Windows 7 Routing Traffic Between NICs

Mar 21, 2012

I want to route traffic from nic 2(192.168.2.1) to nic 1(192.168.1.1). In lame terms route the traffic from 192.168.2.10(gateway 192.168.2.1) to 192.168.135(192.168.1.1). I know how to use the route command in CMD. So how would I get the traffic from 192.168.2.10 to 192.168.1.135? I'm just not sure how I would do that with the route command. I've tried

Code:

route -p add 192.168.1.135 mask 255.255.255.0 192.168.1.1 IF 12

Also tried like 5 different ways The IF 12 is my NIC 2.

Server With 2 Nics Routing Traffic

Dec 1, 2011

So i have a server with an internet nic and lan nic. The internet nic gets its IP from the router 192.168.1.7 the lan nic uses DHCP for the network and has 172.16.1.1. I just turned on the ftp service and it works fine in the lan side but cant reach it from the ISP side. I use a dynamic dns host which is monitoring my internet ip and is correct.

Routers / Switches :: Routing Traffic Across Nics From One Subnet To Another?

Sep 25, 2012

I have an issue with some traffic routing:

Machine A | Machine B (Win 2008 R2) | Machine C

Start: 192.168.5.9 > 192.168.5.5 (NIC 1) - 10.14.137.130 (NIC 2) > 10.14.137.128So the question is how do i get traffic from Machine A to Machine C. I've tried various 'Route ADD' cmds but no luck so far. So was hoping someone out there could shed some light for me?Machine B is a AD/DNS and can talk to the entire 10.14.137.x range but has no forwarders set up in DNS. And does not act as a AD/DNS server for the 10.14.137.x range. It fills these roles only for the 192.1668.5.x range.

Two Nics Enabled But Cannot Access Windows 2008 Server?

Apr 15, 2011

The situation is I have a windows 2008 server with two nics, connected to two routers. The routers are connected together as well. This diagram might explain further:[url]....

Each router effectively defines a completely different network. The server nic connected to the internet facing router is configured with minimal properties (no ip6, no file sharing, no netBIOS over tcp etc), the nic connected to the internal router has mostly default properties. Both nics have static ip addresses. Both networks define a subnet of 255.255.255.0. The nics are not bridged in the server and it is not acting as a router or anything network related.

The problem is I cannot access the server when both nics are enabled. If I disable the nic for the internet facing router, then everything is fine. If I establish a connection to the server such as through remote desktop, then re-enable the nic it still works but I can't ping or make new connections.

2 Nics In Windows 7 - Deleted Route Automatically Reappears

Jun 30, 2011

I have 2 NICs in my Windows 7 PC at work.NIC #1 connects to our private network and is also how I connect to the internet. NIC #2 connects to our customer's network and does not allow internet connectivity for me.When I first boot up my Windows 7 machine I get the following info in route print:Despite the fact that I have a persistent route with metric 1 to send my internet traffic to the 172 subnet, the internet requests go to the 10 subnet. I am guessing that is because the non-persistent route to the 10 subnet has a metric of 20 vs. the 21 for the 172 subnet. I delete the route 0.0.0.0 mask 0.0.0.0 10.242.1.254 and I am able to connect to the internet again.HOWEVER, after something like 4-6 hours, (without rebooting) the bad route automatically reappears in my route table! I become aware of it because I suddenly have connectivity problems. There are no entries in the Windows Logs that seem to be related (i.e., no DHCP renewal requests.) so I do not know how or why it reappears.

Protocols / Routing :: Windows 7 Routing Traffic Between VPN And NIC?

Sep 2, 2012

I have two computers. Computer A is connected to the internet through GSM network. Computer A also have NIC adapter which is connected to local network with IP 192.168.33.10/24.

Computer B in connected to internet with DSL connection.

On both machines I use TeamViewer to make VPN secure tunnel between this two computers. Computer A gets IP:7.200.100.2 Computer B gets IP:7.200.100.3

How can I access from computer B to specific device with IP 192.168.33.250 which is on local network of computer A?

Is it possible to route traffic from VPN to other local network, or it is some possibility to use port forwarding from VPN connection to specific IP address on the local network to specific port number?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 2224TP / Servers With Dual NICs Connected To Separate FEXs

Mar 26, 2012

Our current topology is a single N7K with two 48port 10Gb F2 linecards and FEX 2224TP in the server racks.  In a few of the racks that house important servers, we have placed dual FEX 2224's.  Each FEX has 2 10Gb links back to the N7k (each link on a separate LC).  I've tried to create a port-channel for the important servers in such a way that each NIC on the server is connected to a separate FEX - but its failing (simple drawing attached).  I've read multiple posts saying this is possible, and others that say its not.  I've also submitted a TAC case and have been told it's impossible to port-channel interfaces on separate FEXs connected to a single N7k - but I find this an impossible limitation and want to verify it's actually right.  Is this really a limitation?

Using 2 NICs To Connect Network

Feb 11, 2011

I have a networked PC with 2 NICs.One is connected to our business network, with a static IP address (10.38.75.xx) the other NIC (10.42.10.xx) is connected to a Controller machine. The business side of things works fine - network access & internet access works well. The intent with this PC is for a vendor to be able to RDP it (which he can) then open a browser and use the Controller's IP address (10.42.10.33) to access and control the connected machine.I am an administrator - logged in as myself, and trying to browse to this IP address, the page tries to load forever. It never times out or displays an error - just continues trying to load.At first, the vendor that was accessing this machine, when logged in as himself, COULD get the web page to open up at that IP - but he wasn't authorized to install an activeX program that needed to be installed. Logged in as myself, I couldn't get to the point where it asked to install the program.

Because I couldn't figure out how to fix this, I just set him as a local administrator as a short term fix - now he can't access the web page either. I've tried setting him back (removing his adminstrator privileges) - but now neither of us are able to access this page.

Bridging NICs On One Router?

Feb 27, 2013

I have a quick question to ask regarding bridging two NIC/LAN ports on my home server to two LAN ports on a single gigabit router. Is this possible? Will the router have any trouble determining IP addresses? If so, is a certain router required for this to work that I am unaware of? I'm run a google search for any info on this subject but this particular question doesn't seem to have been asked that I'm able to find.

I'm essentially looking to increase any bandwidth throughput if possible for content streaming on my home network.

Maximize Fileserver Dual NICS?

Apr 4, 2012

Ok so even though this isn't really needed, it's for a 10 user office I have two tower servers with dual nics but not the same brand (just bought a cheapy gigabit startech) to go with intel on board nic. Also my switch is also gigabit which is a trendnet teg-s24dg which does not support link aggregration.

But since I have two nics and both servers are running win2008 enterprise I want to use the other nics for throughput if possible. So to give an idea servers are doing DC/AD and fileserver DFS rep. If I turn one off the other picks up and network still functions (there is a small lag since dns has to pick up that other is not responding. So far the best I can think I can do with the extra nic is add ip's to second nics and add to dns and round robin or install NLB role to for two server cluster.

I can't really team them since they are two different brands, so what would you do or do you suggest I can do with them. Also I have a T1 and dsl going into a dual wan firewall dsl is not being used for anything. (might use it for a seperate wifi network if people need it.

USB NIC: Linksys Compact Wireless G

I am trying to connect my Laptop to Media Player HDD connected via Ethernet to Router. I want to channel traffic to/fro HDD separately from that of internet to/fro laptop (to make it faster - my assumption)

I have successfully done this by using the router as a switch when I had a cable modem. But now I have an ADSL connection to internet and my internet gets kicked off while I connect these using VLAN.

What I want is best possible configuration of my hardware to access internet and play/transfer media files on my laptop

Connect To Local Exchange On Machine With 2 NICs

Sep 12, 2011

I have a PC on a crowded network that cannot handle much more bandwidth usage.I am now going to have a tons of transferring to do offsite so I added a second internet line just to deal with the influx of file transfers.I tried a dual WAN setup on my router and the performance was not improved (if it was nobody noticed it) so I said forget that idea, I only need to do these massive transfers from 1 PC so I will just add a second NIC to the machine so that the 1st NIC can maintain local network functionality and the 2nd NIC will be just for internet traffic (sending files up/down to offsite location) Essentially I just need NIC1 for handling local network, connecting to exchange etc. and NIC2 to handle files transfes to offsite location through seconday internet line.So now I have a desktop PC with two NICs. One of them built into the board, the other a pci add on nic. they are both 10/100

On nic1, there is a connection to my network 200.200.1.X which is the internal network for Exchange, local files transfers etc. This is the network i have always had connected and I have no problem connecting to my exchange server etc. (my server is providing dns/dhcp/wins/AD/MSE for the entire network)so I installed a secondary NIC and a secondary network line to the NIC2 on the machine.I set it up with an IP, a SN, a gateway and a DNSI removed the gateway from the 1st NIC.SO then I tried adding a gateway to BOTH of the NICs..This allows me to do EVERYTHING I want, however when i go to whatismyip.com and get a result, the IP it is giving me is NOT either of my static IPs (each network has a seperate internet line with a static IP). Not sure where this IP is coming from, but if i tracert google.com it says I am going out through the primary adaptor. The new IP from whatismyip.com makes no sense to me as it is not either of my static IPs, however it is very close.Would this be a situation where my ISP see's I have 2 gateways defined so it generates a 3rd external IP for some reason? Never heard of this but i am no guru.essentially I just need NIC1 for handling local network, connecting to exchange etc. and NIC2 to handle files transfers to offsite location through seconday internet line.

Windows 7 Can't Receive Internet Network Traffic - Gateway Accessible

Aug 18, 2012

I just got my dad's old notebook (VAIO VPC F223FB) which is better than my older one. So, I did a backup and then managed to clean install a Windows 7 Professional x64.At first I had a problem with the drivers, because the internet wasn't connecting and the USB ports weren't detecting my External Drive. So, I tested other USB port and got it. Installed the drivers and I could connect to the wireless network. But it doesn't detect the ethernet cable! And I want it detecting because then it's faster. I already tried downloading the Ethernet Controller driver. At first, I downloaded through Sony's support site but it didn't recognize the driver. Now, it recognizes but still doesn't connect it. And when I tried Solving Connection Problems, it said the network gateway was accessible but Windows can't receive Internet network traffic.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: ASA 5510 Routing Specific Traffic To Inside Router

Nov 7, 2012

I have an ASA 5510, with Ethernet0 connected to Internet via a T1 line, Ethernet1 connected to LAN1, and Ethernet2 connected to LAN2.  LAN1 & LAN2 are independant, but share the Internet connection, via the T1 line.  On LAN2, I have another router that connects to the Internet, via a Comcast line.  I wish to route some of the traffic on LAN2 (10.38.77.0) to the other Router, on LAN2 (10.38.77.12) (connected to the Comcast line).  I have entered the following lines:

route inside2 10.11.0.0 255.255.0.0 10.38.77.12 1
route inside2 10.252.0.0 255.255.0.0 10.38.77.12 1
route inside2 172.22.6.0 255.255.255.0 10.38.77.12 1

I can trace the routes from the ASA 5510 (1st hop is to 10.38.77.12), but not from anything else on LAN2.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Routing Traffic In ASA5520 Failover Scenario

Apr 2, 2012

We're in the process of swapping in a new pair of ASA5520s and Catalyst 3750s to support two separate business units. We want Firewall A and Switch A to handle traffic for Org A (VLAN 100). Similarly, firewall B and Switch B should handle traffic for Org B (VLAN200). But we want to be able to fail traffic over in case of firewall or switch failure. Traffic between the two Orgs is being routed at the switch level. [code]

The uplink interface on each switch is currently a routed port with a static address on the uplink subnet.  This works fine in a normal state.  However, when we fail over one of the firewall contexts to the other chassis, this results in the inability to route internal traffic because the internal interface is now physically connected to a different switch with a different IP port address (obvious in hindsight).  The question is, rather than a routed port, what would be the proper way to handle traffic between the switches and firewalls in a failover scenario? If I make the uplink ports into trunks, won't this cause all packets destined for either firewall to hit both both?  Seems like that's not the way to go either? [code]

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Internet Traffic Not Routing Through VPN 891w?

Feb 21, 2013

I have an 891w as my edge device for my home office. I have a VLAN for family use (wired and wireless) that routes out to the internet just fine. I have a second VLAN assigned to a VPN tunnel that backhauls traffic to my corporate network (wired and wireless) and all of the traffic gets to the corporate network fine when I am on that VLAN.

However, while I am on the VPN VLAN, no traffic gets to the internet. I believe it is because I have the gateway of last resort (0.0.0.0) set to the WAN IP address provided by my ISP, so DNS is resolving against corporate, but because there is no specific route, it is trying to dump the traffic back out the WAN without traversing the VPN tunnel.
