Wireless Connection With A Charter Modem And Linksys Router?

I have a Toshiba laptop that has no trouble picking up the wireless when it gets the signal, but my modem keeps dropping connection and then lights go to flashing on the modem at the most random times. I sometimes have days where I can't use the internet at all because it won't connect. I had a friend look at it and they said it could be faulty wiring for my cables. Is that possible? And if so, what should I do? I am getting frustrated by not being able to use the internet. It never lets me connect when it's raining here and then if there is no trouble with the weather, it is the same exact way

So about a month ago I made the switch from AT&T to Charter and had a ton of problems those first 2 days getting it running, then after that it was running just fine until today.Last night it randomly stopped working, but I didn't want to fix it at the time(to tired).
It seems like when the modem does a restart it won't work with my router unless I disconnect all the ethernet cords going out of the router except the one going to the modem. And once I verify a connection(router has a light) I can connect the other ethernet cords and everything will function just right.So I fixed it this morning and about 30 minutes later it stopped working again. I don't know what's causing it to stop working, it seems like the modem is resetting and then I have to do what I described above. And then after that it shortened to about 5 minutes later.
My router is the LevelOne WBR-6002.
The modem is a Cisco DPC3008.Here's the Cisco page:

How to reset my WRT120N Router, It was originally set up using a PC, I am now on a MAC but my husband has a PC Netbook. In our previous location, we were all able to access the internet without any trouble. I have tried going into the router various ways and have not been successful. I have a Westell Ultraline Series3 Verizon modem/ router. I no longer have Verizon, I now have Charter cable internet. Is it possible to use this modem with Charter? I have tried everything I know (which is not much). When connected to the Charter cable the light on the front indicates internet, but when I try to connect to the internet I don't have internet access. This happens when connected via wire or wireless.

I have charter cable coming tomorrow to install cable television and internet. I am using my own modem and router instead of renting one because they dont have any available to meet the install date?Should I just rent one from them and wait or should I just buy a different cable modem. I will be getting the Ultra cable package from charter that has speeds up to 100Mbps download and 5Mbps upload. I would say it is going to run around 60. I have a RCA DCM315 modem and a Linksys WRT54G v6 router with DD-WRT firmware. max up and down speed for the RCA DCM315 modem.

my dir-655 rev. A2 router won't connect to the new modem that Charter sent me. I had the scientific Atlanta model dpc2100r2 modem but Charter called and said that they have upgraded my speed for free from 18/2 to 30/4 and that I needed a new docsis 3.0 compatable modem in order to take full advantage of the speed upgrade. I received the modem and connected an activated it according to their instructions. The modem works fine when connected to the PC only but as soon as I connected to the dir 655 the link light went out on the modem and I lost my internet connection. The first step I took was to clone the mac address in Wan section of router. It still did not work. The next step was to turn the modem off, the router off and shutdown the PC. I waited until this morning to reconnect everything. I started the PC, then I started the modem and waited for it to stabilize and finally I restarted the router. I still had no connection. The status page of the router said that the cable was disconnected and that network was disconnected. There was no info to release so I clicked the renew button but nothing happened.

I am using a E2000 connected to a DSL modem via the internet port. My modem is able to connect at gigabit speed but it doesn't seem to be the case with the E2000. All other ports are running at gigabit speed without problem. Is there any parameter that can be modified or is it a router limit?

I used the CD to set up my new EA3500 with my Wild Blue Satellite internet modem.An IPhone or IPad can connect and work like a charm, remaining rock solid at all times. Windows 7 on the other hand, will work and then lose connection to the internet. The PC appears to remain connected to the EA3500, but the connection between the EA3500 and modem appear to be lost. I can click on the bar Icon at the bottom and it shows everything to be fine. I click on disconnect and then wait a few seconds and click on connect again and it works for a few minutes before having to do it again. When I look at the router properties the CD set it up for DHCP.

We have a E3200 wireless router but our only connection is wireless. There is no Ethernet connection or cable modem. Presently I am unable to bring up the web page ie...10.100.x.x for entering the id/pw to login. Router is setup with default settings. Is there a setting that needs to be changed from the setup menu or this type of setup will not work with this router.

Comcast had us unplug our modem in order to upgrade to their new faster speed. now our wireless router won't work. We've reset the router twice. we can set up the wireless network but we cannot connect to it. The connection last for about 5 minutes and then we get an error, cannot read IP address. Comcast says it is not their problem and linksys says they can't assist either.

I have rather huge connection at home. DL speed 80Mb, UL speed 3Mb.When I connect my PC directly to modem and configure PPPoE connection, I get 81Mbits/sec. When I connect my old ASMAX $30 router, I get 78 Mbit/sek. And I find it OK.But when I connect my EA6500 I get 28 MBits/sec. Same result on wire as on wireless connection. Of course If I enable prioritisation, I get even less, 12-15 Mbits/sec.I tried already even configuration with ASMAX as wired router and EA6500 connected to its LAN port. It gives me 50Mbits/sec.

I can connect to the internet just fine if I run my modem straight to my computer. If I try to run it through my router, however, I can't get a connection. The internet light on the router does not light up and shows no signs of connection. The DHCP renewal doesn't do anything, either. I have power cycled many, many times and reset the router to factory settings as well. I have tried cloning the mac address to match the computer and done all that I can (as far as my knowledge reaches). The tech support 'warranty' is also outdated, so there are no other options except for paying a ridiculous amount of money to talk to somebody.I just got a new modem yesterday and that is when it stopped working through the router. This problem occurs with two different routers (both of which worked previously) so I don't think anything is faulty.The modem is an ARRIS TM602G and the router is a Linksys WRT54G v.3

So I just got hooked up to the internet via qwest the other day with my room mate. We have a wireless modem (PK5000) and he's using the AE2500 usb adapter to get online. Now, he can get online, but if he ever turns off or sleeps his computer, he can't connect when he turns it back on. His computer can see the network, full signal, but when he tries to connect it says cannot connect and under troubleshoot options suggests we should move his computer closer to the modem, but its only about 20 feet away and shows full signal. To get it to work, we need to go into the modem config and reset the wireless options. No changes are made, just scroll to the bottom and click apply, and presto change he can connect with no problems.He's running windows 7 home edition 64 bit. The modem's security is WPA/WPA2.

I've bought a "WAG160N v1.0 Annex A" almost 2 years ago. I never used it's wireless feature untill we moved our house. Now it's like 4 month I'm using its wifi feature and I've got to admit I'm really frustrated by its functionality!
For months the modem just dropped wireless connection constantly in various time periods. Somtimes it went like 2 days without any problem but some other times I had to change channel every 15 minutes for it to get back working. And yes it didn't get fix until I changed the channel, otherwise clients had to wait several hours for a 50/50 chance of reconnection. Now It's two days the changing channel trick no longer works. I tried all channels and even put my notebook next to the modem but no luck. The notebook sometimes connnects to the access point but disconnects after a few seconds. Somtimes it doesnt even detect the SSID of my WAG160N modem. Some friends suggested that the wireless hardware of my modem is broken and no longer works but I'm eager to know if it is broken why is it still broadcasting and sending signal.
I've tried everything from upgrading and downgrading firmware to turning on and off the modem several times and changes modem position. And even tried the G-only 20MHz mode.We are at a very crowdy place. Using inSSIDer I could pick about 15 other access points. Just purchased a Belkin N600 DB N+ Wireless Router because the wireless on my Actiontec PK5000 really isn't so great. When I hook up the router to my modem and after running the install CD I couldn't get connected to the internet. So I looked at my modem and noticed the light where I had plugged in my router VIA ethernet wasn't lit up like the rest of my ethernet ports even after switching them around.

Wireless Router - DI-514,Modem - Westell 6100, Every time I refresh the 'View available Network settings' My Connection name pops up with other connections but then disappears after I refresh again and others as well disappear, but some stay. Right now I'm using the the wire the blue wire that connects me to the internet.

Immediately after a power outage, my internet connection predictably drops after a set period of time or usage. It is either after about 30 min or 5-15 mins of watching Netflix. I have a modem hooked up to a wireless router and use the network on my iPhone, laptop and Roku. Since the problem, I have dropped to just having my laptop connected but this has not worked. The wireless network will disappear after the 5 - 20 mins, the light on the modem and router will show no internet (all other lights are normal). Internet connection will be reestablished if I either unplug both the modem and the router (not just one or the other) OR if I unplug the ethernet line from the modem to the router and plug it directly into my laptop (the internet light on the modem will go from "off" to "on"). Despite internet connection working from transferring from the router to the laptop if I connect it back to the router, the internet lights goes off again (resolves upon unplugging and plugging modem and router back in). The internet has not yet dropped when it is physically plugged into my laptop.
I have tried the following:
-Powercycling (temp fix until it crashes again)
-Plugging into a different outlet (I cannot connect it to a different phone line, only have 1 with DSL. Also, I do not have phone service or cable, just internet via DSL)
-Resetting modem
-Resetting 2 different routers
-Calling ISP, their test of the modem was inconclusive
Again, my wifi does not see my network whenever the internet is dropped or the ethernet cord is unplugged from the modem. The outlets I have it plugged into has some type of electrical issue, two electrical devices have shorted out in the room they are in. I do not think this issue is electrical, everything seems to have constant power (unless the power outage shorted out something in the modem). Below are some details of my modem and router. I will provide any additional info requested. I will gladly buy a new modem but I want to see if it can be fixed first.

I tried restarting the router and the computer, but to no avail. I've also tried with another ethernet cable and tried several ports, but that did not work, either. What is interesting is that other computers in the household connect to the router via wire without problems. I suppose that means something's wrong with my computer, however, I do not know what. I have a netgear router which says "N300 Wireless ADSL2+ Modem Router DGN2200v3" on the back. My computer has Windows 7 Home Premium installed. I'm using a DSL connection, and Avast! antivirus.

Service provider is Charter, modem is a Motorola SURFboard Gateway SBG6580 that I bought on my own. We're new to cable internet service, having had slow but reliable DSL up until now.Periodically (3-5 times a day, at least), our internet connection drops. When this happens, the power and wireless lights are on, all other lights are out. The only solution is to unplug, count to 10, and replug the modem. This works, until it happens again.Yesterday, I finally broke down and called Charter after listening to my family complain about how we had traded our "great" DSL service for this "crappy" service (even though the speed difference is supposed to be something like 60x. Lately I encountered random Internet connection issues?My router is a Netgear Wireless ADSL Firewall Modem Router DG834 (Firmware V1.05.0) and my ISP, isn't the most reliable regarding bandwidth... All clients (max 3 at the same time) connect wireless.The problem is that the last few weeks my connections is very unstable, all clients lose the internet connection until you restart the router manually.I can't even connect to the webinterface (192.168.0.1), during the downtimes.

I have an EA6500 which obviously has 4 Gigabit ethernet ports for my home network, but I need a DSL modem to get it working.What's the maximum speed current modems can supply from the Internet to my router, is there such a thing as a Gigabit capable DSL modem these days or am I dreaming ? Is it possible to even get Gigabit dowload speeds via DSL or would I have to go cable to achieve something like that ?My main concern is I don't want to buy a modem that will slow down or 'throttle' the capabilities of the new router I've just purchased or have I got the wrong idea ?

Just swapped to an ActionTec modem with a very nice GUI on it. I would like to be able to access the GUI from any computer on my network. The modem is in bridge mode, with it's DHCP server turned off. My e4200v2 has a base address of 192.168.1.1, is running DHCP and NAT is enabled. The modem is attached to the WAN port.I would like to enter a static route to get to the router, but I keep getting "invalid static route".

I have a double Nat problem with my modem acting as a router while it is connected to my router. This is a problem for me because I like to game online and a double Nat makes this difficult. I know the process of setting my modem in bridge mode but I have a few questions before I do so.
1. If I bridge my modem will this cause me to lose connection, if so then how do I get myself back online?
2. While bridging the modem does my router have to be set to any type of special configuration, if so then what do I do?
My router is a Linksys EA2700 and my modem is a Sagemcom 4300.

I have a wireless modem/router combo right now provided to me by Centrylink, its the Q1000. I am trying to hook up a 2nd router to our network to extend range and allow extra ethernet connections points. The new (2nd) Router is a Linksys E1200. I have been told by multiple sources it should be possible to hook the Linksy's router to the modem/router, but I am still not sure how to. All of the directions I have read involve disconnecting the old router (in my case, the Q1000) and then connecting the new router (E1200) in order to configure it. But I am not sure how to do this with out the internet access provided by the old router. how to cascade like this while using a modem/router

I just figured out how to bridge my modem, it was working perfectly. I was walked through by my ISP. I have an old Speedstream 5100 modem hooked to my e2500 router. Everything works well except if for some reason my modem disconnects from ISP I can not log into it through the route to reconnect it. I must plug a direct cable into modem from computer run connect script then plug modem back into router all is fine again.
why connecting to modem through router is blocked?
