Do Some Wifi Routers Have A Security Key Even After Reset
Apr 16, 2012
So I decided to reset a wifi router, I have done this many times before and each time the process was quite smooth. But those routers were different models. This particular one is quite something. I reset it and when I tried to connect back to the network it asked me for a security key! I have tried everything from admin, password, 12345, the old passwords it had.. nothing seems to work.It gives a 'limited connectivity' message and the diagnosis tool asks whether the security key is correct. And it only accepts five characters (alphanumeric)So obviously I cannot try the default IP in the browser to access its settings, I can't even connect to the router. Are there known routers that ask for a security key even after resetting?
got the ac900db router set up and the the setup page to allow me to set security is no longer available and i am now unprotected with my wi-fi for a guest login.....website for belkin is a viscious loop that explains NOTHING at all and has no easy way to find how to fix anything!! how do i get to the DASHBOARD or even log back into my account i set up?
For some reason my wife's laptop has lost its connection to my router and when I put in what has always been my security key it gives me an error message saying that it has to be such and such for WEP ?I logged into the D-Link router but could not locate the place where the security key is set. Any way to that part of the firmware so I can reset the security key.
I would like to give selected friends and family access through Wi-fi to our home network (Vista windows) however I cannot or do not have the network security id written down anywhere and it is blocked from my viewing when I go to the Control Panel, Network Security page "Network Security Key". How might I reset this security password? And if I do, is this the password a friend would use to gain access to my network?
I have a modem and connected to the modem is my wifi box. I have 9 computers using the wifiWhat happens is the internet connection just drops for ALL the computers at the same time even though ALL the computers signal strength is excellentI have to reset the wifi box and then all the computers are back onlineThis can happen 2 or 3 times an hour or sometimes I can go 2 hours or so
I was in the Wireless tab>Basic Wireless Settings and then I clicked the "Reset Security" button. I don't know what that did but I've been completely shut out of my connection ever since and I don't know how to fix it. I tried doing the install sequence of the router just now (Clone MAC address, then release and renew DHCP, power cycle modem, router, and PC) but it still didn't work.
When I ran a reset to factory settings of my acer aspire one netbooks which runs windows 7 I no longer have a wireless connection option at all. I have done this before and never lost my ability to connect wirelessly. I tried to look for driver downloads but I'm not even sure what it is I need to do to recover the missing program as it was a original factory program.
We have the Linksys WRT150N router. A while ago it suddenly lost the name we gave it when we set it up and now it shows up as Linksys. Also, it is no longer secure, and sometimes we can't even see our network - it isn't even listed. How do I go in and change this? Will I have to reset the wireless information on my printer, etc?
Every night I turn everything off via power strip, including the router. Before I turn off the router, my roku connection is good.In the morning, the roku will work for about 20 minutes, then disconnects, and then I'm unable to find the router.I'll then need to reset my router's settings (I have the WRT54GS), and then uplug, and replug the router. It's important that I unplug the router every night. Is there a way to configure the settings so I don't have to reconfigure the settings every morning?
I'm trying to re setup my mother in laws Belkin F9K1002 wireless router. She has no clue as to what her password is for the wireless network or any other Belkin password. When I go to the support website, there are instructions to reset the network password, but you have to login to change the settings. The instructions say to leave the password field at the login blank but when I leave the field blank, I get an error message "Incorrect password. Please confirm your password and try again." So it seems I need the password to reset the password.
We are deploying a new batch of RV016 with the latest firmware (4.0.4.02). We are using 3 WAN ports for internet access (WAN1, WAN2, WAN3)The WAN ports connects to Cicso 800 series adsl modem with DHCP.The RV016 WAN1 port setting regularly resets to 0.0.0.0 despite that the modem dhcp is still up and running. A cold boot, resets all the configuration and WAN1 port start working againg a new ip.
All three WAN ports are set to automatically obtain ip from the modems. We have tried several modems, and even swap WAN ports, but the error is persistant to WAN1 only.
WAN2 and WAN3 are up and running without any errors. This error is persistant with WAN1 only.We have also configured a manual ip on WAN1, and after a few hours of operation on all 3 ports, traffic on WAN1 comes to a halt.We have the same error on 3 units we received last week. All there modem are configure on different subnets. It does not seems to be a configuration error with the modem as they work perfectly well with the WAN2, WAN3 ports. We also tested a RV016 out of the box using the wizard setup, without any extra setting/configuration, and we got the same error after a few hours of operation.
I am unable to connect to the internet thru my router, Lynksys WRT54Gs. The network worked fine before I went on vacation. I accessed the internet by connecting the ethernet directly to the modem, and have been unsuccessful at my attempts to reset the router with 192.168.1.1
According to the Belkin support tech, apparently the weather (?) may have effected my Belkin Model F5D8235-4 v3 router. My wife pressed the re-set button instead of powering down which according to the tech set my router to reading zero (0).Belkin tech refused to tell me how to re-set the router unless I paid $75 for a six month support plan because mine expired recently.
