Disable Internet Connection From LAN And Use An Air Card

Using Windows 7 how would I disable the internet portion of my lan connection and use an usb air card instead? I'll still need to access the network files and folders using the lan though.

I need to disable the Internet Connection to a specified computer, without removing any wires or plugs. I have 3 computers which are connected to a SpeedTouch 5x6 (0843BH3B7) and a wire which then connects the router to the modem. Now, I want to disable the Internet connection for one of the computers from the software of the router.

My PC is hardwired to a Comcast all in one Internet/Phone Modem/Wireless Router. I have installed new software on my Android Phone that can control my music recording software over Wi-Fi. Here is the rub: Recording software and the Internet don't play nicely together. They are in constant conflict for resources. I used to simply disable my network connection when working in my recording software. This obviously won't allow my phone to connect to my computer . Is there a way to disable my Internet connection yet remain connected to my network? I don't want to disable the entire networks Internet connection since there are other Internet users on the network.

How do I disable the power management feature that slows my NIC down when I am on battery power?
I have a dell e6500 with a Intel 82567LM Gigabit LAN card that always connects at 10Mbps when I plug in the ethernet cord when I am on battery power, I've tried using different routers (I have two gigabit routers and one 100 mbps router)... it still auto-negotiates at 10 mbps I've tried using different cat6 cables, it still auto-negotiates at 10 mbps.I've checked the drivers, I have 10.0.6.0, which is the latest from the support.dell.com website.
However, the minute I plug in the laptop, the NIC connects at the proper speed. Essentially, when the laptop is using battery power, the NIC decreases it's speed to 10 mbps. When I plug the laptop in, the speed jumps up to what it should be (either 100 mpbs or 1 Gbps, depending on which router I'm plugged in to).
So, how do I disable this feature? I want to connect at the maximum possible speed, regardless if I am plugged in or not.

As of around a week ago, I've been experiencing a strange thing with my internet connection. I live in apartments that provide internet to everyone that lives there, and had been living here for a few months before this started happening.I now constantly have my internet crashing in the middle of browsing/gaming. I will either open up my laptop to the internet not working already, or it will work, but crash randomly while I am using it.
Trying to load a page on google chrome, it will show a message saying DNS Lookup Failed, and an icon will pop up in the right corner of my screen with a yellow (!) triangle. If I hover over it, it will say no internet access.I've followed the few steps they had on there, but none of them worked. I've never had a problem like this before, and haven't made any modifications to anything on my computer lately, so I am pretty confused as to why this is happening. I know it is something on my end, because my roommate's internet is just fine, and even used my ethernet cord on her computer, and no problems at all.

I recently changed my graphics card (geforce 9100 to radeon hd 7750) because i wanted to enjoy some simple gaming and my previous graphics card (geforce 9100) wasnt capable of doing so. (This is my pc : HP Pavilion p6100 Desktop PC series*-* HP Pavilion p6130y Desktop PC Product Specifications - c01748306 - HP Business Support Center ). Before changing the card i uninstalled all nvidia related drivers (both in control panel and device manager) because i heard thats what youre supposed to do.
I successfully changed my graphics card (i think...) i can run all the games that i couldnt run before but.. I am having trouble connecting to the internet after changing the card. it seems like my computer isnt recognizing the inernet network. i know the network is fine because im writing this w/ my itouch which is connected to the network wifi. When i right click the red X icon w/ two computers and click "connect to a network" , it says "windows cannot find any networks" and i have no network options to choose from. Is it because i uninstalled drivers related to the network connection..?

I've got a Latitude E6500 laptop with Windows 7, 64-bit. I've tried connecting to three wireless networks and each time the wireless card manages to connect to the router, but is unable to connect to the internet. When I connect using the ethernet I have no problem and I'm able to connect to the wireless using other devices. I've downloaded the latest BIOS and windows drivers. I've ensured the security is configured correctly, the wireless is on, the password is correct.

I am managing a firewall setup with some ASA 5510's.One of the rules I have in the ACL list is to allow or deny (By disabling the rule) access to certain subnets.
I have a 3rd party vendor that from time to time need access to specific servers in the infrastructure, but I want to keep a certain level of control when they can access them and especially when they can not.
I know it works fine, I have done several tests to verify when they can connect and when they can not. But, now comes the tricky part, if they are already connected (Remote desktop) to the system, and I disable the rule, they are STILL!!! connected. It seems the firewall does not terminate the active session / cconnection when I disable the rule allowing them access..

I have a home WI-FI network on windows 7 with an attached NAS drive for my media (plugged into the router).I was wondering how I would connect my work PC to the Wi-FI Network so it can access the media but disable the internet from only that PC.I have seen suggestions about blocking the work PC's IP in the router settings and something about MAC addresses, but was more hoping there was something simple I could disable in the network settings on the PC itself.

This worked for a few minuites untill the computer decided that the home hub should be dominent and instead of accesing the internet the browser would show the bt cannot conect to the internet page.

I have a wireless router (an Actiontec PK5000) and two desktop computers that connect with USB wireless adapters. I'm looking for a way to stop one of those computers from connecting wirelessly, without disconnecting the other.I used to have a wired ethernet connection, but since I've moved my computer to a different room I've had to rely on a wireless connection. Previously, I shut off the wireless in the house whenever other people were hogging bandwidth, but now that's not an option, as it would shut me down too.

I recently had my Internet disconnected, and decided to share my iPhone's Internet connection (tether) with my PC. Now, the iPhone connection works, but for some reason my PC prefers to use my original Internet connection thus no connection. The only way I can access the Internet is by going into adapter settings and disabling my router, but I do not want to do this as I have other computers on the network and I often share files.

So currently where i live we dont have internet other than the tethering of our iphones. I bought this router mainly for use as file sharing between 2 computers. The reason i bought the router over a switch is because we are moving in 2 months and will have cable internet. So because of this if i have the router plugged into the computers and i plug my iphone with its USB into the computer to access the internet the router seems to block it. When calling support to find out how to disable the routing to allow the iphone internet through they seem to not know what the heck im talking about.

Every time I want to install the software for it ( whether from the CD or web , new or old ) I get that pop up window during installation : " compatibility issue : skip and continue or stop installation " the program lunches as it should and after entering the WPA network key I'm even able to connect to the Internet . After resetting the PC however I get message in the task-bar that the connection is limited and I may not be able to access some Internet resources. When I click on Fix button it tells me that windows can not fix the problem because it can not turn off the device? I'm running the same card in one of my PC's downstairs and it works fine with windows vista . The one I have problem with is running in win XP pc .

I'm about fed up with with having this issue that no one can seem to solve. It dates back to when I owned a WRT54G router. I started experiencing random disconnects with the router, both wired and wireless. I only owned the router a year and figured it was going bad.
So I purchased this WRT120N router late August. Soon after I set the router up, low and behold the same problem started. I've called my ISP a couple occasions and they tell me that everything is fine from their end. I've spoken with Linksys tech support on 3 seperate occasions. I have changed the MTU to 3 different values and upgraded the firmware. The 2nd support tech suggested that I do those two things. To my surprise this worked for 2 or 3 weeks with no problem. The same problem started again just last night disconnecting intermittingly. I spoke with another support tech and they suggested that disable the SPI Firewall protection and Anonymous internet request. That did not work for the brief time I had this disabled.
More into the problem, when it disconnects the modem seems fine but the activity light on it stops as it should. The router itself appears to reboot, then when it comes back up the connection restores. What could possibly cause this? I currently have version 1.0.02.This is getting very frustrating and I am getting very near not using Linksys/Cisco products any longer.

I've been having some problems with my Ethernet connection lately. The problem started early last week. I'm currently relocating, so I unplugged my laptop from the Ethernet connection I had at my old place. At two different locales, I have tried to use an Ethernet connection in order to get better speed (the wireless at the first locale was non-existent and at the second it is extremely slow in my room). I have done so with two separate cables that I have tested on others' computers and found that they are perfectly fine. That, of course, leads me to believe that it is my computer and is either a hardware or software problem (here's hoping it's the latter).Anyway, my laptop is a Dell Inspiron 1720 (purchased in 2006). About a year ago, I updated to Windows 7 from the pre-installed Vista. Never had any problems (as I said, everything was fine up until about a week ago). The installed card is a Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller. Everything under Device Manager indicates that the hardware is working properly and has all of its drivers installed, but nothing is working.I have tried to uninstall and re-install the drivers (albeit by allowing windows to find them automatically), but the result is the exact same.I have checked the port and found that there is no debris or obstructions. My computer hasn't been dropped or mishandled in any way.

my Intel wireless card keeps losing the connection. Until a couple of weeks ago it would be fine for roughly the first 20 minutes then the connection would just completely drop out and the only way to get it back again is to go into the network and sharing centre, disable the network card and then reenable it. Most of the time this works, but again for only the first 20-30 minutes, then I have to do it again. Occasionally it works for for longer but that's a rare occasion. Now not only does it do this, but also, if I put my laptop into sleep, sometimes when I turn it back on again the card will not connect to the network and I have to do the same disable and enable process.[ODE]

I got my wife a new laptop in October, and it runs on windows 7, since the 25th of december she has been having connectivity issues with her wireless card. She had 2 bars on her signal strength, and I wanted to take the signal strenght out of the equation, so I got a N range booster to put in the room she is usually in, she now has a signal strength of 5 bars. However she still loses connection to the internet.
ISP is Bell Fibe 25 Router is the bell modem/router in one. My son's Laptop goes in that room, and has no issues. I have made sure the drivers are up to date on both the router/modem, and on the laptop itself. The only thing I cna think of is that it is the card itself that is faulty.

I use Cisco 1220B AP and IPTIME wireless lancard (RT3070L).I want to connect Cisco 1220B AP to IP TIME N150 USB WIRELESS LAN CARD(RT3070L) on B400D.When SSID Broadcast mode, It is good for Cisco 1220B AP to connect with RT3070L.But Hidden SSID mode, it can not work connecting 1220B AP with wireless LAN Card(RT3070L).
I set up LINUX 2.1.26 kernel in my PC.After than, I tried to connect 1220B AP to RT3070L, it can not work to connect, too.Status LINUX 2.6.32 kernal, it can not too. When I changed Cisco AP (1220B -> 1242), It is good for Cisco 1242 AP to connect with RT3070L(both 1242AP Hidden mode and Broadcast mode).

So the other afternoon we had a freak power outage, my PC was on and connected to a surge protector. So once the power came back on, literally like 5 minutes later, I rebooted my PC and have had Wireless issues ever since. My PC is custom built with a Netgear WG311V3 PCI Wireless card in it. When I boot up, it tells me I am connectied to our wireless network, but no websites will load. I check for wireless networks but my PC tells me none are in range. I have had this issue before so I goto Network Connections and Disable Wireless Network Connection 2, my wireless card, and then when I goto Enable it I get this error: Connection Failed.

I'm going to be moving into a place in the next couple months where I'll have to go wireless on my desktop (until now I've just done Ethernet so I don't even have a wifi card on my desktop). The router/modem aren't anywhere near my bedroom so my gear will be going wireless from now on All my devices are built-in wifi ready but not my desktop.
I would like recommendations as to a rock-solid, reliable, fast and well performing card as I can to make up for no hardwired connection. Especially with BF3 coming out I'm not all that thrilled with being forced into this situation but you gotta do what you gotta do. Anyhow, I'll be bringing my router (Netgear WNDR3700) so I'll have the range and speed from there about as good as I can get, so I'd like a card of equal merit.
One side note...probably not really feasible considering I want speed and performance as a priority, but I would love a card (if possible) without bullshit antennas sticking out of the case, or with external antennas you have to set up on your desk. I will go that route if I have to but man that is an aesthetic nightmare, IMO. The ones that stick out of the back of the case are the worst looking for me just as a caveat.

My wifes Dell D600n with with Intel 2200BG wireless G card was Extremely difficult to get access to internet at first @ 54Mbps, but achieved it after 3 weeks of trying, after I had replaced motherboard, to fix battery charging issue.
The current problem, that i cannot seem to surmount is: I replaced the wireless card with a newer Broadcom BCM43222, Dual band N wireless card, that should be capable of connecting at almost 6 times the speed of the older G card. Unfortunately, the new card seems unable to connect at all.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The wireless switch via keyboard Fn & F2, has been on the entire time. I've tried a couple of different drivers, to no avail. Ive uninstalled/ reinstalled both the card and drivers several times, still no connection. The device manager reports the card is off, at all times, and i cannot find any way to alter this, but, despite the fact that this sounds like it could definitely cause no connection, this is unlikely to be the reason, because it has reported that the wireless card is off at all times since the new Motherboard was installed, and the Wireless G card worked perfectly for the past 2 months, and still does, while the device manager was all the while reporting it was off.
Also the wired broadband connection, via cat 5, had never worked after changing MOBO, Nor did the Dial up modem, til both modem and Ethernet came to life, last night after reinstalling drivers for both the modem and Ethernet. unfortunately doing the same thing for wireless had no effect. All this time the Intel wireless G card has, and still does work perfectly every time i remove the Broadcom Wireless N card and plug the G card back in. Until lastnight, The device manager reported the wireless card had no driver installed. now it recognizes the driver is installed but still cannot connect wirelessly One wireless card driver I tried was called: BROADCOM_ABGN_DD-WRT.zip. I lost track of the name of the other driver that i've been trying. Someone on another forum said after installing BROADCOM_ABGN... That one must go to device manager advanced properties and select US from choices of US, Japan, or Germany, To get this driver to work. I've tried this too. Again, No improvement.
Ive built my own computers for the past 30 years, and repair them all the time, for hardware problems, but I fear software is not my forte. My son, who is better at software. Usually, together, we can solve any mechanical electronic or software malfunction, but we're both stumped by this one. Admittedly, we all sometimes overlook a simple solution while seeking a very difficult one. Whenever I face a difficult malfunction like this, I think of when as a 5 year old I was privileged to accompany my Engineer big brother to a local Airport to repair what i would later learn was a Automatic Direction Finder System, needed before flight. As I sat beside my on the tarmac, watching him sweat bullets trying to effect a quick fix, I noticed something that looked out of place to me, and started chanting his name, Ronnie, Ronnie, Ronnie... ad infinitum, as kids are like to do, til in desperation he finally dropped his screwdriver withwhich he aws about to dismantle the entire mechanism, and fairly yelled what?, to which I asked timidly, Ronnie are all those lightbulb things (electron tubes) supposed to be lit. he said of course!, and continued working, ignoring me for another hour. Finally when he stopped to scratch his head, I said "If they're all supposed to be lit why is one of them not lit? he insisted they all were, but was adamant that they weren't. when he asked which one, and i pointed to it. He tested it verifying the filament was, indeed, open, and demanded to know why id watched for 4 hours and hadn't said that before.
