I have an old PC in my Buenos Aires apartment, connected to WiFi by means of a receiver module - because the modem is across the room and too far to connect by cable...But I get the message that the device would work more efficiently with a high-speed USB port...If I installed a high-speed card inside the computer, would this improe my Internet speed? It hangs up quite a bit... but then again, it's a Pentium III, so there's that limitation too.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a Bose Soundlink bluetooth speaker and have paired it with both my ipod touch and ThinkPad w500. The iPod Touch sounds great, but the audio coming through the speaker via the w500 sounds like it is clipping, especially at normal-loud listening levels. Both the soundlink and the w500 have the latest bluetooth driver updates installed. The clipping occurs even when the main volume (and iTunes/Spotify) is turned down to 50% power.whether there is a way to reduce the "power" of the bluetooth signal so it does not cause the speaker to distort. Audio played through the speaker via 3.5mm from the w500 sounds great even at high volume.
Currently installed bluetooth drivers:
Bluetooth Enumerator (Microsoft)
ThinkPad Bluetooth 2.1 with Enhanced Data Rate (Broadcom)
Bluetooth Hands-free Audio (Broadcom)
Bluetooth Remote Control (Broadcom)
I have to manually deactivate high definition audio unit and restart the computer everytime I want to listen through the bluetooth unit. I have just installed Windows 7 on my Dell Inspiron 9400. Running truemobile 355 bluetooth driver. When I ran Windows XP and wanted to listen through the bluetooth unit the "switching" went automaticaly.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a wireless router on the ground floor of my home which is wired to my PC on the 3rd floor. The wifi signal is of poor quality on the 3rd floor. I cannot move the router to a different floor since all of my connections are wired through the home into my networking room (on the ground floor where my router is). I wish to add a media receiver to a different room on the 3rd floor that is not wired already for networking. Streaming video files wirelessly to the media receiver from my router will not work because as stated previously the signal quality is poor on the 3rd floor. My mobo on my computer has ASUS wifi GO. Can I enable the wifi go on the mobo of my PC (located on 3rd floor) to connect to the media receiver (also on the 3rd floor) for streaming? The media receiver will also have an internet browser so will I be able to connect to the internet as well if it is networked to my PC and my PC is connected to my router on the ground floor?
I basically want to keep my PC connected to my main router for high DL speeds and also have my PC networked wirelessly to my media receiver using the on board wifi go. If possible I'd also like to be able to access the internet on the media receiver via the PC.
I am in a community that has a wifi system and the club house is about 900ft awayWhat king of a receiver would I need to reach and receive that signal?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to use a D-link WB-2310 wireless router to receive a wireless signal. Downstairs, connected to a cable modem (11MBPS), is an intel iMac running 10.4 that can send out its own wifi signal (internet sharing). Upstairs will be a PowerPC G5 Mac running 10.5 that has no wireless card...I was hoping I could use the router in place of a wireless adapter.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Mac, and my wife has a PC running Windows 7. Since we moved into our new house, our Dlink DIR-601 does not seem to want to send Wi-Fi to both computers at the same time. One of the computers always seems to lag or not have internet connection at all. The Mac also seems to work better and more often than the PC when both are trying to access wi-fi.
I have messed with the channel settings, security, and most other typical settings on the router to no avail. Is there a setting I'm missing or should I enable certain settings that will allow both computers to have the same signal strength and reliability.
I just upgraded from a WRTG 54 version 2 wireless router to the Linsksys E2500. The reason for the change is to send a stronger wireless signal strength further in my house. Setup was easy to my laptop and XBox 360 but my Samsung Internet TV is another story. I can get my tv to get the wireless signal but when I click on an app nothing but error messages. Often times it will say to check my dns settings but I am not that tech savvy and don't know what to do.

I'm positive I have it configured right (encap replicate) but wireshark just isn't seeing them. Im trying to capture them on a seperate NIC on my Windows 7 64bit pro box. The NIC is a realtek RTL8169 and it just won't capture the headers. I've also tried the built-in motherboard NIC (which is also a realtek) with the same results.

I contacted their support & tried some solutins, at last they asked me to run it in debug mode & send them the log file, i'm not sure how to do it but i googled, when i try any command from the cmd it gives me that it isn't recongnized as an internal or external command, operable program or patch file.

I have a site - site tunnel that is up and running between a Pix 515E and a 3050 appliance.Tunnel is up and running but on the pix side I dont see traffic from a couple of subnets behind the inside interface. On the vpnallow access list there are no hits So I setup a capture on the inside interface to see if the packets is making it to the inside interface and nothing. There is some traffic making it thru the tunnel that would have to hit the inside int first and even that doesnt showup in the capture.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIve just downloaded wireshark just to mess around and ive noticed that even when ive got nothing open its still capturing packets. It gives me a choice of interfaces i want to choose to monitor and i would of thought it be "Realtek PCIe Family Controller" as this is normally the default one (im using wireless) but its saying no packets are being captured from this interface its the "Microsoft" Interface thats capturing the packets. Ive attached a screenshot, i know this isnt nothing bad but was just wondering 1) why isnt my Realtek PCIe interface capturing anything (even when i have youtube open it doesnt capture anything) and 2) why is Microsoft capturing packets? what is this microsoft interface and why is it capturing packets when nothing is open.

I have configured SPAN session on 2960 switch, source port being a VLAN and destination being one of the fastethernet ports. All I see in the capture is control traffic (HSRP, RIP, Syslog, DNS..etc). However I dont see any real data traffic being captured. Below is how I have SPAN configured..
monitor session 1 source vlan <vlan_id> both
monitor session 1 destination interface fa0/42
I have configured Span port on our 4510. We have an application 5view server to monitor trafic connected to G9/17 Since we have changed the network connection from physical Giga port and add a Port-channel instead, we don't see any more trafic from the new Port-channel to G9/17
We have the configuration below on our 4510 :
monitor session 1 source interface Gi4/6
monitor session 1 source interface Po20
monitor session 1 filter vlan 311 - 312 , 375
monitor session 1 destination interface Gi9/17
From the commands show, we don't see the trafic duplication from the source to the destination port :
Port Source
4510-5567#sh int po20
Port-channel20 is up, line protocol is up (connected)
Hardware is EtherChannel, address is 0016.9de2.a818 (bia 0016.9de2.a818)

At present we are having a 4900 series switch where we are running one monitor session.Additionaly we are in need of capturing VLAN traffic and set the destination to 2 * GE ports , both are in the same switch.Due to the limitation of two monitor sessions per switch , we thought of putting the destination ports as port channel but it looks like it is not supported.

We are having issues transferring a 200GB VHD file across our point to point without being corrupted in the process. Any good application for testing the line quality across the point to point?Preferably we want something free, but if there is an in depth tool that costs money, we are open to that option as well.

Im curious to know if there is a way, to stream music to my iPad from a drive connected on my network? Either by USB to the router or a hard wired NAS. Im aware of programs like Streamtome but this requires a mini server running on a PC which is want i want to avoid!

I would like to make my audio MP3 stories and audio books available to the visually impaired and others who can no read for any number of reasons. I have already written and recorded the material in MP3 format.I find that virtually everywhere I look I must pay, or the upload limit is so small that a story of any size can not be uploaded. I have an Ipage web site and two blogger blogs where I could post the link for listeners to download the text. I do need to do it all for free, since I am on S.Security.
Stated differently; I want to offer my audio books and audio essays for free from my blogs or website. I can not seem to find who will store my recordings (large enough to actually be a book) for free. The site should be easy to navigate so impaired patrons can use it easily. I did find one, yourlisten.com, but the user has to agree to buy something from their advertisers before they can download my audio text. For the user, then, the service is not free.Does any one know who will store and share my audio text for free?
I work from a computer that can not install any software(locked out), but I want to record good quality audio (at least 192kps) from websites, I've spent along time googling for a website that would record the audio (audio from a different website, i.e. streaming radio, etc.) which I could then download to my USB stick. I just can't find a website that does this, but I think I'm just not using the right search words
