount of connections a router can handle at once so that I do not have this problem any more.
Have a client wanting to hand out public ip addresses to all clients from a PFSense Firewall terminating the internet connection.
How do I allow the Cisco Switches currently in place, configured with private ip addresses in the 10.10.x.x ranges and Vlans, where the main 3550 layer 3 has defined dhcp scopes for each vlan, to relay dhcp requests from all vlans to the PFSense firewall?
I assume I would take off the currently defined dhcp scopes for the vlans and configure each vlan/switch with the ip helper address and specify the PFSense firewall and that Nat would have to be disabled onthe firewall?
