Yet the wireless is not "on" on the 1520 laptop. Purchased a new one; had no OEM software. Purchased Win764 bit Pro version. Installed it; finally found the original OEM resource disk from Dell and installed it. I downloaded a later version of the driver and yet it is not working.Is there a problem created by Win7 installation? How can I wake up the wireless so it can wirelessly receive and send items to my Smart Phone."
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a HP G62 laptop and it randomly disconnects from the internet even though it still has full wireless signal. However if I turn the laptop 180 degrees or lift it above my head it will reconnect .The laptop will also only work in certain rooms of the house and not others even though it receives a similar strength signal in all of these rooms. For example it will work in my bedroom which is upstairs and on the opposite side of the house to the router but will not work in the living room (unless i hold it above my head) which is right next to the router.
A second HP laptop in the house has no problems and will remain connected no matter what room it is in and how is held. The two can be right next to each other both with full signal and one will be connected to the internet and the other wont.I have tried updating the drivers on the laptop but this has made no difference. The router is an echolife HG520b. The hp laptop which has the problem has a Broadcom 4313 network adaptor where as the laptop which works fine has a Realtek network adaptor.
At random times AT NIGHT, while Call of Duty, Black Ops, the signal on the game goes red. I have spent more nights on the phone with ATT without resolution and refuse to call again. An ATT tech has come to our house twice, once to check the outside line and to look inside too. Signal to house is always fine.We bought the 2Wire 2701HG-B since ATT said that our problem was we were running a modem and seperate router. We even sent the PS3 out for service thinking it was the problem. Yet here we are again with a red signal in the game.On the modem, the ethernet and wireless flash VERY rapidly, its more like a strobe than a flash. The internet and dsl lights are solid. We are considering going to cable from DSL.

I have a button on my keyboard that turns my wireless on and off like many laptops do, and when playing these games after a couple minutes it will be turned off and I need to restart my computer to be able to get my wireless working again. This must be a problem with my computer and not the internet itself because I'm on campus and I see many other people playing games here.

I'm having a problem with my wireless connection. Every so often my wireless signal, showing a red cross next to the wireless bar, or it will lose the original connection on the available network lists after disconnecting. Every time it does so I've found that sending my computer to sleep and waking it up again solves the problem (I can reconnect to my original network). However, this is very annoying, as it some times happens every 5 minutes, and some times only every 2 hours.I have tried unticking the box on my network adapter with 'Turn off to save power', but this hasn't worked.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been having a problem with my wifi connection.I give my neighbor $15 a month to use his connection, so I have no control over the router.I'll be surfing along or just checking mail or whatever and out of the blue my connection stops. A little yellow triangle "warning" sign covers the signal strength meter in the lower right corner. If I click on the signal meter, up pops the list of wireless connections available to me and says that I'm connected, (but I'm not). So I go to the network and sharing center and sometimes this alone will restart the signal but usually I have to run the troubleshooter and the signal will come back with no explanation of what the problem is.While in the network and sharing center, my connection to the router looks clear and connected but shows a red X over the connection between the router and Internet.
View 3 Replies View Relatedwhere my internet dropped alot while playing ps3.i switched from my horrible d-link router to a DIR-655 Since i bought it, i've never dropped but my connection speed is an issue when playing my ps3.I use a wired connection through my router.some periods during the day it's 2 mbps download.. that's really slow considering my computer has 20 mbps download through wired connection.some periods during the day it runs fine @ 4 mbps - 5 mbps download (this is fine for gameplay but it lags a bit)if i directly connect my modem to my ps3 - it goes 20 mbps download (amazing fast speed)I called d-link technical support and did everything from port forwarding to turning on DMZ and putting my ps3 IP in there. I have a 2 part question: is there anything i can do to boost my ps3 connection download speed as high as it would be if it was connected straight to my modem while using a wired connection to my router? if that's not possible, is there anyway i can keep a stable download speed @ 5mbps?

After that day, I havent been able to play War of the Roses Beta game nor Age of Conan game, without internet stopping to work. League of Legends does not trigger this problem for some reason.
When problem occurs I get no connection to internet, although network says it has internet connection. I can connect to internet again after few minutes (5-15) and all is fine, until I play online games again. My friend says he hears me a little while (through xfire) after I get disconnected from the game, I dont hear him though.
I was thinking of making new thread, but I feel the problem might be connected or something. Atleast the problem sounds much like mine.

I can't connect directly to the modem because it's my roommates internet and it's connected to her computer so my only option is wireless or to connect directly via adapter that goes through the power outlets in the house. It's getting very annoying skipping around and it's almost impossible to play diablo 3 with this lag. I notice I drop a lot of packets when pinging to the diablo 3 server and I don't know why.

I have re-installed my game, updated my drivers, and i do not have any viruses. Also, i use a Dell Inspiron 1525 (i know its a horrible pc), once i lose connection i have to restart my PC just to get my internet connection back, and when it is done restarting, it says there is a problem with my WLAN card.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI bought a DIR-655 about 8 months ago. I had no problems connecting to the internet for the first couple of months. Then I would get a random connection problem where I would reset my modem or the router and all would be fine for a while. Then about a month and a half ago it started getting worse and worse and about 3 weeks ago it got to a point that I was resetting the router or modem daily to get a initial connection to the internet. And that would last until the next day when we would try to access the internet. Ocassionally, if I had a good initial connection, I would get a random loss of the connections a minute or two after I started surfing the web. Initially a modem or router reset would clear this up too. This happening both over wireless and through the hard wired connection. So it doesn't matter how I am using the Router. AND, most recently resets may not even get me a solid connection to the internet. So, I have bypassed the router for now.
The router was set up with changes to only passwords, network name, a changed router IP address and not broadcasting the wireless it has worked fine. After the reset, I left the router IP address as the default but changed the above security settings. Nothing else was changed. I have never had any issues logging into the router menus through the default or my defined IP addresses.
In doing some troubleshooting, I performed a reset on the modem several times, none of which resolved the problem, I was still losing the connection. Then I bypassed the router and did a direct connection to the modem and all is good and I have not had a connection issue since. I even tried changing the Ethernet connection on the back of the home computer to a different computer port but that changed nothing. I am currently trying a different cable. I am using the standard connection scheme:Cable from outside to modem, modem to router via Ethernet into the proper router port, Router to static computer via Ethernet. And a laptop accesses through the wireless. All cables have been working fine and are home built CAT 5e cables
It is really frustrating and I am not sure where to start now. Currently, I am running without the router for internet but I need it for the wireless to a laptop in another room. I use Time Warner Cable and have a Atlantic Scientific DPC2100 cable modem.
I have to reboot my router a couple of times per day because I lose WAN access. This occurs with both the wireless and ethernet connections. Basically, I see that I'm connected to the router, but have a self-assigned IP. Power cycling the router does the trick. I never had this problem before, so I'm wondering what's up. The firmware has long been up to date. Router version is 8.0.

I have a ADSL connection to the internet, last router I had did not have the same issue. I also have a Cisco ASA 5505 for work connected to the ADSL modem and is not experiencing any disconnect issues. All computers connected to the router is losing internet connection, local lan keeps working. The internet connection gets back again after a 10-15 minutes or when resetting / turning off the router.
I have tried the following;
Changed ethernet cables
Disconnected the ASA 5505
Turned off wireless
Upgraded the firmware
Reseted to factory settings
Router config and i just follow the instructions anyway i just bought this router cuz the old one failed and it was installed ok with internet connection and everything but when i open a program like bittorrent azureus the internet connection dies, it happens on my laptop and mac they both seem ok but when i open that program internet connection disappears

I tried the port forwarding method but with this router when I enable the ports I lost internet access in my wired devices but my wireless devices still have internet access. I even lost internet access on my computer. I never had manu problems with a router trying to get my NAT type open on my 2 xbox.

Ever since upgrading my firmware from 120426 to the latest(121225), one of my computer(windows xp, TP-link Nano) is frequently losing internet connectivity.I purchased the router a month ago and firmware 120426 was the version that came installed. The router would stop working about 3-4 times a week, requiring me to reboot it. Because of this I did some research online and found out about version 121225 which supposedly should improve performance and stability. After the firmware upgrade today I noticed that one of my computer is having a lot of trouble maintaining internet connectivity for more than 30 minutes. When checking wireless connectivity it would say that I am connected and that the signal strength is excellent. I'm also able to ping 8.8.8.8 but not www.google.com(I've tried ipconfig /flushdns and it doesn't solve the problem). I also have trouble accessing or pinging the router(192.168.0.1) with this computer.
Whenever my main PC is turned on, i get no signal from the wireless, like i cannot use my phone or laptop on the internet i use an ethernet cable which is direclty connected to my main PC. My windows is also window XP and my modem model is TG782T only if my pc is turned off the wireless works.

Normally it works fine with no problems, but a few days ago I started getting a connectivity issue. When playing games, even games that don't use the internet connection at all, and ONLY playing games (it's fine as I type this, I'm even dling something in the background), the connection will be lost, and the thing will immediately reaquire the signal and reconnect, the whole process takes like 20 seconds. The result is it's impossible to play games, I get 10k ms lag spikes every couple minutes that last for about 30 seconds, and if I'm playing most server based games (Steam Source games) I just get disconnected outright.

I've tried upgrading the firmware, had linksys techs resetting the router, gotten a new modem from my ISP. Hardwired the PC that I normally use.The router that I have is a WRT120N, each and everytime a linksys tech reset it's basically the same thing with the same disconnecting problem afterwards. I'm thinking it's usually when another phone device tries to connect to the wifi that it boots me off. I have 2 pc's, one laptop and my iphone that connects fine w/o any problems but when another android or iphone connects it causes me to disconnect.
