Wireless Not Working After Downloading Antivirus Software?
Sep 26, 2011
Pretty much immediately after that I was unable to connect to internet via wireless but could still connect via ethernet cable. I have tried searching the internet and my computer to see if I could fix myself, as I'm sure there's probably just some settings somewhere that have been altered - but I'm completely bamboozled!! One thing that I noticed when trying search for settings etc is that I cannot add any wireless networks, or select my wireless network (in the network and sharing centre) so that I can select 'diagnose and repair' - my laptop just doesn't pick up anything!I have an eMachines E525 laptop with built in wireless (Atheros AR5007EG wireless network adapter) and operating system is Windows Vista Home Basic SP2.
Also, not sure if related, but on start-up I get an error message saying 'Microsoft Windows Search Indexer stopped working and was closed. A problem caused the application to stop working correctly. Windows will notify you if a solution is availablenyway, I have done the wireless test that I found in of the older posts on this topic already and results are below, my wireless network is highlighted
I lent my laptop to a friend for a week, have it back but now Windows security center won't start along with firewall and defender and my Mcfee won't open either... I try to look on line but any web pages to do with anti virus software won't open?
I'm having an issue with McAfee Antivirus remediation. I'm using Cisco NAC 4.8.2 and it seems that automatic remediation is not working. Is there a webpage where we can check which AV can do automatic remediation?
I am having some trouble with the antivirus software.I had AVG antivirus installed but I thought it was causing some problems. So I unistalled it and downloaded a trial version of Bitdefender.Got it installed and found out I can't browse the web via Firefox. So I was trying to go through all the settings in Bitdef. but no luck.Uninstalled BD, rebooted the comp, still no internet. I did clean the registry and spyware as well. But the weird bit is that somehow I can browse the internet using old IE8 (64bit only. 32bit is not working?).I was also trying to re-install AVG but it could not complete as the connection with their server was blocked. It seems like something is blocking everything apart from 64bit ver. of IE8.
My laptop has been unable to download anything via my wireless network. Whenever I attempt to download a steam game for example, it will start downloading and after 5-10 seconds the internet will drop out. The wireless connection is still maintained, but the internet is not available. It is fixed by cycling the router, however this is very painful as to download 100 mb of data, it may take 20-50 cycles.
my new dlink router 655 was working great when I hooked it up to my desktop computer that was running vista windows and my hp notebook that runs windows 7 ultimate was working just fine too, but when I downloaded windows 7 ultimate to my desktop I lost my internet connection. after resetting it I got it back and I thought everything was fine, but now I have to reset it every few hours.
I have been having a few problems with my IBM T42 Laptop for a while now. I was originally running Windows XP on this system and about 12 months ago I installed Ubuntu 9 on it to mess around a bit with the OS and have a basic, non-Microsoft laptop in the house that I could use for browing the web and IM, etc... The laptop needed a clean install anway as Windows XP was running like a dog. Originally it was dual boot but once I got happy with Ubuntu I did a clean install and everything worked reasonably well. I had a few issues with the wireless LAN adapter and compatibilty, but sorted it out following a few forums (firware updates, driver updates) and everything was great. I upgraded to the Ubuntu 10.04 OS and then started having some issues. Essentially my browser would freeze randomly. Again, I visted the forums and had no joy in sorting out the problem. I reverted the OS back to Ubuntu 9 and the problem persisted. So I gave up on it totally around 6 months ago.
Last week I fired up the laptop again and decided I would use the IBM restore utility and the disks I created a couple of years ago to put on a clean install of Windows XP and see how things went. So far I have done all the Windows XP updates (SP3, etc...), I have been to the Lenovo website and updated all drivers, firmware, BIOS, etc... every little problem I have had has been sorted with a software or firmware update which I have successfully implemented. All niggles have been sorted bar one.The only problem I have left now is very odd. Everything works fine and at reasonable speed considering the age and specs of my system. When I connect via cable to my router/modem all network and internet services work fine. I have had no issues. But when I connect via wireless, intermittently my system will completely freeze - no errors, no logs - nothing. No sounds, just frozen screen. Hard reboot is the only thing that I can do to get back online.Further investigating the issue - the freezing occurs when I click on a link to download something. I can browse anything - I have tried videos (youtube) and have no problems at all - but if I click to download a file (software upgrade pack, pdf document, Qucktime player) the system freezes up and ONLY when connected wirelessly via the inbuilt Cisco Wireless LAN adapter. My problem is that whenever I leave a torrent downloading for a few hours (using a wireless connection), my internet connection drops, both wired and wireless. I have to power cycle the modem and router to get things working again. When I plug my computer in with an ethernet cord and leave a torrent downloading, the connection doesn't drop.
I am getting 50% downloading speed when I connect through wireless router (Tp-link wr740N) but the browsing speed is ok and speedtest, net also giving good result only download speed is slow. When I connect directly from modem, I get 100% speed but when I connect wirelessly through router I get 50% downloading speed.
I'm trying to "resurect" an old wireless network made with Cisco Aironet 1100. One of the AP has lost its IOS (due to an error while trying to upgrade it through the web interface)
I tried to reload it with the "mode button". I can see in my TFTP server logs that the AP is downloading the IOS but nothing happens and the AP keep being stuck (leds are : red/green/red)
I've some troubles connecting my PS3 to my RV120W.Both router and PS3 have latest firmwares. They are connected wireless (distance is about 10 mt, signal is good).PS3 ip is in DMZ (connection doesn't work with only Upnp), and ip fragmentation is enabled.Everything seems to work (NAT type 2), but downloading on PS3 is extremely slow. My ADSL is a 6Mb, download speed on PS3 seems like more than ten times lower (I don't know how to test it..). Plus, downloading a 100 MB patch is almost impossile, cause sooner or later I get an error and i have to restart. Two of my PCs are connected wireless, so I guess wi-fi is not the problem.
Our newly installed WAP's are constantly downloading code and seem to lose contact with our wism 1 version 7.0.235.3, causing them to restart the downloading process, over and over.
On the WLC I've set DHCP address pool, everything seems fine after ap download image -> reboot -> hit "Enter" to start blar blar blar... however, after a few second the WLC will initial upgrade image again and again. it's like a non-stop process.
Attached is the start up message, as you can see, i captured it after the ap successfully boot up, and WLC initial another cycle of image upgrade.
btw, my network is flat, WLC & AP all in the same network.

I have a problem with this router TL-WR1043ND (i have the latest firmware version), when i try to download torrents on wireless the wireless signal crashes after a few minutes.. in order for the wireless to work again the rooter needs a reboot. The other PC, that is connected via the cable
I set up the e1500 and everything worked well, my download speed over the wifi was something like 50mps, now its down to .3 mps over the wifi. When I'm hardwired to the router the speed goes back up and everything is fine. The only problem is the wifi. Its not the ISP because my roommates aren't having a problem with their wifi at all. I haven't changed anything on my computer except updated some drivers since I set up the router. My network card drivers are up to date and so is the router's drivers. I'm also doing all this about 5 feet away from the router.
-E4200 connected via Ethernet cable (100Mbs) to local ISP for internet access -E4200 connected via Ethernet cable (1Gps) to my desktop PC -E4200 connected via wireless (5Ghz with WPA2 personal) to my laptop
In general, everything works fine, I can download files from internet to my PC close to the maximum speed limit (80-90Mbs), the wireless connection goes up to 300Mbs and it can achieve around 10-14MB/s file transfer between PC and laptop.A lot of the time the wireless connection to my laptop is used for HD content streaming from the desktop PC. It works very well until I start downloading files to my PC with speed greater than 50Mbs, when the wireless connection speed drops very fast to about 500KB/s which results in interruptions on the video streaming. At the same time the router’s web interface reacts much slower than usual, as if the router’s CPU is overloaded.
I’ve read this follow up review on Small net builder url...and it’s clear that there are some issues when taking E4200 to the limit, but in my case it’s nowhere near that.
I did an upgrade to my firmware on the x2000 dsl router and now i cannot download apps with my android phone, i have tried everything that i can think of.
I'm having an issue with my laptop. Although, from my provider, it should be possible to establish a connection at 25'000 kbit/s (download), max speed is at about 800 kbit/s. I'm only about 20 feet away from where the router is located and I don't use any phones (except for a cell phone). I read on this board, that I might have to change the wireless settings on the router and change the radio band but didn't manage to do so. I'm using Mac osx and a wireless connection.
i have a little annoying problem with my E4200. V1 with the latest 04 fw. It seems, that after many hours of downloading at full speed (only one torrent at a time) the speed goes down, and up again, and becoming unstable. My max download speed is 1.5 Mb/s, and it can drop from that, to 50 kb/s, and then up again. and i have no internet access when that happens, but it only last 10-20 seconds and then its back again. Sometimes i get that yellow warning sign on the taskbar which says "No Internet Access" but not always.
Seems like its happening after many hours of downloading at full speed. im on the latest firmware, have tried different channels, 20 Mhz only on Channel Width, different names on the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz channels.. i use the 2.4Ghz channel btw. Otherwise its stable, and i have had no problems while gaming online.
I have the latest firmware, have the settings correct (the UPnP is disabled and whatever)

Went out of town 2 weeks in March, and all through April didn't have any disconnects. Have had this problem since I got it, it gets really bad from time to time (like now). Thought it was my provider for the longest time, but found out if I connect via wired, no disconnects! Is re-flash simply downloading and installing firmware?
I use in my network Linksys 4200v1 (newest firmware) and Sipura SPA 3000 ( 3.1.20(GW)firmware) and SPA 122 (1.1.0(011) software version as my phone adapters. My voip phones are working great until I start to download or upload some files, watching on-line tv.How and where should I set up above routers to have the same great quality voip while uploading and downloading at the same time?
So I am downloading a game off of steam and getting like 100-200kb/s. I went to speedtest.com and it said I have a download speed of 11.72mb/s. What could be causing me to get such a low download speed off of steam?
my internet will cut out randomly wheneveer i am downloading something, and the only way to get my internet back is when i unplug / plug back in my ethernet cable, or restart the computer. Also whenever i do this once, it will randomly disconnect when im not downloading every hour or so and i will have to either disconnect / reconnect my ethernet, or if i restart my PC it will fix it for like 4-5 days if i didnt download anything at all or sometime during a download if i did download something. Also it is only my PC that does this, i can download from my laptop / xbox fine and if my PC is disconnected i still have internet from my modem / router, just not the PC. I am guessing this has something to do with my motherboard. i am using windows 7?
I have a Dell Latitude D530 - I am only able to,download at a speed of 2.95 while I can upload at nearly 7,My PC that is attached to the same provider will, download at 7.84 and upload at 7.96.
I have a fresh installation of Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit,and whenever I try to download ANYTHING from any website, the download always stops at about 2Mb, as if IE just wont allow anything over 2mb to be downloaded.Nothing wrong with my connection (just a bit slow, compared to the rest of the world), and I have no anti-virus running or other protection software.
I got new internet connection some days back (like 3-5 days ago), and since then, when I try download at night time when I'm sleeping, my internet disconnects me? I'm downloading with JDownloader by the way. I didn't get "new" internet, well.. I basically did, but yeah... This is how I got "new" internet.I used to have same ISP, but it was 24mb internet, and gave just 12mb to be honest, so I got 100mb instead. But since I got this 100mb internet connection, it disconnects me at night time, I don't know why. I've tryed to lock my PC as I download, I've tryed to keep completely on the whole PC, but still no. Always disconnected when I wake up.
Is there something I could do about it? When I had the old 24mb internet, it didn't disconnect me really... never. Just once in a while, like once in month or something but that ain't much. Is there something I could do?My download speed, it should give me 8-12mb/s (I'm not sure though), and I can't do speedtest.net thing right now because I'm downloading at daytime then instead of night time, because I can't download at night time... But yeah, my download keeps jumping from 500kb/s to 12MB/s (12 mb/s is more true than 500kb/s), shouldn't it give me the full speed all the time? Or keep it above 6mb/s anyways? Not like 500kb/s - 5mb/s that it usually is. There's just 1 LAPTOP (I'm using wires, PC you know) connected on this very same internet too, but it's wireless. It keeps jumping, either somebody uses the laptop or not, it doesn't matter
whenever I start downloading any large file I start getting DNS lookup errors from Chrome. I can still download the file and even connect using TeamViewer so I am still connected to the internet is some fashion. My roomate is connected to the same network wirelessly and has not had the issue yet. I am currently connect directly to the router which a Belkin.
