Linksys Wireless Router :: EA3500 Laptop Loses Connectivity / Very Difficult To Re-establish Connection
Apr 22, 2013I have a new EA3500 router that's working great for a variety of devices* except a Windows7 laptop. 24 hours after establishing a connection, the laptop loses connectivity and it's very difficult to re-establish a connection. Usually I have to reboot the router, but 24 hours later the problem returns and Windows is unable to connect.
My router settings include DHCP client lease time set to 1440 minutes (24 hours), so I thought the problem might have something to do with DHCP lease renewal. To test this theory, on Saturday night I did ipconfig/release and ipconfig/renew and established connectivity from the laptop.
Sunday morning I spoke with Linksys support and changed several settings per their recommendation:Network mode mixed (I had it on N-only for some reason)Assigned different SSIDs to the 2.4GHz band and 5 GHz band2.4 GHz band channel is 20MHz only, using channel 95 GHz band channel is 40 MHz only, using channel 161I also power cycled the router. Everything worked fine until Sunday night, 24 hours after the release/renew, when I lost connectivity. I am not sure what to try next and whether the problem lies with the router or the laptop.

i have a trunk port on my cisco 2960 that is connected to GiE0/0 on my Cisco ASA that has 2 sub-interfaces with IPs in the subnets mentioned above.my problem is i can only connect to 10.30.6.X from 10.11.35.X (and vice versa), but no connectivty to 10.30.5.X
Limited Or No Connectivity On Local Area Network?
May 13, 2011I keep getting this pop up message that says "local area network limited or no connectivity". It appears every 20-30 seconds and drops my internet connection. When I click on the message and opens up the connection box, it states it's functioning properly.

I do not have a problem communicating with the router itself (either hard wired or wireless) but I have been unable to establish a usable internet connection from the router.I live in building that is wired by Restech Services - Ethernet jack in wall - no modem. Connection works just fine if I bypass router and connect directly to PC (windows XP SP3 desktop or windows 7 laptop.),Very difficult to establish any internet connection at all. I have to renew IP address many times or go through re-boot sequence multiple times. Once I get a connection it is unusable. If I attempt to ping a URL (either from PC or from router admin page) it is unable to resolve host. If I ping an IP directly (either from PC or router administrator page) I typically get 60 to 80% packet loss. As noted, if I bypass router and make internet connection directly to PC - no problems - no packet loss.Used Cisco Connect software to set up. On advice of ISP changed MTU from 1500 to 1300. Also registered MAC id with ISP and changed from cloning PC MAC to using the router MAC. Downloaded and installed latest firmware version. Did factory reset and re-configured the whole thing. Double checked and swapped wiring.

This is issue is with my Dell laptop that--up till an hour ago--had a wireless area connection icon in the lower right corner and a Wireless Area Network option when I went to "Network Connections" (I still have my LAN option.) I was using a Driver Whiz program to update all my drivers when it said I needed some Intel Wireless Config program. So I downloaded it but at the end I had no Internet access and no icon, etc. So I uninstalled that program but it was too late. I've even tried a system restore to a few hours prior to this mistake of mine to no avail. My husband says I need to connect hardwire to the Internet and download a WAN driver...is that correct?

When I detached it the internet access to the desktop machine was not functioning. That was diagnosed as a problem with the I.P. address (presumably when i attached my laptop.) This computer is a new gateway 64Bit with windows 7 running IE9,(Gateway model# NV57H77u, 3GB DDR, 320GB HDD, all usb ports are 2.0, and wont recognise the modem for dialup. When I connected modem to my computer, 1.1 port, the dialup connection worked fine(but this computer is a 32BIT compac CQ-50 wm139 with widows 7 installed as upgrade running IE9, 2GB) I tryed to connect the compaq 2.0 port for connection and couldnt connect, the 2.0 ports recognise the device as a FAX unit and wont connect to the dialup it just gives me the dial sound and loud screech when num. is reached. I believe it has to be a 1.1 port to establish a connection because of the rate of transfer differance, between these two ports, dialup very slow.

Can ping laptop and laptop can ping desktop. I have no issue on my desktop machine getting to the internet only issue is with laptop. I have disabled/removed all apparent firewalls/antivirus. Using Windows XP SP3 and both Firefox and IE. Proxy is off in Firefox and IE. . Have reset network adapters. Network adapters are set to get DNS and IP automatically. IP Config shows IP address and the DHCP and DNS Server addresses are correct (FIOS Router). Windows Firewall is disabled. Something is stopping me from going outside the local network.

I've never been able to get the hard wired desktop to connect to the internet via the router, so, when the desktop is used, the router is disconnected from the modem and the desktop is connected.I do not have free access to the modem, router or desktop devices, but I do have free access to the 2 laptops.I would like to be able to install on one of the laptops, something that would keep track of the internet connectivity.
I know that even when the router is disconnected from the modem, it is still sending it's wireless signal (most likely) but it's not connected to the internet anymore.So, I would like to be able to know the date and time the router looses internet connectivity and the date and time it gets the connectivity back every time this happens.I would love to be able to monitor the activity that takes place on the internet during that time frame, but know it's not possible when all I have access to is a wirelessly connected laptop that would lose the internet connectivity. So, it would be good just to be able to know when the router is disconnected and how long it is disconnected.
Wireless Internet Connection Very Slow And Sporadic Connectivity?
Nov 4, 2012Ive been running my computer on our home wireless internet connection with almost no problems, but about two weeks ago our internet went down and after it went back up a day later i had very slow internet speed and a very sporadic connectivity (random disconnects, dns timeouts etc) I used to get speeds up to 20-22 mbps but now i can barely push 4mbps, the other computers on our network has fine connectivity its only my stationary computer that has these issues

I have recently purchased a new desktop computer that does not have an internal WiFi card. To remedy this I bought the TP Link TL-WR702N. Currently my access to the internet is provided by a mobile WiFi router (one of these: { URL}, that spreads a wireless signal throughout my house for things like my phone and laptop to connect to. I was under the impression that the WR702N would be able to connect to this network and let my new computer run on it (I believe it's called client mode?)
Now so far I have not been able to get my computer to recognize the existence of the TP Link modem, despite both Ethernet and USB cables being plugged into the computer. I think I need both logging in and changing the mode from AP to client mode.
I emailed support and was given the instruction to read this FAQ [URL], however, when following those instructions, after clicking on "Change adapter settings" instead of reading the router, all I get is a blank screen.

I've been trying for two weeks now to connect to the internet but can't. This suddenly happened on a Monday after I got home from work. Up until that point, I have had no problems. At first I thought it was my cable, but when I plug the cable into my brother's PC, it works. Then thinking it could be my network card, he picked up a wireless card for me, but still no go. I've searched these forums and many forums over the internet and tried many things but I still have no luck. I've scanned for viruses and malware but nothing has turned up.
I have Norton anti virus but installed Adaware per recommendation to double check. I also used Malware Bytes. On Xirrus, I clicked the ping test and everything showed as pass but still, low connectivity. I get that even when I plug in the cable. When I look at my connection status under activity, the bytes sent and received are in the low thousands.I have only a very basic understanding of networks. [code]....

Aug 6, 2011My house was in the middle of a lightning storm today while I was out and I came back to no internet. Figgured it was just the phone lines down, but connectiong directly to the modem I found I had connectivity. The WRT54GL (flashed with DD-WRT) doesn't pick up the WAN IP, I've checked with multiple ethernet cables, 2 different modems (all of which work fine with our computers, providing connectivity) and am currently using the router that the WRT54GL displaced ~8 years ago. I'm assuming it's just dead, but wanted a second opinion... kinda odd that a surge would have come through the phone line, through a DSL modem and killed the WAN port of the router instead of taking out the modem?

My wife's one-year old laptop computer (Dell Inspiron 5010) worked fine until this week when it suddenly lost connectivity and I can't get it back on-line. My laptop still works fine. I first ensured that the wireless function is on. I then clicked on the connectivity icon which shows "No connections available". It also won't show me any available wireless conection options. Under the "Open Network and Sharing Center" link, I've tried the "Set up a new connection of network" and "Connect to the internet". Under "How do you want to connect?" it only gives me "Dial-Up" as an option initially and adds "Broadband" when I choose "Show options the computer is not set up to use". When I choose broadband, and enter my user name and password, I get a message that "The wizard cannot create the connection". I also went to Control Panel, Internet Properties, Connections, Set-Up, and it takes me back to the same "Connect to the Internet window mentioned above with the same issues. I also plugged my wife's computer dirrectly into the router and still got no connectivity. How do I get my wife's computer back on-line?

Nov 19, 2012I have an EA4500 router. It's the latest in a long line of Linksys routers I've owned and I'm pretty familiar with setting one up and making changes. But the EA4500 seems a bit more picky than previous routers. Last night I tried to enable port forwarding for ports 53, 80, and 88 for my xbox. I already had port 3074 forwarded. When I did that and applied the change, I lost all Internet connectivity. I tried cycling the power on the router with no luck. I finally got connected again by going to 192.168.1.1 and disabled those ports. The status page then said I had Internet connectivity but I really didn't at least right away. It took a couple minutes before I was actually able to to connect to the Internet again. What else should I check when it says I don't have internet connectivity?

Nov 4, 2012I have an RV220W running firmware 1.0.4.17. I have a couple of wireless laptop users that connect to the wireless without problems, but frequently cannot access the Internet. They can always access local network resources, but for some reason when laptops are first powered up or are idle for a prolonged period of time, Internet access is lost. Wired clients never experience this problem and always maintain local network and Internet connectivity.
To get the laptops to access the Internet over wireless, we have to run a TRACERT command from the command prompt to a public IP address, and then all Internet access is restored.

Aug 4, 2012The issue is that one Dell laptop is experiencing slow or no internet connectivity at all using wireless. Sometimes 1 to 2 minutes to load a page, other times the dreaded 'not able to display webpage' message. It's fine using Ethernet. I have another laptop (same exact brand/model) and it has no problems. I also have a Macbook Pro and other Apple IOS devices (iPod/iPads) that are fine. Several Ethernet connected devices are fine as well. The laptop in question had no issues with my previoius Linksys devices, which are a BEFSR41/WAP55AG as well as a WRT-54GS v2. This one laptop was fine the first day or two on the EA4500 but something happened which is causing this issue. I had to add the WAP55AG back onto my network so my son is happy again, but my plan was to decommission the other devices.
