192.168.1.1 - Can't See Wireless Router Signal

Feb 23, 2013

I am trying to use a pre-existing DSL modem-router config in a club house my group uses for monthly meetings. Its a separate modem and router (Linksys or Netgear), forget modem brand. I'm unable to communicate with the owners of the equipment. If I connect to the router directly with a cat5 patch cord I can get on the internet just fine, but do not see a wireless signal from the router. I am also unable to connect with 192.168.1.1 from my laptop. I get the same message as if I'd entered a random nonsense url. I know you can go into your router and disable wireless but first you have to talk to it via 192.168.1.1 .

So I got clever and piggybacked another known good router into one of the Ethernet ports on the 1st router, and again got on the internet with a direct cat5 connection. But this time, I DO SEE the wireless signal from my 2nd router and can connect to it from the laptop, but still no internet! it's like internet access is blocked in the 1st router.

Transmit A Wireless Signal From PC?

Oct 3, 2012

I recently bought a Nintendo 3DS but unfortunately my University's wireless security (WPA2 Enterprise) is incompatible with the system. As such, I was looking for a way to transmit a wireless signal from my computer, and place an alternative form of security onto it (such as WEP), so that the 3DS can connect to it.

At the moment, my desktop is connected via ethernet cable, which plugs directly into a wall socket. I'm pretty unsure as to what to use, I've heard of things such as 'wireless bridges', but I'm not sure how they work. Also, I'm looking for the device to transmit a signal even if my desktop isn't turned on. Is a router my only option?

Wireless Adapter Not Picking Up Signal

May 20, 2012

I just bought a Gateway dx4860-Ub33P.I took it to geek squad and had them upgrade the video card to Nvidia geforce GTX 560 as well as upgrading the power supply. When I set up the computer at my home office, the wireless adapter is not picking up the signals. My laptop is picking up the wireless signals just fine so I know it can't be a signal strength issue. My Gateway does detect one very weak network, but not nearly as many as my laptop. I also have Norton Antivirus installed if that is at all useful.

Wireless Low Connectivity / Signal Strength

May 16, 2011

I have three desktops and one lap. I have TWC RCA modem and cisco linksys router and two usb adapters for wireless connection. situation is this: the modem and router are at one end of the house and one of the pc's is located at the other end. that one gets low signal strength only one or two bars and the internet works slowly to a point it feels like i'm on dial up. I've had people tell me to upgrade the router from wrt45g to n which I did to an e1000, but I still have the same issue. also was told to move the modem and router to the center of the house. but twc says that would not correct the issue.

Something about dividing the mpbs and the farther the pc the lower the signal. so, guess my question would be 1. does that sound correct to you. would it be better to move the modem and router? would it be better to have the one in question wired in? I did try an extender by netgear, which gave more bars/signal strength but but then would not connect to the internet. but I did that before I got newer linksys router. not sure if maybe I should try the extender again, but then the geek squad, when they came an set up the new router, said that it would probably do the same thing.

Yellow Triangle On Wireless Signal?

Mar 2, 2013

I have the M2N32-SLI Deluxe/Wireless Edition motherboard with onboard wireless. I built this computer myself. I did a fresh install of Windows 7. I installed the wireless drivers from the asus website by putting them onto a flash drive from my laptop and installing them on my desktop. On my wireless signal, I get the yellow triangle with a ! in the middle. Nothing else has been installed. I am at a loss of what to do to get rid of this and just get my wireless to work. We have 3 other laptops and one other desktop that work fine with no issues, but this one desktop seems to have problems.

Wireless Router Is Not Putting Out A Signal?

Nov 7, 2011

I have a Dell Wireless Router, yes I know terrible lmao but was free a laptop I bought my sister. Anyways, it does not seem to be putting out a wireless signal. However if hook an ethernet cord from the modem, to my parents pc, eliminating the router completely, the internet works, this is how the set up usually is. I have my pc upstairs with a wireless card and have never had problems until now. When I hook up the wireless router, the internet light, lights up etc. But on the main computer that is hardwired, loses internet. It just has "Limited Connectivity".I tried resetting, powering off, restarting. I tried to set up a new wireless network and the computer cannot find any wireless devices. My computer upstairs cannot find a wireless network either. We also have a wireless "Roku" box which is netflix, this works off wi-fi, but this also cannot get a wireless connection.

Ive tried typing in the routers ip just guession that is the 192.168.1.1, I have tried a bunch of others but cannot get into my routers settings. I am trying to get into those router settings thru my browser, Im trying to figure out the ip. However if I hook my router up I lose internet so i am un-able to do that.I build PC's and service them, but networking is where my expertise end.

Wireless Repeater Signal Keeps Dropping?

Mar 28, 2012

We have a home network which consists of one Motorola wireless router and 3 PCs. Two of the PCs connect directly to the wireless router without any issues, however, my PC dosent have a built in Wi Fi card so am using a TP Link wireless N USB adaptor.... so as you can imagine the signal is still very poor. So I have bought a TP Link AP and have it set up in repeater mode to increase the range of the router and thus improve my connection.

Now this works great in the short term as I get full signal, but the problem is the signal tends to drop out every 20 mins or so.Now, originally we were recieving an IP address conflict message which I thought was causing these drop outs, but I have rectified this by using MAC address filtering on the AP (think the AP was connecting to someone elses PC in our block of flats), but the drop outs still continue.

I have a static IP set on both my PC and AP and DHCP enabled on the Motorola router, I have also tried changing the Motorola's channel and moving the AP to different places but the story dosent change.I am a right noob when it comes to networking and have got this far by reading manuals, google searching and trail and error so dont know what else to do.

Wireless To Ethernet Signal Conversion?

Jul 16, 2012

I need to get a connection through a 3 storie structure.

On each floor, I have a cluster of servers set up. Conventionally, I would thread cat6 cables through the building but due to various reasons I cannot do that.

On the ground floor there are 2 ground lines which project a wireless signal.

I'm wondering, is there some way I can convert the wireless signal into an ethernet line? Perhaps through some kind of interfaced adapter. I've thought of buying a throwaway laptop and bridging the connections manually but I'd prefer to avoid that option if there are feasiable alternatives.

D-Link DIR-615 :: Getting Low Wireless Signal Quality?

Jan 19, 2012

I took my router with me to visit family at Christmas.  It wouldn't allow the wired computer through the switch, but yet I could talk to the router with my laptop.  Rather than reconfigure, I bundled up my router & laptop and let well enough alone. Now that they're all back at my house, I can't reliably get the laptop to connect - Low Wireless Signal error.  I've reset the modem & router repeatedly.  Tried Channels 1,6, 11 and 8&9 too.  n only, as that's my laptop's.  On 2 occasions it has connected, rebooted and auto connected and run for 4-5 hours.  Then it's gone.  I've beat this mess for 3-8 hours per day, for days...!!!Laptop(Vista) connects to every other wifi I've tried.  It's sitting 4 ft from the router.

misc. info.
separate dsl modem, Centurytel, Netopia Cayman 3300 series
no other devices beyond wired desktop and laptop
no changes in other neighboring networks

Awhile ago, I just tried to relocate my router upstairs and just drill a hole for a CAT cable to slip through to the modem downstairs from my room(as my room is directly above the router)...3 useless holes later, for whatever reason it is impossible to drill through. What are my other solutions?

TL-WR740N How To Extend Wireless Signal

Jan 21, 2013

Ground floor: My ISP's wireless router and an 8-port switch. For wireless communication I use the ISP's Wifi and the 8-port switch is used for wired rj45 sockets around the house.

1st Floor: I have a TP-LINK TL-WR740N Wireless Lite N Router 150 MBps which I connected to a socket and have a PC connect with wire on it and also used for Wifi. The Wifi network I setup on the 1st floor is different than the one on the ground floor (2 routers).

At the first floor I have the problem that in other bedrooms far from the router the Wifi signal (either gets lost) or it's very low. So I bought a TP-LINK TL-WA701ND Wireless N Access Point 150MBps which I configured as universal repeater.

The access point supports only WEP encryption when used as repeater/universal repeater so I changed the wifi of the router to WEP with ASCII with 128bit character length and established the connection. The most important now is that even though the Wifi signal in the bedroom with the AP is full, when I switch off the wifi of the iPad and back on, it is not connecting to the internet. Yesterday I noticed that it was giving me the ethernet card IP (169.…). I went close to the router with the iPhone, got connected and when came back to the room with the AP it was working but the iPad is not working.

Netgear Wireless Router / Samsung Laptop Not Picking Up Wireless Signal?

Aug 27, 2012

I've just bought a new Samsung 3 series laptop (Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit). I have two braodband lines at my home (1: Sky with standard Sky wireless router. 2: BT with Netgear wireless router). The Netgear router is primarily used for business but I also use it to connect with my old Dell laptop and my iPad. However I cant seem to connect with my new Samsung laptop to the Netgear router. I want to get rid of the Sky broadband line but neet to get the Netgear line working correctly first. If i turn the Netgear router off and then on again the laptop can see the router and picks up the wireless signal and connects for a few minutes before it drops off and then it can find it again. The laptop does similar with the Sky router except that the connection seems to last longer before it drops off and at least it can always see the Sky wireless signal for me to reconnect again.

When I run a network cord from the modem to the wireless router and then a network cord to the computer, two things happen:I do not get a connection to the internet on my computer. With laptops and iPods that are trying to connect wirelessly, I can see that the wireless signal exists, and the devices can connect to the signal, but no internet connection passes through. There are no firmware updates that I can find for this device, I have powered the router on/off for 30 seconds, and I have used the reset button.
