View 1 Replies View RelatedI need to replace my Netgear WGR614 v6 router which is a good 4 or 5 years old, and i think is the cause of a very slow internet connection. Download speeds are reaching 1.1mb/s but browsing on the internet is unbelievably slow and fails to load pages most of the time saying the DNS look-up failed. I was thinking of purchasing the Buffalo Wireless-N300 Cable Router. I'm with Virgin Media, i think on 10meg broadband. I think it will support moving from wireless G to wireless N, but my laptop is fairly old too - Fujitsu Siemens Lifebook C series.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI replaced a Netgear router with a similar Netgear router, but the LAN is no longer working. The old Netgear router would drop internet, but LAN would work. Replaced it, the new Netgear router works fine with the internet (cable modem), but the LAN with two computers will not work. The desktop with Windows XP, and a laptop with Windows 7. After runing network setups on both computers several times, I have been unable to reestablish the LAN, however internet access via the router is working. Reinstalled the old router and the LAN works fine, allowing file and printer sharing. Old router is a Netgear WGR614v2, new router is a Netgear WNR2000how to reconfigure the router/computers to get the LAN working again with new router.

I can connect to the internet just fine directly but when I try the netgear it tells me No Internet Connection. When I go through the setup process it tells me No Ethernet Cable is Plugged Into The Router Internet Port. When I hook up my very old Cisco router the internet and Wi-fi work just fine. I have updated the drivers and have windows firewall off. This is it plugged directly in:

View 2 Replies View RelatedI cannot get my computer to recognize my Netgear WNR1000. I have called Netgear to explain the issue and was on the phone with them for 45 minutes. They did get the laptop to work but my desktop still does not. They told me it was a browser error. If I disconnect the ethernet cable from the router to my computer everything works perfect.I tried to reinstall the CD that came with the router and as I try to get through step 2 it says no router detected.I think this is my hold up but I have no way to know how to fix this. I tried to go on the Netgear website and they tell me that I have to be able to connect to the internet to download through the router. Well I can't do that because obviously that is the hangup. If I click on my Network Connections. It shows my computer connected to a Network with limited capability and then a big red X going to the internet.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a Netgear WNDR4000 router. The wired network is working fine, but the wireless network is giving me problems I don't understand.
I am using the following equipment to connect to the wireless network:
- Samsung Galaxy S2 mobilefoon (supports N speeds)
- Asus laptop (supports G speeds)
With both devices I want to connect to the 2.4 Ghz (b/g/n) wireless network with the following settings:
- Channel: auto
- Speed: 145 Mps max.
- Security: WPA2-PSK [AES]
- Preamble modus: long
- Fragmentation length: 2346
- CTS/RTS: 2347
Latest firmware has been installed.
Here is what happens:
- When resetting the router to factory settings I can connect with both devices mentioned (security is not enabled)
- When setting the WPA2 security key for the first time, I can connect with both devices.
- When I try to connect with either device for the second time I cannot connect, messages (from mobile phone):
The nework SSID is visible Trying to connect Connection broken Network remembered
And then a loop is present that keeps trying to connect, but almost never succeeds. Maybe once in a hundred attempts. When a connection is made, it works fine for as long as the connections stays present. After the connection is broken, it all starts over again. The 5 Ghz network is behaving exactly the same (only tested with my mobile phone, laptop doesn't support 5Ghz network).
I have lowered the speeds and tried different channels, but behavior stays the same.
basically, my iMac detects the extender as routername_EXT which is fine, but says that the password i type is wrong. when i use my original router with my iphone with the same password it works, but when i try to use it with my extender it says that the password is wrong.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just reset my router to the factory settings in order to make some changes to it. However, when I tried to change the SSID to a unique name, I was unable to connect my computer to the wireless network. I then reset my security settings and left the SSID to the default name "linksys_SES_54125" and it is working just fine. I tried to connect with two separate computers both running Windows 7. My router is the WRT54G v8
why I wouldn't be able to connect to my wireless network when I change the SSID?
when i click on connect to network nothing happens. it doesn't do anything, but if i plug in my old router it will connect just fine. It's just the new router

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a DVR connected to CCTV cameras that I would like to connect to my computer via Ethernet and a Netgear N150 router which also handles my broadband. A program called VideoViewer is installed on the computer which works with the DVR to view images on the computer via ethernet.it works with a Zoom router, but not the Netgear.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I first got my Netgear N-150 router, the wireless speed on it was great. However several days passed and I started to notice the speed was decreasing; because I have HughesNet (I hate it) I thought this was the ISP's fault and called them and they said my speed had not gone down. During the day, the signal is fine and is at full bars and the speeds are OK. During the evening/night hours the connection becomes faulty and the laptop will disconnect from the network altogether. If I plug the ethernet cable directly into the router, the speed is OK also. I have taken the security off the connection to see if it will make any difference; it doesn't. I don't know if I need to buy a new router or what. I know my way around computers and routers (not entirely though) and I cannot figure it out. I have 2 laptops with Windows Vista both with home Premium.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhat i'm trying to do is share my USB 3G modem to my Xbox.Tried setting up an ad hoc network using stock Vista settings and also tried using a program called Connectify. Using stock vista settings the ad hoc simply will not work. Using Connectify the ad hoc network works but only for a couple of hours, then the USB modem tries to connect to my ad hoc network which then disables the Internet connection on the USB modem. Its a baffling problem but most likely something to do with the USB modem which just gets stuck trying to connect to a wep secured ad hoc network, the usb modem cannot be connected to mobile and wifi so it simply shuts the connection down .So ad hoc simply does not work.
So instead i'm trying to share my internet connection through my Netgear router. I read around the net that in order to do this DHCP needs to be disabled on the router. So i disabled it. Now the xbox will not connect to the netgear router, it cannot get an ip address because DHCP is turned off. I looked around the net and all the information is conflicting. No matter what i cannot get an ip number from the router to the xbox. DHCP needs to be off for ICS to function, but i get no further than "cannot get ip address". The xbox is connected to the netgear, it sees the netgear fine, but will not get an ip.How can i get my xbox to get an ip from the router with DHCP turned off ?.
