my new dlink router 655 was working great when I hooked it up to my desktop computer that was running vista windows and my hp notebook that runs windows 7 ultimate was working just fine too, but when I downloaded windows 7 ultimate to my desktop I lost my internet connection. after resetting it I got it back and I thought everything was fine, but now I have to reset it every few hours.
View 2 RepliesRecently, whenever I download something my internet will just crash for a second, I think it may be realted to my router because the internet light on my router changes from the connected state (solid blue) to the connecting state (flashing orange) at the same time. The router I use is a belkin router and I have access to its gateway using my internet browser. recently reformatted my c drive to fix a bsod on this pc, before this reformat this problem did not exist.

I have been traveling all over Germany and automatically detecting internet wherever I go however I cannot detect the dlink wireless access point directly across from me. My work computer is detecting and connecting just fine. I see other wireless networks just not the one I have a password for so I cannot connect. I have reset and seperately restarted the wireless access point but no luck. I am in desperate need of this wireless access. There is no line I can plug into manually either. I have also tried to manually set up the network and that either did not work or I did not go about it correctly.

I have it configured with a Realtek wireless card and was able to connect it to my office wireless network without a problem.But, when I try to set it up at home, it won't take. The icon in the lower right corner says dlink is connected and there is strong signal strength. However, when I check the dlink status, it shows that 2,573 "packets" are sent, while "0" are received.I've tried to connect to the internet using Mozilla, Safari, and Explorer. Each says the server cannot be found and that the internet is not connected.

This summer the IT department at my location rolled out a little more than 100 AIR-CAP3502I-A-K9's to much success. We have had an issue with only one AP. This paticular AP must have gotten unplugged during the updating process after the initial conneciton to the controller was made as the LED currently blinks red-blue-red, indicating an error in the flash memory according to the manual.

View 7 Replies View RelatedMy roommate and I recently got a WRT120N to replace an older Linksys router that was exhibiting the same problems with less frequency. Indeed, the entire reason we got the new router was to fix these problems. Alas, they have become worse.Anyways, what's happening is that the router constantly resets itself. It does this every 20 minutes to an hour and doesn't seem to be related to how much traffic it's dealing with.It's not just the internet going down, it's the entire network, and not even just the wireless part. My computer has a wired connection to the router and, and I get told "A network cable has been unplugged" every time it happens. Then, if I look down at the router, I see no flashing lights, just the steady glow of the power light. It always fixes itself after 10-15 seconds, but it's very annoying. Certainly, playing games online or having a conversation on Skype is made more difficult.As previously mentioned, we replaced our older router because it was exhibiting the same behavior, but the new one does it with greater frequency. At the very least, the router does reset itself instead of needing us to cycle the power. The setup was slightly different with the old router: I was using a wireless connection with a WMP54Gv4 which I've had to disable since it bluescreens the moment it so much as sniffs a signal from the WRT120N?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have bought a DIR 615 router one week ago and although my main goal was to use it at better wireless speeds (using the N feature) it turned out that I can only use it as a normal router. The hardware version is H1 and the software ver is 8.0.
The problem is that whenever I turn on the wireless with default configuration, the router immediately starts resetting by itself over and over again. Sometimes it doesn't reconnect, but as soon as I try to connect to it using one of my laptops, it immediately starts restarting. After it starts the continuous resetting, it is very hard to reset its settings using the hardware reset button, because I don't even have time to press it for 10 seconds. If the wireless is turned off, everything works.
This router is resetting to default(erase router name and passwords and resetting router login to default. only thing i see is my sons has a iphone that will use the wifi and i have set parental restriction on it during certian hours. This past 3 time it has reset in 2 weeks his phone with the parental restricions are common. one other thing is i use the app on my droid to check settings on the router .
so th ecommon points here are one one using wifi threw router and has restrictions on it and outer is me with the linksys app to log into my rrouter and make a change like yuring on parental controls on..
but what happens is the router will reboot and renames itself to cisc05179 and cleared all protection and sets router to unsecured.
Turns out one of the relatives changed the router name and password, and in a fit of brilliance, forgot to WRITE THE NEW USERNAME/PASSWORD DOWN!So I typed in 192.168.1.1 and tried literally every combination I know. NOTHING works tried rebooting the WRT120N. I tried both holding the reset button in, as well as holding the reset button in along with pulling the power adapter cord. Neither of these achieved the desired result (which would be the resetting of the factory username and password to "admin/admin".

View 1 Replies View RelatedIf I enable both radio interfaces on new 892W with integrated access-point 801 the radio interfaces are reseting every 30 seconds. I have already tried different IOS version 12.x and 15.x on the router and the integrated ap. Also tried a a configuration from another 892W, which is working fine on the other router. Still same issue. If I disable one of the interfaces, doesn't matter which, the access point ist working fine.With both enabled log of the ap shows:

This router keeps dropping all connections under a load of about 30 devices. everyone will lose internet access for a few minutes until it comes back. All settings are correct.This doesn't happen unless around 20-30 users are actively using their connections, both wired and wireless.

I have two 1252ag wireless access points running in lightweight mode, and connected to a 2006 wlc. They were both running fine until this morning. One of the 1252s won't stop rebooting itself. I consoled in, and this was the output -

The only reference to it I found online was a very vague "It's a hardware failure", but no further explanation.
My laptop has been unable to download anything via my wireless network. Whenever I attempt to download a steam game for example, it will start downloading and after 5-10 seconds the internet will drop out. The wireless connection is still maintained, but the internet is not available. It is fixed by cycling the router, however this is very painful as to download 100 mb of data, it may take 20-50 cycles.

I've reset my router a few times recently trying things i've read on forums from people with similar problems. The most recent thing i did was RESET the router -> connected modem/router/computer properly -> turned them all back on in the proper order -> check to see if websites would open. They didn't so i tried doing this, which was suggested...i plugged the router into the computer and enabled MAC address and then pressed the Clone MAC address button and saved....then I tturned everything off again and rebooted everything again in the proper order and still couldn't load any web pages. My modem and wireless were working fine for years...and then recently without me doing anything my modem kept dropping connection and the internet and dsl lights kept flashing and then going back solid....so i'd be connected for a few minutes and then they'd start flashing again over and over all the time. I finally called verizon and then had me fiddle around with stuff...followed all their directions...but ended up only being able to connect while directly connected to the modem. Even then, the modem was still losing connection and getting it back. (i was supposed to schedule a house call for a tech to check it out, never did) Over a couple weeks the connection ended up getting better on its own, so now it pretty much never drops out anymore. (almost) i've reset my modem, i've reset my router....i just still cant seem to get websites working with my modem and wireless router connected.
I have a WRT54G router Ver. 5 with firmware v. 1.02.5. This is the second time this has happened to me but the router reset itself to the factory defaults. I lost all my configurations. I'm saving the configuration this time but it will be annoying to keep having to reconfigure the router.

I have a shop and retail TP products.I have had in the past 2 days three TD-W8961ND's returned due to internet issues.upon investigation the problem is the same in that DHCP is not enabled on each of the 4x ports.It is the same across 3 customers and occurred last week end.
Access points 1142 controller 5508 running code 6.0.196.0 When you set the access point port speed with "config ap duplex full speed 1000 all" the access points leave the controlle and do not rejoin. I have had to reset the the access points manually with a power down and hold the reset button.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI have been having a few problems with my IBM T42 Laptop for a while now. I was originally running Windows XP on this system and about 12 months ago I installed Ubuntu 9 on it to mess around a bit with the OS and have a basic, non-Microsoft laptop in the house that I could use for browing the web and IM, etc... The laptop needed a clean install anway as Windows XP was running like a dog. Originally it was dual boot but once I got happy with Ubuntu I did a clean install and everything worked reasonably well. I had a few issues with the wireless LAN adapter and compatibilty, but sorted it out following a few forums (firware updates, driver updates) and everything was great. I upgraded to the Ubuntu 10.04 OS and then started having some issues. Essentially my browser would freeze randomly. Again, I visted the forums and had no joy in sorting out the problem. I reverted the OS back to Ubuntu 9 and the problem persisted. So I gave up on it totally around 6 months ago.
Last week I fired up the laptop again and decided I would use the IBM restore utility and the disks I created a couple of years ago to put on a clean install of Windows XP and see how things went. So far I have done all the Windows XP updates (SP3, etc...), I have been to the Lenovo website and updated all drivers, firmware, BIOS, etc... every little problem I have had has been sorted with a software or firmware update which I have successfully implemented. All niggles have been sorted bar one.The only problem I have left now is very odd. Everything works fine and at reasonable speed considering the age and specs of my system. When I connect via cable to my router/modem all network and internet services work fine. I have had no issues. But when I connect via wireless, intermittently my system will completely freeze - no errors, no logs - nothing. No sounds, just frozen screen. Hard reboot is the only thing that I can do to get back online.Further investigating the issue - the freezing occurs when I click on a link to download something. I can browse anything - I have tried videos (youtube) and have no problems at all - but if I click to download a file (software upgrade pack, pdf document, Qucktime player) the system freezes up and ONLY when connected wirelessly via the inbuilt Cisco Wireless LAN adapter.
