I want to set up a DLNA server (asus MB) to stream TV to my Sony Bravia (N based wifi) unit. I have a dir-655 (wonderful router) and am wondering if it will work to pass DLNA signals thru. It is hardware version A4 and firmware version 1.21... Will I need to upgrade the firmware? Can I get an HD signal?

It is picked by the XBox 360 over the wired network and also by other media streaming gadgets (o2 Jogglers) over the wireless network. What I am looking for is a gadget that would enable me to stream to a TV's HDMI input. It needs to be able to detect the mini DNLA server either wirelessly or via LAN and then connect to the TV's HDMI input. Does such a standalone gadget exist?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an NTFS formatted USB disk drive (Western Digital My Passport Essential Black 320 GB WDBAAA3200ABK) attached to the WRT160NL wireless router (Firmware Version 1.0.02), and I have video, picture and music files on the USB disk drive in three folders: Videos, Music, Pictures. Auto-scan is disabled, I scan the media files manually by clicking on the 'Scan All' button.
PROBLEM 1 The worst problem is that the router is very sensitive to files that can't be recognized by the router as media files. For example if there are subtitle files (*.str) between the media files, then strange and nondeterministic things happen: some valid media files are skipped and not included in the media database; some files included but the file names are mixed. The most irritating in the bug is that there is no log file, where you could find the problem, and so you never know which file cause the problem, and you have to browse through all the files hunting for the cause.
PROBLEM 2 When the router is in the process of scanning the media files, then the internet (WAN) connection often can't be used, although the router can be accessed and the status says it is connected to the internet.
I'm very disappointed with this EA4500 DLNA feature this is one of the main reasons why i got this router.My Sammy TV can detect the USB that is attached and is able to view the files in the drive but when you play any video file larger than 1gb it does not work even shuts down my TV.Only on smaller files does it work flawlessly I know its not the TV because I have played those files on my previous Router (Netgear WNDR3800) and they even work when i connect the hard drive directly to the TV has any one else had this issue happen to them?

The TV sees the media on the device and music plays fine. However, every movie I've tried shows up with an exclamation point and when I try to play it I get a message to the effect that "unable to open media". Is the EA4500 media server only compatible with certain movies?
dlna server of ea4500 does not supports time seeking? No rewind? I have tryed to plug usb-flash with video files for testing before buying an external HDD and... REALLY no time seeking?

I am trying to use the "My PLEX" feature of "PLEX" to stream my content to the internet and access it on a Nook or iPod from any internet hot spot. This requires that the router supports DLNA. I am not sure what this is and am not successful at this so far.
Although it may sound like I know what I'm talking about I am at my limit and do not know how to determine if my router will support DLNA.
Is it time to get a new router or is there something I need to do to the router so it supports DLNA?
I cannot see my synology NAS from my WDTV Live players (or PS3 or Samsung TV) when the NAS connected directly to one of the 4 GbE ports on the 655 using media server (DLNA) protocol. I've moved the NAS to another location on my network and not directly connected to the 655 and all the other media players see it except for the WD that's connected to one of the ports on the back of the 655. As a work-around, I have set the WD player that's connected to the 655 to use network shares instead of DLNA and this seems to work fine. So, there must be something that the 655 is doing wrt the DLNA protocal that is blocking communications.I have the 655 configured as an access point and have turned off DHCP and every other function that could be causing any issues. I've turned UPNP on and off to see if it resolves the problem, and although it seems to have some bearing on the problem, the issue persists. I also have a DIR-645 also configured as an access point (not connected to the 655) and have the synology NAS connected directly to it and it works just fine. All media players can see the NAS except for the one that's connected to the 655.I've been having this issue for some time now and have worked around it by moving the 655 so it wouldn't be an issue. However, I needed the wireless and gigabit switch capability upstairs and am battling this issue once again. I'd really like to keep the 655 and get this working, but it seems as the 655 is the culprit here.

View 2 Replies View RelatedCanon T3i hooked up to a laptop running ExtraWebcam and Yawcam.Yawcam running an HTML and Stream output to the network/web.I would like people to be able to access that video from the [the internet + network or internet or network] (those are the options/possibilities and the order in which I'd prefer).I am able to get people to access it via the network, but not the net. I'm using my Samsung Galaxy SIII on Sprint to tether (obviously not tethering if I'm only going to the network). Unfortunately, not only can I not access the stream via the internet, I can't even ping the phone.I'm pretty sure I need to open up/forward some ports, but I understand that that's not possible seeing as it's Sprint's network and not mine.
I will also have access to a local wifi network if there's a way to 'piggyback' off of that for web access to the stream even if I don't have access to the router control panel. I'm not sure if I'll have a hard wire connection to a router or not. I can, however, change the ports that the stream is set to.(also, I can bring a separate wireless router to connect to my tethered computer to open up the internet enabled stream to the network?)Given a laptop with a wifi card, a phone that can tether, a wifi network, and, if necessary, an extra wireless router, how can I stream from Yawcam and make it available to the internet if I DON'T have access to the wifi network's port forwarding? I have a 655 and two TVs. One is connected to my network by a Samsung 5700 Blu Ray player, and the other is connected by x box. The x box is 20 ft away from my router and the Blue Ray is about 60 away with one wall between. The x box pulls movies down and plays them no problem, and Blue Ray takes about a minute for loading the moving, will start playing but them pauses several times throughtout the movie showing the loading sign on screen.

I have tried resetting the router, ping the website and get "request timed out"The firmware is up to date version 2.25 I have tried other computers that access the same network and they also cant stream the audio.I have also turned off my windows 7 firewall with no luck I can access other sites I visit and stream audio just fine so I wonder if the router may be blocking something on this website?Is there a way to allow an audio stream to come through that may be blocked by the router?

I want to use the E4200 media server to stream divx and other video files on my Sharp Aquos HDTVs.I have an LC-70LE732U and a LC-52LE832U wired to my network. Both of them seem to discover and successfully connect to my media server however only MP3s and certain MPG files are detected. None of the AVI files show up.I have upgraded my E4200 firmware to 1.0.03 hoping that would fix the problem but it didn't. I don't want to run a Windows based media server as I don't have a computer that I can leave on all the time.

Everything else works (email, Google, Facebook, etc.). I can get to Netflix, Youtube, Yahoo, etc. .....but none of them will pass video.
Using a direct wired connection to the DAP-1522 everything works. Netflix, Youtube, etc.

I recently bought 3 DCS-920 to monitor my home while at the office. However I can't seem to get the damned things to stream video using the dyndns service. I linked my router to the dyndns account and host service. I portforward the ports my cameras are assigned. Up to this point its all good, I can access the cameras and their settings pages while outside. However both the Java and ActiveX options for video streaming do not work. Even within the network, using their raw IPs to view the cameras the videos stream works.But putting in the hostname and port they are assigned brings up the camera page, but no video.I can only assume the ports the video and audio run on are seperate, as when I put one camera's IP in the DMZ host on my router, it works with the DNS. Unforunately I can only do that with 1, and I'd rather not do that at all.

Indeed, I can readily see this reduction in mjpg clips made on my Canon S5is camera. It's not clear whether that is happening with the d-link DCS-930L camera (640x480, quality "high", java).

View 1 Replies View RelatedI think there is a bug in the DPC3825.I use UPnP media servers and renderers in my home network.For some reason both the client and server have to be on the same side of the wireless / wired bridge.If the client is on the wireless side then the server also has to be on the wireless side.If the client is on the wired side then the server has to be on the wired side.Having a bit of knowledeg of the UPnP protocol I suspect that UDP broadcasts are not traversing the wired / wireless bridge.thus breaking the SSDP protocol that is used by UPnP and DNLA systems.I have no control over the product that my ISP uses and they seem to have no control over what Cisco does with its 'issues'.
