I have internet on my laptop and I live in a trailor I need to make my signal stronger so my daughter can pick up my internet she also lives in a trailor next door she can get it outside of her trilor but when she goes in she loses it?
My parents ditched their Comcast cable last year. Their house association has provided 'Wifi' for everyone in the neighborhood as part of the association fee. However, signal is very weak, even though they are one of the closest to the Wifi Antennas. They have a laptop, two desktops, and one Ipad. Their laptop seems fine. Both of the desktop, however, are very slow. It's slower than 56k. It's almost unbearable. They still have all their modems/router from Comcast. I am wondering a way to get the Wifi signal, and use the Comcast Router to create a Wifi in their house again so they can print wireless and use netflix and things like that. I don't know the exact definition for it. I'm just wondering if it can be done.
I buy my wifi from the rv park that I live in how do I hook up an antenna to get a stronger signal to my router. I would have wifi coming in then my network going out .
I just upgraded from a WRTG 54 version 2 wireless router to the Linsksys E2500. The reason for the change is to send a stronger wireless signal strength further in my house. Setup was easy to my laptop and XBox 360 but my Samsung Internet TV is another story. I can get my tv to get the wireless signal but when I click on an app nothing but error messages. Often times it will say to check my dns settings but I am not that tech savvy and don't know what to do.
I currently have a Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 running tomato firmware. I get roughly 4 or 5 bars around the entire house. Soon I will have to relocate the router to the basement.
Should I get a stronger 802.11N router or should I setup another buffalo router and use it as a repeater?
Well I just recently got my computer back from Gateway.I sent it off to them because I was having overheating issues.Well they fixed that by replacing the cpu and fans. But now that I have it back I'm not getting a very good signal from my wireless router. I'm one room away from the router and it use to be full bars...Now I'm at a steady 2 bars, signal strength poor. I used to be able to pick up probably 20 networks that were close to me. Now I don't pick up any of those, just my own. I'm wondering what the heck happened! I've tried restoring my system but it didn't do anything. Also, if I go to Control panel and click on diagnose wireless adapter it will say it fixes it, and then a bunch of networks pop up, all good strength, even mine will have full bars for about 30 seconds, then boom, all the other networks disappear and mine goes clear down to 2 bars.
Have 50ft CAT5 wire. Tested wire 2 different laptop and they both will connect to internet but desktop will not connect at that length. Tested 2nd desktop on wire but will not connect. Tested both desktops in office on 10ft CAT5 and they work.
How to get a wifi internet signal from a source 100yds (300ft) away. In one house there is a wildblue surfbeam dish and modem mod. sm2100-30 with a netgear wireless router 54mbps mod. wgr614v7 (802.11g)?? Its pretty much a straight shot with maybe some tree branches and leaves partially in the way in the summer. my computer is a 2007 dell xps demension 410/9200, not sure what if any wifi card it has if any, there is also a building about halfway between the dish hookup and my computer if i needed a place to jump the signal from. what do i need to get a internet signal from the dish soursr to my other building (computer)?? I own both places and the property,, Also this internet dish system is rather slow,,almost like dialup, how to make it faster?
I work on an HP desktop that used to be able to connect to the wireless network. We moved offices and and I am unable to connect to the new wireless network. The network used to appear but had no signal strength. Now the network does not even appear.
What is the easiest way to boost the the signal from a wireless router(1 year old), weak signal going into a different room. Yes has to go around a wall into another room.
I have a wireless router that rests across the house next to the modem. The signal is too weak to reach to the other side of the house. Is there a way to boost the signal so I can get wifi from across the house or any other way to get an internet connection without several fifty foot wires going across the house?
I previously had a Linksys WRT54G, before I upgraded to my new router I was getting quite good signals and my internet speed on my pc was ranging from 3.7 - 4.5 Mbpsfter upgrading to a Cisco Linksys E4200 based on the great Cnet ratings, my internet speed has plumetted to a range of 2.5 - 3.1 Mbps and the Signal Strength on my wireless connection has gone to "Very Low"I have checked the channels of the surrounding routers (using a software called network stumbler). I am using channel 1 which is not being used by anyone else.I am just surprised, I thought my speed and connection strength would sky rocket after getting such a good router.
I got a Wireless Dongle to make my Windows ME PC wireless. On eBay, it said it worked on Windows ME.I installed it but cannot get a wireless signal. It does not even have a management program. So I reinstalled it and still got the same result.
I want to connect myself on my friend router by wifi but i cannot see the network what should i do ,what usb receiver anntena is the best or what i nedd to buy and is working 100 % maybe is 400 meter is the distance but sure is not 1 mile
I am trying to use a pre-existing DSL modem-router config in a club house my group uses for monthly meetings. Its a separate modem and router (Linksys or Netgear), forget modem brand. I'm unable to communicate with the owners of the equipment. If I connect to the router directly with a cat5 patch cord I can get on the internet just fine, but do not see a wireless signal from the router. I am also unable to connect with 192.168.1.1 from my laptop. I get the same message as if I'd entered a random nonsense url. I know you can go into your router and disable wireless but first you have to talk to it via 192.168.1.1 .
So I got clever and piggybacked another known good router into one of the Ethernet ports on the 1st router, and again got on the internet with a direct cat5 connection. But this time, I DO SEE the wireless signal from my 2nd router and can connect to it from the laptop, but still no internet! it's like internet access is blocked in the 1st router.
I have a Gateway Laptop that knocks out my att dsl connection randomly. It happens when it is connected by wire or wireless. I have other devices that use the the internet connection without any problem including an ipad, cell phones, and wireless tv's. They all connect and the signal never gets interupted, but when I use my gateway laptop with in a few minutes the I start losing signal randomly. It does lock back on but usually continues to in and out.
i get a bunch of lag when i play counterstrike, etc. In game, my ping is always tripling other players'. I know it isnt my computer because it is basically amazing. Im pretty sure it is my wifi because i'm in the top floor of my house and my router is in the basement. I'm using a usb wireless card. What can i do to get a better signal.
Everytime im on the internet or playing internet games my internet drops a signal bar which causes the webpage or game to freeze. However there is also 3 other laptops in the house and none of them lose signal when i do.
I recently bought a Nintendo 3DS but unfortunately my University's wireless security (WPA2 Enterprise) is incompatible with the system. As such, I was looking for a way to transmit a wireless signal from my computer, and place an alternative form of security onto it (such as WEP), so that the 3DS can connect to it.
At the moment, my desktop is connected via ethernet cable, which plugs directly into a wall socket. I'm pretty unsure as to what to use, I've heard of things such as 'wireless bridges', but I'm not sure how they work. Also, I'm looking for the device to transmit a signal even if my desktop isn't turned on. Is a router my only option?
I have a asus 1001 pxd netbook(intel atom 1,6 ghz,1gb ram, windows 7,Intel graphics accelerator 3150),with a wifi network adapter "atheros ar9285"my problem is:when i sit in the kitchen with my netbook (about 6 meters away from my wireless router, a Belkin with model number f7d1301 v1,and just a single wall between my net-book and the router)i have 4 or 5 ( max is 5) connection signal with my router(internet with no problems). but when i sit in my bedroom with my netbook(about 13 meters away from the router and 2 walls between my netbook and the belkin router and 1 floor higher then the router),then i have only 1 or 2 connection signal (max is 5)with the router. we have a cable network provider, but connection between pc's of this house and router of this house is via WiFi. Also we use a wpa2 key.once connected to the Belkin router on a signal higher than 3 there are no problems at all, perfect internet and downloads.
I currently live in a fairly-large apartment in Downtown San Francisco and as you can probably imagine, I have ALOT of interference with nearby residential and business wifi's, microwave's, cell-phones and all that jazz.
I currently have the ATT Elite DSL package, which is I believe the 6MBPS(?) package? Anyway, it's the $40 package and I want to say it's either the second or third up from the basic 19.95/month subscription. Here's my problem: ever since I moved into this building, I get signal drops on my ATT all the time--like at least once an hour if not more often. I had a technician check the wiring and he even replaced the router box (they always do) in hopes of improving the situation but so far, no dice.
I have tried switching to different channels after using scanning to see what channels other internet users nearby were using, but I did not see any improvement. The best solution I've been able to come up with is to set my router to be on 802.11B only. For the most part,I have not disconnected but I do feel a certain amount of slow-down or lag compared to my 802.11G settings. Now,I might be paranoid but it certainly does take a good amount of time longer to load up pages and such as compared to previously. The tech suggested I look towards getting an 802.11A/N router, but alas ATT does not support routers of that caliber...not sure why. It's been years and they're still stuck with the 2Wire 2701HG-B model for DSL.
Is there a way to view my exact signal strength(say in % I guess) with my laptop running windows 7?I had software for the wireless card in my tower pc which gave a signal strength of 70%. I'm curious if my laptop is getting a similar strength since they are close but a few feet apart. Or where in my house gets the best signal other than just showing low-excellent.
At random times AT NIGHT, while Call of Duty, Black Ops, the signal on the game goes red. I have spent more nights on the phone with ATT without resolution and refuse to call again. An ATT tech has come to our house twice, once to check the outside line and to look inside too. Signal to house is always fine.We bought the 2Wire 2701HG-B since ATT said that our problem was we were running a modem and seperate router. We even sent the PS3 out for service thinking it was the problem. Yet here we are again with a red signal in the game.On the modem, the ethernet and wireless flash VERY rapidly, its more like a strobe than a flash. The internet and dsl lights are solid. We are considering going to cable from DSL.
I doubted my internet ADSL is very weak. I used Cisco 877 router to gateway internet.I faced the problem my cisco 877 can't receive signal from ISP but I replaced to use Linksys Cisco. It worked. So I remoted to router and issued command show dsl interface atm 0 it can't generate DMT bit per bin it showed error.
I can never get consistent wifi in my home. I don't know if its because of the concrete walls with rebar inside them or what, but after two rooms I get literally zero wireless signal with my E3000 or WRT54G running boosted signals. Is there some router I can buy that just blasts the strongest signal possible?
I converted my old telephone wiring (Cat5e wire) to Ethernet by adding keystone jacks and then tied all the rooms together. I test every room for continuity with a LAN tester and everything showed up OK. I then plug my Ethernet in one of the keystone jack and check for internet in every room with my laptop received no connection. I connect the same cable to my laptop and everything works fine
I have a HP G62 laptop and it randomly disconnects from the internet even though it still has full wireless signal. However if I turn the laptop 180 degrees or lift it above my head it will reconnect .The laptop will also only work in certain rooms of the house and not others even though it receives a similar strength signal in all of these rooms. For example it will work in my bedroom which is upstairs and on the opposite side of the house to the router but will not work in the living room (unless i hold it above my head) which is right next to the router.
A second HP laptop in the house has no problems and will remain connected no matter what room it is in and how is held. The two can be right next to each other both with full signal and one will be connected to the internet and the other wont.I have tried updating the drivers on the laptop but this has made no difference. The router is an echolife HG520b. The hp laptop which has the problem has a Broadcom 4313 network adaptor where as the laptop which works fine has a Realtek network adaptor.
I just bought a Gateway dx4860-Ub33P.I took it to geek squad and had them upgrade the video card to Nvidia geforce GTX 560 as well as upgrading the power supply. When I set up the computer at my home office, the wireless adapter is not picking up the signals. My laptop is picking up the wireless signals just fine so I know it can't be a signal strength issue. My Gateway does detect one very weak network, but not nearly as many as my laptop. I also have Norton Antivirus installed if that is at all useful.
