HP G62 Laptop Losing Internet Signal

Jun 27, 2011

I have a HP G62 laptop and it randomly disconnects from the internet even though it still has full wireless signal. However if I turn the laptop 180 degrees or lift it above my head it will reconnect .The laptop will also only work in certain rooms of the house and not others even though it receives a similar strength signal in all of these rooms. For example it will work in my bedroom which is upstairs and on the opposite side of the house to the router but will not work in the living room (unless i hold it above my head) which is right next to the router.

A second HP laptop in the house has no problems and will remain connected no matter what room it is in and how is held. The two can be right next to each other both with full signal and one will be connected to the internet and the other wont.I have tried updating the drivers on the laptop but this has made no difference. The router is an echolife HG520b. The hp laptop which has the problem has a Broadcom 4313 network adaptor where as the laptop which works fine has a Realtek network adaptor.

Full Signal But No Internet On Laptop

Jan 17, 2011

when I log onto the PC, I have to reset the local network adapter in order to go online - it solves the problem every time. The real issue is with the laptop. It keeps dropping connection and, even when it shows up with a full signal, it can't connect to the internet and, when it does, it's really, really slow. I've tried resetting the IP address, I've gone in to make sure the network isn't hidden, I've checked the WEP key, I've even had it right next to the pc (which works only marginally, occasionally). We can't afford to buy another new laptop and I can't work out what the problem is.

Yellow Signal On The Internet And Disconnects

Sep 2, 2012

My internet at completely random of times drops and can take anywhere from 2 minutes to reconnect or 20. This may happen once a day, this may happen 10+ times a day. Totally different all the time. Basically what happens is it I get the yellow triangle on my taskbar where the connection should be saying limited connectivity, sometimes I get a complete red X going through it saying there is no connection. It always reconnects at some point though.

How To Increase Internet Performance / Signal

Jul 5, 2011

I currently have a dlink dir-655 in my basement. my computer on the second floor is connected via DWA-160. I Only have around 2-3 signal bars, and never get the 300mbs like described. i would like to know all the possibilities to extend my range (to have 5 bars) or get better connection speed. do you recommend an access point or an extender? Which models? also, if i have an dir-615, can i use it as an acesspoint/range extender for my computer on the 2nd floor? if so, how? I am looking for the cheapest alternative in order to have better signal and speed. The modem is stuck in the basement therefore I cannot move it.

I would also like to mention that I am also configured to use a broadband usb through a cell phone carrier, but if I can get the wifi free, I certainly don't want to pay for the broadband.By the way, it's an XP operating system.

Wireless Connection With Excellent Signal Strength - Cannot Use The Internet Though

Jan 2, 2012

I am using a desktop PC with a wireless USB stick attached in order to connect to the internet via a wireless router, however, although it states that I am connected with excellent signal strength, it continues to show a warning sign over the wireless connection signal bars ON THE DESKTOP TRAY ONLY. I can't surf the web on my desktop or on my IPAD through the wireless connection in which both devices detect. I have a Sitecom wireless router.

Strong Wifi Signal But Very Slow Internet Connection

Jan 16, 2011

I have a Linksys N Router connected to a Windows 7 computer. My wired connection through Comcast is an average of 25 Mbps. In the bedroom above me I have another computer with a Linksys N Adapter on Windows Vista. I am receiving a strong WiFi signal on an average of 240 Mbps. However, my internet downstream is less than 1 Mbps and the upload is over 3 Mbps. I've updated the router's firmware and reset it twice. I've also tried changing the channels and switching to broadcasting "N" only. Linksys won't facilitate because it's out of warranty.

All the other computers on my wireless network work fine and I can always connect to my neighbors wireless network to get internet access with the problem PC(A dell latitude E6410 with windows 7). When I have no internet access on my network and I run some diagnostics it says that my default gateway is not available.

Wireless Internet Signal Very Slow / Weak After Changing IP?

Dec 2, 2011

I used BT previously without any problems but now use Orange and now using the Internet downstairs is useless(weird flat configuration). The router is upstairs, next to TV(same location as the BT router). I dont know why the wireless Internet signal has become very weak. The only way I can use the Internet if I sit a few feet from the router. Even then, streaming videos on youtube still takes a while compared to BT. This affects all devices using wireless connection - even my Iphone is useless when used downstairs.

Signal interferance/ hacking? Router? Wireless adapter is up to date.

WRT150N - Wireless Signal Showing But No Internet Connection?

Jul 2, 2012

I recently moved and changed computers, but ive been trying to setup my Linksys WRT150N. I had one cable coming from the modem and into the port on the router labeled "internet" and then another cable coming from one of the router's ethernet ports, going into the PC.

I opened a browser and typed in 192.168.1.1 into the address bar and got to the setup page. When I search for wifi using either my laptop or my droid, it shows that there is an excellent signal and will connect to it, but when I try to perform a task that would require internet, it says that there is no internet access.

Internet Connection Slow Speed / Weak Signal?

Aug 31, 2011

We have cable internet through a wireless router. It seems to be the case that after we have had a router for about a year, my wife begins having trouble with her internet connection; slow speed, no connection, weak signal, etc. Resetting the router and cable modem will fix the problem, but the fix is only for a short time (an hour or a day). We purchase and install a new router, and everything is fine for about a year, then the problems re-emerge.I can't believe that a router "wears out" after a year or so, but that is certainly how it appears. My wife has a Toshiba laptop running Windows 7, I have a Mac, and our son has a Samsung with WIN 7. I don't experience these problems, and my son does not to the extent my wife does. There is obviously something going on with the Toshiba or its interface with the router, but rebooting the computer doesn't have any effect.

Transfer Internet Signal 1/2 Mile Via Phone Line?

Sep 5, 2011

I am currently in a situation where I want to share internet between a couple buildings at the site I work at. The problem is that it is a forested area and the buildings are about 1/2 mile away from the source of the internet. The only physical connection of the buildings is the phone lines running between them. Is there any way to use the existing phone line to transfer the internet connection to the other buildings and split it between 2 computers. I know that it would probably involve a substantial loss of speed, but I'm ok with that as the internet at the other buildings will not have heavy use.

Protocols / Routing :: WRT54GC - Getting Wireless Signal But Cannot Connect To Internet?

Mar 9, 2013

I had a power outage while online and when power resumed, I was no longer able to connect to the internet via my wireless router. My laptops (I have 2, work and personal) both receive the wireless signal from my router (a Linksys WRT54GC) but I get a 'DNS lookup failed' error message when trying to access the internet. My standard set up was Arris cable modem-->Linksys router-->Laptop but I've had to go cable modem-->Laptop via Ethernet in order to access the internet.

Both laptops are running WinXP Pro, SP3 and I ran 'ipconfig/all' on my work one, once when connected via Ethernet and once when I had my wireless connection enabled (but again, not connected to the internet). Results below.

D-Link DIR-615 :: Toshiba Will Keep 3 Bars Of Signal / Will Not Keep Constant Connection To Internet

Dec 17, 2011

I just got a new 2011 Toshiba Satellite L755 laptop with Windows 7, I also have a 2006 Compaq Presario with the original Windows Vista. We use a DIR-615 router for WIFI connection on both. The old Compaq will keep a connection with no problem and never looses a connection. The new Toshiba will keep 3 bars of signal but will not keep a constant connection to the internet. Do I need to upgrade my router, which I bought the one I have about 3-4 years ago, or could it possibly be a problem with my new computer?
