Hook-up An Antenna To Get A Stronger Signal To Router?
Sep 18, 2012
I buy my wifi from the rv park that I live in how do I hook up an antenna to get a stronger signal to my router. I would have wifi coming in then my network going out .
I just upgraded from a WRTG 54 version 2 wireless router to the Linsksys E2500. The reason for the change is to send a stronger wireless signal strength further in my house. Setup was easy to my laptop and XBox 360 but my Samsung Internet TV is another story. I can get my tv to get the wireless signal but when I click on an app nothing but error messages. Often times it will say to check my dns settings but I am not that tech savvy and don't know what to do.
I have internet on my laptop and I live in a trailor I need to make my signal stronger so my daughter can pick up my internet she also lives in a trailor next door she can get it outside of her trilor but when she goes in she loses it?
My parents ditched their Comcast cable last year. Their house association has provided 'Wifi' for everyone in the neighborhood as part of the association fee. However, signal is very weak, even though they are one of the closest to the Wifi Antennas. They have a laptop, two desktops, and one Ipad. Their laptop seems fine. Both of the desktop, however, are very slow. It's slower than 56k. It's almost unbearable. They still have all their modems/router from Comcast. I am wondering a way to get the Wifi signal, and use the Comcast Router to create a Wifi in their house again so they can print wireless and use netflix and things like that. I don't know the exact definition for it. I'm just wondering if it can be done.
Any diagram showing the antenna position or signal pattern from the EA2700? I know that Cisco recommends that the unit be placed "near the ceiling" but I'm looking for more specific information. Should the unit be mounted vertically or horizontally.
I have a wifi signal set up in my home but my studio 200m away gets no signal. I bought a repeater on ebay but it's still too far to pick up the signal. I can't place the repeater between the two structures due to lack of an electrical outlet. If I get an antenna for the repeater (Linksys WRT54GS with W-DRT installed) do I simply attach it where the existing antennas are on the Linksys repeater or is it more complicated than that? It seems to me those antenna ports are for sending a signal not receiving a signal.
I have tested each antenna separately. With each antenna attached one at a time the left and right antenna is giving me -20 signal. The center is only giving me -65 signal. Is this a problem with the router or normal? I noticed that the center pin is pushed in more then the left and right. Don't know if that is the cause.
I have 1 house that is about 1/4 or 1/2 a mile away from the other house.I would like to setup an antenna that sends a wifi signal from one house to the house that does not have internet.I have a picture link that i drew up at the top. I'm not the best at drawing stuff so bare with me.Im going to type a path of the internet out to show you what I would like to get setup.[CODE]
I currently have a Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 running tomato firmware. I get roughly 4 or 5 bars around the entire house. Soon I will have to relocate the router to the basement.
Should I get a stronger 802.11N router or should I setup another buffalo router and use it as a repeater?
I have a Cisco Aironet 1242G and an outdoor omni 12 dbi antenna. I hooked it all up to day (antenna is connected with a 100ft cable). My signal is very disappointing. I have it behind a garage and can only get about maybe 75 foot away and the signal gets very weak.
Is there something that needs to be configured in the aironet? I have enabled external antenna and played with the settings. Is the 12 dbi antenna just too much?
My problem is I bought a 3.75G Modem (E353 USB Modem) from Optus the other day, and I have an old D-Link (DI-624) router I trying to hook it up to. And the thing is I am not sure to how? have the USB device plugged into a USB port and it works so far, I have an Ethernet cable going out of my 1 of 2 LAN ports my motherboard has in to the first LAN port on the router not the WAN port, as stated by other forums. This is as far as I've gone with this. I am going to buy a new router in the future , but I'd like to figure how to make it work first. Also are there any products I can buy to make it easer
I have an old WRT54GS v6 that's sitting around collecting dust. I wondered if it's possible to plug it into the wired hub ( I have in my basement where the wireless is somewhat weak) to get the signal a bit stronger down here?I guess the operative terminology is 'wireless access point' I've found some instructions but they all say to connect the access point directly to the gateway via cat-5.. hoping I can do so with a hub. If not.. could I just switch the hub and the access point in the setup?
I am trying to hook my bluray player up wirelessy I have a 2 wire modem I also bought a wireless router and a wlan to hook to the back of the bluray is this right
[code] I have tried to configure this setup and have had no luck, and in the proccess have learned enough about networking to be really dangerous to my equipment. Is the problem DHCP? or incorporating MAC routing with IP routing? I'm pretty sure I've managed to program one of my keyboard buttons into a World Delete Function,.
I can not connect from a remote location it connects from my home computer wirelessly but not from a remote location?(A) By default, the HTTP port on the camera is port 80. You will need to open TCP port 80 on your router to the IP address of the camera?
My mom wants to buy my dad a Kindle Fire for Christmas. Currently they have a desktop computer with a modem plugged into it and use Verizon dsl for their internet. The Kindle needs wi-fi and I don't want to disrupt the way their computer is set up now.Do I simply plug the router into the modem to get the wi-fi signal?
I formatted my new 3TB External hard drive on my computer and it shows close to 3TB space. Now when I hook it up to EA6500 router, it shows on 746.51 GB total. I have latest firmware installed.
I have a PC modem and recently purchase a netgear N600 wireless router. Do they make a splitter of some sort. So I can use both the PC and IPad? If they make a splitter?
I'm not that great at networking, I'm pretty much a novice but I'm trying to connect a modem and router to my computer but get around bridging the modem if possible. You see, I am working with AT&T and their dsl modem access page only works for me if the modem is unbridged. If I bridge the modem, I cannot get on the page again to unbridge it while I am trying to hook up my router. When I need them to unbridge the modem, I have to stay on hold for hours. One guy even told me that he did unbridge the modem, but since my internet persisted not to work, he told me my ethernet card went bad of a sudden on my computer. I knew this was incorrect so after a few more hours on hold, I had a lady debate with me that she was not unbridging my modem since it was my ethernet card that was bad and not the bridging. Finally, laughing to herself, she unbridged the modem for me and it worked
Here is what I have: My modem is a Motorola 2210 Style: MSTATEA My router is a Linksys WRT120N
As of right now, I just have a LAN with my modem plugged in through an ethernet cord to my PC. Is there a way of me hooking up my Linksys router to my modem and PC without bridging the modem? If so, where can I find out instructions for this?
After popping in the installation CD, the screen says hook everything up, which I do. Then click next, where it says "Searching Networks", then quickly changes to "Connecting to Network", and then it says it "Cannot Find Router.". Err. Check setup, etc.If I hook up directly to new router VIA internet cable. Also, this is strange: When I just open up a web browser and try to log into the router 192.168.1.1, using no user name, administration as the password, it won't let me in to the router. Even after I have reset the router with a pen.
I recently bought EA3500 router. I am not able to hook up 2 storage external HDD and 1 USB printer usnig the router.I am connecting all 3 to a USB hub which i am connecting to the router.
My housemates have been having a trouble with network coverage in my house, the router is located in the basement of my house, perfect for me as my room is also down there (Ethernet). Unfortunately my housemate in the attic room's signal seems to be a problem. I'm wondering if it would be possible to remove one of my routers two antennas solder some copper wire to the spot it was removed, then have the wire go up to the 1st floor and re-solder the antenna up there (mount it on the wall or something). I'm confident with the practicalities of actually doing this, but I'm not that techie when it comes to electronics. I'm not sure whether it would need more power to boost it over such a distance.
If the antenna for this router is removable? The model I have doesn't seem like it is and I am afraid that I might break it if I try. I would like to connect an external antenna I have.
