Prevent Neighbour From Using Wifi?
Sep 2, 2011I have high speed wifi at home and the wifi is WPA-PSK protected. My neighbour will be coming to my home to work with me and I will be keying my wifi password into his Windows XP laptop for him to access my wifi.
This is one time access only, after that he is not allowed to access my wifi. To prevent him from accessing my wifi, I will have to delete the password that I keyed into his laptop.
Where do I find this wifi password in the Windows XP? What folder and what filename?
Wireless Internet Stop Working?
Jun 27, 2011Yesterday my wireless internet just appeared to stop working completely, it has always worked fine up unti now!I have checked all the usual issues, it is nothing to do with my router as i can use other laptops/desktops to access the internet fine.I am using a Pavillion DV6-1215sa which has a Atheros AR9285 802.11b/g WiFi Adapter.It has full strenght but just says Limited Connectivity, so it is picking up the wireless network but wont actually let me connect to the internet via it.
I am able to access the internet when i hard wire the ethernet cable into my laptop, but the just wont work for wireless.I have tried lots of different suggestions so far, but still cannot access the internet.

We configured BGP in the router and the link is not stable. i checked in the router after every 3 minutes bgp session is resetted.

Mar 2, 2012I have a problem where I have 3845 router and c3845-advsecurityk9-mz.124-24.T5.bin dis is the IOS running on it and there's a back up BRI interface for the serial. Now if my serial link goes it normally goes to my BRI, once we had a time where the BRI was also down and when we restored back the Serial link we were still not able to reach the other side. We are using OSPF routing to reach the destination. When this happens and when we reboot this router we are able to reach the destination. sometimes we are able to reach it when we remove ospf and use static and now if we put back the ospf routing the link comes back, this happens again and again.

Apr 25, 2009So I just got this new WRT160Nv2 router. I have (1) wired computer and then my laptop running wireless to it. For the first couple days I had some issues getting consistant internet but after reading some stuff on here I downgraded to the version 8 hardware and it worked GREAT for about 3 days. Now my power light won't stop flashing and I have NO internet connection at all through the router. I have tried to reset the router by holding down the button and also unpluging it but still nothing.

May 19, 2011When I browse or surf the internet with my computer, it causes the router to stop working on all devices connected to it. This includes my laptops, iphone, ps3 and other desktop. However, if I or anyone else connected to the router had a stream running on youtube, a file that is downloading, a game running online or voicechat with ventrillo, nothing happens to those processes. I just can't start a new download, or open a new tab, or start anything that requires internet connection.I've tried using different browsers, I've tried updating my computer, using different ports both on my computer and the router, shutting off all my firewalls, factory resetting my router and nothing works.I've narrowed the problem down to an issue with my computer as this would never happen to any other or device. This problem ONLY happens when I surf the web or view/open websites.The only way I can fix the problem is by walking up to my router and restarting the router (the router only) and waiting a minute for my computer to reconnect.I've noticed that the router stops working when I go to sites or links that have on screen popups of flash or java. When I check my network connection after the internet stops working, the rate of packets received becomes dramatically reduced.

I have 3 computers, 1 printer, a laptop and an xbox all setup on a NetGear N300 Router. the 3 computers and xbox are directly connected to the router. the printer and laptop are wireless.The Road Runner Modem is a CISCO Cable Modem DPC2100R2. Now when this random STOP happens... on programs like Teamspeak peoples voices cut out but then quickly catch up with themselves. On Black Ops PC and Xbox everyone freezes for a few seconds then catch up to themselves and I'll get a connection interrupted. I'd be asking friends around me to see if they got that "Connection Interrupted" and they say no. On Rock Band 3 I get randomly disconnected from the game with everyone asking what happened...When this STOP happens... my computer doesn't give me any error message like "Local Area Connection is unplugged" or anything like that. I've tried checking my CISCO modem's log and it shows no problems.Last week I swapped out the Road Runner Modem at their swap shops to see if that was the problem. Obviously it isn't. The Router I had before the NetGear did the same exact thing except it was a westell...I've tried directly connecting the modem to the computer and trying that to see if there was some kind of miscommunication between the router and the modem... same thing.

Jul 22, 2011I have the DIR-655 Hardware version B1, Firmware version 2.00NA and everything has been working fine for about 3 months. Lately the internet connection to all the computers would just stop. All the computers are connected to the router and the router is connected to the cable modem and their is no indication of a problem. The lights are all on and the router status shows the cable status as connected and the network status as established. I can't open any webpages, or all the ping would time out. It happens on all device, Windows Vista/7 PC, Mac computer, Linux laptop, and iPhone/ iPad. The problem gets fixed when I reset the router or just wait about 5-10 minutes and the problem goes away. That normally isn't a problem, but it's starting to happen twice a day now and it is really really annoying when I'm playing games. I tried the FAQ and searching the forums, but in vain.

Apr 14, 2013Yesterday I was on my cousin's computer, and we had to remove the ethernet cord to connect it to mine as my wireless adapter wasn't cooperating with his internet. This was all fine and dandy until we had to plug the ethernet cord back into his computer. It locks everything up. If you try to open a program, it won't open. If a program is already open when the cord is plugged in, it stops responding within 15 seconds.I called my brother, and he suggested I run a virus scan via Microsoft Security Essentials and MalwareBytes, which I did. MalwareBytes found 5 problems, MSE found 1 additional one. They have all been removed, however this problem still persists. If you try to start the computer with the ethernet cord plugged in, it will allow him to put in his password, it will say welcome for about 3-5 minutes, then the screen will go black. The mouse is visible, doing it's motion to indicate that it's loading something, but it never achieves anything.

There is an icon on the lower right of my toolbar which, with my old modem, allowed me to connect and disconnect but it seems to know only about the old modem. Now this function does work; it tries to connect (through "WAN Miniport (PPPOE)") and gets "Error 651: The modem (or other connecting device) has reported an error". Can you tell me what where is the program that seems to start the Internet connection for the X2000 and if I can change parameters for the Win7 "Broadband Connection" to use the X2000? Perhaps the parameter "Connect on Demand" in the "Basic Setup" of the X2000 is involved?

Jan 21, 2011I recently switched from a DSL ISP (Earthlink, Zyxel modem configured as a bridge, pppoE connect) to a cable ISP (Comcast, Arris cable modem, dhcp connect). Basically PC --> DIR615-->Cable modem-->Internets. With the old DSL the Internet activity LED (green, looks triangular) on the DIR615 blinked only when internet activity occurred. With the new Comcast connection it blinks non-stop about 5 times a second! Even if the PC is turned off it blinks. It stops blinking if I disconnect the ethernet cable between router and modem. The connection itself is fine, but if the DIR615 is doing something it should not be doing it might slow the connection down a bit, (or burn something out prematurely?)FYI, the Arris cable modem does not seem to be a router. It takes a cable connection from outside and provides a single ethernet cable and 2 (voice) telephone cables to the house.

My brother use to have a desktop which he skyped 24/7 webcam and all, that didn't bother my gaming till he got a laptop. I played wow and my ping was 110 once he got started in a webcam session it would fly up to 1000+ in ping. PS3 would lag to s---.
