Feb 1, 2012I have 3 PCs (win7-64) connected to a wired gigabit network to achieve fast transfer of large files. Separately, at a distance, I have a modem-router to access the Internet. Internet access for the 3 PCs is achieved with each PC connected wireless to the latter modem router. The 2 networks are running OK and PCs can connect each other on both networks. Question: How can I know and achieve that the gigabit network is used for file transfers and not the slower wireless network? How should configure both routers and PCs to achieve this? I don't need the wireless setup to be a network, just to provide wireless access for each PC and that's it. I used to have the gigabit LAN configured with a Dlink DAP1522 bridge that created a single wireless connection between this wired LAn and the modem-router but it stopped working and I'm pretty done with it.

Router has 2 v lans, VOICE and DATA. All switch ports configured for access v lan (DATA) and voice v lan (VOICE)
We need the AP to have an SSID for VOICE and DATA and the gateway/DHCP server for each of these to be the router.

Jun 2, 2013I need trouble-shooting wireless network connectivity issues that arose recently:We use a Comcast modem and two WRVS4400N's as wireless routers/wireless access points.We recently got our comcast service upgraded to 100/20 and also got rid of our static ip address. As a result (I think there must be a sort of causal relationship here, but I'm not sure what it is) we can no longer connect to the internet using our wireless networks. We can connect to the wireless network, but have "No Internet Access."

Apr 28, 2013I have xfinity internet with a comcast rented modem connected to a personally owned belkin router. I can successfully connect to the internet directly from the modem or if I connect to the modem to the router and then to my computer via ethernet cable. I cannot for the life of me connect wirelessly with any devices. The router previously worked when it was hooked up to comcast internet, but it was moden->router->my router. When I connect wirelessly on my Windows 7 laptop, it says I connect and that there is internet access. But when I try to load a page it takes me direclty to this website: url.. Comcast says that it is my router that needs configuring properly with xfinity and wants to charge me $39 to provide this wonderful service.

Apr 16, 2012I see a lots of problem associated with wirless connectivity with WRVS4400N, with following config
Firmware version - Firmware Version: V1.1.13
Wireless connectivity - G/N Mixed
Auth - WPA2 AES
Everything else default and AUTO,
Problem:The end devices suddenly drop connection. Wired connection works just fine. The DROPPED device can not be reconnected. On MAC I get AUTH time out. I see the SSID being broadcasted from my HTC wireless analyster so radio may not be the problem. I changed to set the speed to G only or N only but not avail. ONLY way to recover from this is rebooting the router.

All clients (max 3 at the same time) connect wireless.The problem is that the last few weeks my connections is very unstable, all clients lose the internet connection until you restart the router manually.I can't even connect to the webinterface (192.168.0.1), during the downtimes.

Mar 8, 2013I currently have a Router that is ADSL2 & VPN capable. It currently allows me to work from home and connect to work servers securely. I have used traceroute [URL] in CMD to determine that all web requests/traffic goes through the VPN server rather than just the requests to access files on the VPN server.I don't feel comfortable having all my traffic now go through work servers(the VPN) so I would like to avoid this. I know I have 2 solutions:- Use Split Tunelling on the router where only requests to files on the VPN server will go through the VPN server, all other traffic is not through the VPN. I have heard that this can compromise the whole network as one node is currently 'unsecured' and can affect/compromise the whole network. Is this true?
- Add a second Router that doesn't connect through the VPN. When I finish work I disconnect from the VPN Routers wireless connection and connect through the second routers wireless connection. I would like to take solution 2 because I wont be compromising the whole network but I have some questions:- Is this something you would recommend?
- Is it dangerous? Is it just as compromising as solution 1?
- In Australia we use physical Phone Splitters for our internet physical connection. One side of the splitter connects to a phone line port on the wall. The other side has 2 ports, one for the phone line connection and one for the router/adsl connection. If I have 2 routers I'll need a splitter that has more than 2 ports so I can connect the 2nd router to the internet. Are there Phone Splitters with more than 2 ports and do ISP's allow me to do this?

Nov 12, 2012I have reset my RV082 router (both wit the reset switch and the factory default wizard) and run the setup wizard but regardless I can't connect to shaw.ca which is my service provider. I notice that if I use http://192.168.1.1 the browsers (IE & FF) default to https://192.168.1.1 and then I am prompted for a certificate. I can enter if I ignore the request but after getting in I simply cannot connect to my ISP.

Nov 19, 2011I have the Apple Time Capsule connected to my ISP using PPPoE and it is working just fine creating a wired and wireless network. The IP address of TC is 192.168.1.1 and I have set it's DHCP range between .100 to .200Next, I wanted to add VPN to the router as I live outside the US and wanted to access some services in the US. So I got an ASUS router and flashed it with Tomato firmware.I assigned the ASUS as IP address of 192.168.1.10, connected this it to a LAN port on the Apple and used a DHCP type Internet connection to set it up. I then created a second WiFi Network and gave the DHCP range between .11 to .20Now using any Wi-Fi device, I can connect to either of these networks and browse the web just fine. The ASUS is all setup as a VPN client so any traffic going through the ASUS is through a US based VPN.
