Sep 30, 2011My wireless internet will randomly shut off, roughly every other day. It will shut up and say that my wireless router needs to be reset, but all other wireless devices continue to work throughout the house. I could run any amount of diagnostic but it will not fix. The only time it fixes it when it says "repair as administrator" as one of the options in diagnostic test which does not always appear. I went to school yesterday, and my laptop would not connect to the wireless network there at all, but everyone else around me connected fine.

Dec 18, 2012I have the e4200v2 with Smart Wifi (formerly Connect Cloud). On my previous routers, I've been able to shut down internet access for my ENTIRE home network at a specific time each night and then re-allow access again at a specfic time the next morning.
In using the Parental Controls on the 4200v2, it appears I have to set times for EACH and EVERY device on my network. I have 4 kids and a very heavy wireless network, including 3 Xboxes, 1 PS3, a Bluray player, a Directv receiver, an RCA media streaming device, 4 laptops, 1 desktop, 4 IPODs, and 1 IPhone on my network.
My goal is to shut down the internet access completely each night at Midnight, then re-allow access the next morning at 6am in order to ensure my kids aren't up all night playing games, etc. But the the Parental Controls on the 4200v2, it appears I have to do this for EVERY device, instead of being able to just shut down access across the board like I could with the old Linksys web-based interface.

Internet Connection On One Computer But Not On Other?
Dec 26, 2011I just got windows xp 64 for my computer and completely restarted/rebooted it. (started from scratch) It successfully downloaded but I have no internet connection. I have another computer plugged into my netgear box and it works perfectly fine. I checked and made sure everything was plugged in right and restarted my netgear thing but it did not work. There is no packets coming in or out of it connection but it recognizes that I at least have something plugged in.

Jun 27, 2012We currently have 1 PC and my laptop connected to the internet with 0 hassle. My father brought in his work computer last night and asked me if I could set it up. Only problem is I cannot for the life of me have it connect to the internet.
He has a PC with Win7, and when I search for a network it says there's no connections available. The PC is inches away from the modem. Also, our other two computers had no problem picking out the connection after a quick scan.
I started to lose hope when I ran an ethernet cable into the PC to see if I could get it to recognize the connection.
No luck. This is not a brand new computer, it's his work computer that before the move was operating just fine.

Mar 24, 2011I am with Virgin media (UK) and have the 20mbps fiber optic connection. My area has recently been having problems with the broadband and Virgin has recently fixed these problems. However I used to get around 19mbps now that the problem is fixed my computer which is wired to the router gets about 0.4mbps downstream... However the 5 wireless computers all get 16mbps which is pretty good for them. Windows tells me that its a firewall issue and I currently can't use two programs, spotify and steam. They both have firewall issues, even if I turn off my firewall which is the windows one. I also have avast, and when I turn that off, still no good. I used OpenDNS, stopped using that flushed my DNS, that didnt work. I tried to optimize my computer settings, by changing various values in Regedit.All of this has done nothing. I should add that I have recently re-installed Windows 7 so on this fresh install it has never had decent internet speed. Which I thought was weird.. I have basically had these problems since the fresh install. All of my drivers are up to date.

Dec 9, 2012I have 2 laptops and 1 desktop all connected to the same router, the 2 laptops are connected via wifi and the desktop PC is currently connected via an Ethernet cable, both laptops run windows 7 while the desktop runs windows XP and more or less every time the desktop is booted after a few minutes of normality connection to the internet is lost and the yellow triangle on windows 7 appears so to fix this I have to go into my routers settings via 192.168.1.1 and reboot which then solves the problem and all machines function as they should including the desktop.

However I went on holiday for a few days, and so I turned all the plugs off at the wall(something I never do) and since I got home im getting speed of around 20-25mb. I called the engineer out but he wasnt able to do anything because when he connected it to his laptop, he was getting speeds of 47mb. The problem starts when trying to shut sown Win 7, when I try to power off the system, the little blue light flickers about 1/2 dozen times then goes Steady Blue and stays that way till it shuts off..I have to manully take it out of the USB port each time I shut down my PC or it will get really hot and Probably burn up. Nothing has changed, location still the same and it seems to be overheating or in the very least getting warm. In the last It will also shut down multiple times a day too.
