Windows Can't Find Path Of Drive
Dec 18, 2012
I recently bought my book live 3TB everything works well with it, I can stream movies upload them, remote access and much more with a good speed, the problem is when I direct connect my book live to my PC via Ethernet, windows can't find the path of the drive. However, I tried to direct connect via Macbook and it works with no problem.I tried to fast reset my book live to factory default settings and direct connect from my book live to my PC via Ethernet, simply it worked! But then it stopped working for some unknown reason. Its a pain when i need to transfer large files via wireless.

I have a wireless network of PC, Acer Extensa laptop (laptop1), and Acer Aspire notebook (laptop2) which connect wirelessly to a Livebox. All machines are running XP (SP3). Laptop2 connects to the Livebox via a Broadcom 802.11g adapter. There is no problem with any of these accessing the internet. Until recently (not sure how long ago) there was no problem with any of them accessing each other.Yesterday we discovered that laptop2 has lost contact with PC. All other connections are fine (including PC to laptop2). I have checked evrything I can think of and have carried out a System Restore taking the machine back as far as I can but that has made no differenceLaptop2 appears to recognise the workgroup in its 'preferred networks' box but the PC does not appear in its list of computers on the network and any attempt to access the network (My Network Places>Entire Network>Microsoft Windows Network & click on MSHOME) results in "you do not have permission ..." then followed by "Windows cannot find the network path.."

have just set up a WLC 4402 as a Guest WLAN controller on the DMZ of our network. I have successfully managed to get our internal controllers to connect to it, with the exception of 1. it says the control path is up but the data path is down. the other 14 controllers worked fine, and in testing the last one was OK but it is now not working properly. the 2 controllers can ping each other but just won't create the data tunnel. there is a firewall in the middle but that has been set up to allow traffic between the 2 groups of controllers to be unrestricted.
the internal controllers are 4404's and all controllers are running the same version of code. 5.1.151.0.

I have always connected to other computers in my network, including my file server, and all of a sudden, it will not work. This is only happening on one computer. You can connect fine on all the others. I am running Windows 7 SP1, and in the network window, I can see the computers, but when I click on them to connect, it says "The network path was not found". If I access them via their IP in windows explorer, then I can access them . I have never seen this before. I attempted to disable Norton, I even un-installed it, and it still does the same thing.

I replaced my router with a Motorola Surfboard cable modem/router combo. Since then I cannot access my backup hard drive (buffalo linkstation 250g about 8 yrs old). Everything worked fine before I replaced the router. The only thing I have on my network is my HP laptop, vonage box and hard drive. Windows 7, Explorer 9.Router: 192.168.0.1 HD: 192.168.1.150I've tried "tracert" and only get back the router address. I've tried connecting directly from my laptop to the HD and tried the ip instead of the 'name'. I replaced the cables, rebooted the laptop, router and hard drive. I also went through the whole "add devices" on "devices and printers" and "search network for devices"

I have a desktop PC hooked up to an ethernet cable. I was surfing the web one day when the internet cut out and I haven't been able to get it back since. This was in Windows 7. I have two hard drives. The first has Windows 7 on it, and the second has Windows XP on it. When I load up the Windows XP drive, the internet works great. But, when I start the 7 drive, there's no possible way to connect to the internet. I don't understand it. I have the ethernet cable [that is usually in the PC] plugged into my laptop (running WINDOWS 7 of all things). I'm typing this from the laptop, and the internet works perfectly on it. I don't know what to do about this. I'll provide any more info needed.

I have never had to share an Ubuntu drive to windows before, and I never thought it would end up being this difficult. What I need to do is share my 500gb drive in ubuntu, it is a secondary drive, not the primary with the OS on it, to my windows xp and my windows 7 machines. So far I have samba installed on the ubuntu machine and I have formatted and set everything up. The issue is that I just cant figure out how to connect to it in windows becuase when i use the map network drive feature it says something about no network found.

Basically, her Windows (not sure which version) is telling her that to set up a secured connection, she needs to use a flash drive for some reason. She thinks she is able to get online right now, but only through an unsecured connection.
I don't think a flash drive is needed for this process, but as I am not even sure what this process is, I'm rather confused. What exactly is Windows asking of her right now? Her main thing is just to be able to connect to the Internet securely and easily.

At work we have a private network set up so that any computer that is plugged into the wall is on the same network. (i.e. all ip addresses are identical except for the last block of numbers)All machines are running WinXP.We have one computer set up as a file server (computer with shared folders) that is plugged into a wall socket. We have 3 other machines that can see and access the shared folder on the server computer once they are plugged into a wall socket. The odd thing is that these 3 machines have different settings as far as I can tell. They are all on different workgroups but they have no problem finding the shared folder. However, when I go to plug my laptop into a wall socket, I am not able to map a network drive. The error msg says it cannot find the drive. I have my laptop set-up on the same workgroup as the server computer and the server computer can see my laptop. But when I double click on my laptop in the server computer workgroup I get a msg saying permission is denied.
My laptop can connect to the internet, but cannot find the shared drive. I have tried turning off my laptop firewall, the server firewall, both firewalls etc with no success. In my Local Area Connections I have the following all enabled "Client for Microsoft Networks", "File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks", "QoS Packet Scheduler", "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)".

I have a domain with a domain controller Server 2003. I have a backup dc running an application with server 2008. The shared folder I am trying to access is on an nt server 2000. We have had a mapped drive "I:" and have used it for years. Our copier also scans to a shared folder on the server 2000 machine. All of the desktop systems are xp sp3 with one W7 machine. A couple of weeks ago when user attempted to access the shared/mapped drive, an error would occur that "the drive was in use and they could not be logged on". Sometimes the error would say "you don't have permission to access the drive." Mind you no settings have been changed on the network. When either of these errors would occur it would occur for everyone but if I rebooted the server everyone could connect again. The same errors would occur the next day or 6 - 8 hour later. Now the error has occured "Drive is already in use and you cannot be logged in" (I have tried drive Z as well the drive is not in use) and restarting the serever no longer works. No one can access the shared drive. I have unmapped the drive on my system and have attempted to reconnect, I enter the path and check reconnect at logon and it asks for a password. I enter the administrator password (which is what I always used) and it just pops right back up asking for a password as if I entered nothing. I can ping the server with the shared folder and even logon remotely so I know it is not a physical disconnect. I am not sure what changed and have followed many suggestions found to no avail. We cannot access the shares or scan.

I've setup a home network using Netgear N300 wireless router (using Windows 7).
I'm trying to get one of my hard drives to be available on the network, so I went to the "sharing" tab of the HD's properties setting and allowed sharing on the HD and turned off password protection so that you don't need a password to access the HD.I also set the permissions to give full control, change, and read access to the "Everyone" group.
From another computer in the network, I tried connecting to the network HD but ultimately got "Access denied" despite the fact that I gave full control to "Everyone".How do I get the computer to be able to connect to the shared HD?

I got ftp working for my usb attached wv delements drive , but it is totally invisible in windows (except for ftp of course).I read in an older post that the usb drive in certain situations does not work (independent of disk manufacturer/type and such) and for certain configurations the ftp option might work but the windows mapped network drive doesn't , does that still apply? does it apply to bridged mode ?

I'm currently in college, and do most things with my laptop, and I have wifi just about everywhere. It has a generous 500 GB of storage, but I'd like to store non-essential files on, an external hard drive. However, lugging around 3 TB of storage isn't exactly feasible, and with my experience with my current 1.5 TB portable drive, me running around everywhere with it bouncing in my bag is just going to abuse it until it stops functioning (which it has...)[URL]

I am trying to network my new laptop (Windows 7) with my old desktop (Windows XP). I made sure they are both on the same workgroup, the usernames are the same. I turned off the firewall, temporarily, even though I shouldn't have to because it's only the Windows firewall. I can see/access/read&write files on my Win7 machine from my WinXP machine. But I cannot see the WinXP machine from the Win7 machine. I set up a couple of test share folders in different locations, but cannot see the computer at all. I have done the 'diagnose problem' and received errors: 0x80070043, 0x80070035, and 0x80004005 after various attempts.

my computer has been playing up the last couple of weeks not finding my network, even though ive had it about a year now without any trouble before. my laptop and iphone still pick up the wifi with no problems.i decided to format the computer as i wanted to do a clean install anyway, which has not made any difference. i have even tried bringing the desktop downstairs now and placed it directly next the the router to see if it would pick it up then, which it hasnt.
i have used an edimax wireless usb receiver ever since the computer was new which worked fine up until now, i also purchased a wireless pci card to see if that worked (wasnt sure if my my edimax usb had broken), which still doesnt work. the drivers for both the pci card and the usb receiver are up to date.i have tried logging into the routers firmware and changed the channel from 'auto' to channels 1-12. with no luck. i have now had to plug my computer into the router via the ethernet port to get the internet working.
i also run ubuntu on a dual boot, which for some reason also doesn't pick up the wireless network. (however my laptop runs ubuntu and does pick up the wifi)
