I have a HP 3050 Deskjet printer that I can not get to print from my laptop wirelesslyIy was originally set up by myself and worked on three pc's but I had to have BT assistance with my router. I think since reset from them it has lost all settings. Is it easier to uninstall from each pc and reload, my main concern is that it can not even be seen as a network device

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have an HP DeskJet 3050 wireless printer connected by WiFi to two laptops. One laptop, a Dell 700m, runs XP Pro with all updates applied. The other laptop, a Dell XPS 15, runs Windows 7 64-bit, again with all updates applied.The printer works completely reliably from the XP machine. From the XPS 15, the printer works reliably for a day or so, then the icon in Devices & Printers is grayed, indicating the printer is offline. Even in this condition, I can access the printer's built-in web server using Firefox on the XPS 15 and the connection appears to be fine. The printer's IP address has not changed. But the printer is still reported as offline for printing by Windows.
The workaround is to delete the device and reinstall it using Add Printer and Have Disk, but using the already installed drivers rather than re-installing. After doing that, the printer then works for a few days before again going offline.This problem is extremely irritating. I've done Google searches on this problem. Although I've found a variety of similar reports for various brands of wireless printers on Vista or Windows 7, I've not seen a solution. My latest attempt is to share the printer on the Dell 700m and print to the shared printer from the XPS 15. We'll see if that continues to work for a few days (I suspect it will). But this isn't really a solution and not always convenient.
Looking to set up a wireless printer (HP Deskjet 3050 All-in-One Printer - J610a) for use by another computer on the network; at present the printer is wirelessly connected to the router (Linksys e1000) and the software is installed on one computer (Win 7). The router recognizes a Network printer but no details about type.
The printer works correctly with the Win 7 machine but can't be found by the other machine (Win xp). Could it possibly be that I need to install the same software on the Win xp computer in order for it to be connected? Just guessing here as that was the case with another printer I networked but it was a Canon brand.

I just bought the e1000 router today and I'm already having trouble. I got it setup the first time and all my computers set up with it and it works fine for internet. Everything is snappy and responsive and I don't have any of the problems I did with my old belkin. However, I am unable to connect to the router using cisco connect or the web interface. I need to forward ports, configure wireless security, etc etc. All I did was disable the guest account through cisco connect, and then when the software just sat there doing nothing with the spinning circle in the middle, I opened task manager and killed the process to get it to go away. Now I can't connect using either cisco connect or the web interface.

xbox 360 sees both the 2.4 network (ssid = network1) and the 5.0 network (ssid network2) when it does its scan.
Initially, xbox showed network strength for 2.4 network at 3 out of 4 bars and 5.0 network at 1 out of 4 bars. Connects to 2.4 network just fine, Won't pull an ip address and reports "Not connected" when I select the 5.0 network.
I tweaked the wireless settings per some suggestions I found in this forum and now it shows the 5.0 network at 4 out of 4 bars signal strength. Also turned security on and off and xbox 360 reported the changes in security on the 5.0 network. So the xbox 360 is definitely seening the 5.0 network. and can tell if it is running WPA2 or not. If it can see the 5.0 network and recognizes what security and network type (infrastructure) is set, would would stop it from connecting to the WRT610n router and getting an IP address? No mac filters or firewalls are set and, again, connects just fine and gets an ip address if I select the 2.4 (network1 ssid) instead.

I have 1 laptop using 5G, my iphone using 2G and my wife mac using also 2G.. the problem is that, once we stop using the 2G connection (leave it overnight), it just dies the next day.. it wont connect, i double check the password and it wont connect. It worked perfectly, but when I returned home I found my laptop could no longer connect to the home network, it just says it cannot connect, but all the over devices in the house work. My laptop can still connect to the internet via an ethernet cable but this isnt practical at home. I have a Canon iP3600 printer plugged in to a desktop computer, running Windows XP.The printer is set up to be shared and several devices around the house are connected to it, via WiFi, including my old Acer laptop.The Acer is running Windows Vista and happily prints remotely, provided the XP desktop is on, of course. However, my Acer is now dying and I've replaced it with a Dell laptop, running Windows 7. I've set the new Dell up to use the printer directly, via the USB cable. However, when I try to connect the Dell remotely, via wifi, when I use the 'Add printer' facility I've used a hundred times before, when I do it on this computer, the wizard reports it cannot find a driver. I also get this problem on our eMachines laptop, running Vista, and another desktop machine also running Vista.
However, an HP laptop running Windows 7 upgrade, several Android phones, games machines etc. can all print remotely, quite happily.It doesn't appear to be anything to do with the signal - I've tried practically sitting on top of the printer, and practically sitting on top of the Router, with no problems. And attempting to direct the 'Add printer' wizard to another driver doesn't seem to work either. It just seems a bit thick. "Can't see printer driver!" How about the one under your flippin' computer eyes then? No? It's not that going downstairs and plugging in the printer USB is inconvenient. Plus it results in my kids fighting to use the XP to do their homework. The wifi is a BT Business Broadband ADSL network. The router is the BT one supplied.
