Want to change DNS Server Address on PC. But when I go to change DNS address by going to Network Connections in Control Panel. Select current Local Area Connection and choose Properties, I get an error 'An Unexpected Error Occured'. Have tried resetting network again but still the same error

The network I was trying to set up didn't quite work out so I tried to set it back to how they were but forgot how they were. Is there a way to delete the Wireless Network Connection and let it create a new one or is there a "standard" setting for this to strictly find a wireless network and connect to it?

I uninstalled my wireless network adapters and disabled my firewall.My main concern is I am trying to get my computer wired for work at home jobs. I used to have it wirelessly. I am using my landlord's ethernet D link router connection from linkysys router to Dlink then to computer wired using an ethernet cable. She has it working for her. She has it going from her son's and it works. My computer says aquiring network address quite frequently. Yesterday it used to say connected but the internet said page cannot be displayed and for the results everything was ok but not the gateway.

I assumed I had some form of Malware (I know very little about computers) so ran various removal scans and a few things were picked up but it continues to do this. My brother brought his laptop round so I could at least use the internet and after 5 mins of being connected to my internet his laptop started to do exactly the same cursor going all over and programs opening - his laptop was perfectly fine until he connected to my internet. Once he took his laptop back home on his own network it was working perfectly normal again.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI checked the NIC Properties and the Speed & Duplex only shows the following 10 half, 10 full, 100 half, 100 full and auto. There is no 1000 half and 1000 full. My old gigabit NIC on my old computer shows all, 10s, 100s, and 1000s and the auto. They tried to fix it and even changed the driver but it still is not showing the 1000s. Their option was to change the motherboard with a refurbished one and my computer was just bought just 2 months ago. The original computer had 12GB memory, I7, AMD graphics card, 460 PSU. no blue-ray, no usb 3. The new setup is 16GB memory, I7, Nvidia GeForce GT 550 Ti, Usb 3, Blue-ray, I think 800 PSU.I am running Win 7 Home Premium 64. I have a Gigabit connection from my internet service so I wanted the NIC to go that fast too. The specs shows the computer to have a Gigabit NIC but the properties is not showing the 1000s.

A few days back I have changed the modem (don't know the previous model no) because of some issues. Since then I am not able to open most of the websites in Firefox, IE6/8, chrome, opera. If i connect with other network like reliance data card, those websites are opening, if i connect bsnl the problem will be same again. I called to customer care many times, but no use.
Router config and i just follow the instructions anyway i just bought this router cuz the old one failed and it was installed ok with internet connection and everything but when i open a program like bittorrent azureus the internet connection dies, it happens on my laptop and mac they both seem ok but when i open that program internet connection disappears
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy friend cant connect to the web using a wired connection, I thought I would have a look since I have another laptop with XP, I tried many ways to get a connection, now ive noticed in Device Manager under Network Adapters, on my OS XP I have 1394 Net Adapter, Intel(R) PRO/Wireless and Realtek RTL ( Family Fast Ethernet).But on his OS (XP) he only has 1394 Net Adapter and Intel(R) PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3A Mini PCI Adapter.Should he also have a Ethernet Adapter as well or am I missing something?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have 3 laptops running through a wireless lan. All laptops connect to the router, and 2 of them connect through to the internet. One of them will not connect to the internet. I have tried using an ethernet cable connection, and this did not work either. The more worrying thing for me (not being so computer literate) is that I could not even get a response when I pinged the modem when it was connected with a cable to the PC. The network sharing centre says that I have a default gateway access issue or that "wireless network connection" doesn't have a valid IP configuration, I have lost the ability to print with wifi and my Sonos system now no longer connects. I also get a media disconnected message when I do an ipconfig.

Just to be sure it wasn't hardware related I ran a ubuntu live cd and was able to connect with no problems. I tried updating the drivers,installing and reinstalling the network card with no luck. I also tried letting windows repair it but it says there may be driver problems.

I get a Windows security message recommending I do not allow the redirect (which I can choose and force the redirect). My question is - Is there a setting I can modify to allow this redirect to eliminate the security warning? Our old laptop ran on XP and redirected without any security warning.

I have a desktop computer and a laptop computer both running Windows 7 Home Premium. The desktop is connected to the router directly and the laptop is connected to the wireless network. When I restart both computers, I can see and access the other computer through the home network without problems. But after a while, sometimes just a few minutes, I can only see the other computer but cannot access it. Sometimes, I cannot even see the other computer. If I do a "ipconfig /release" and a "ipconfig /renew", it may sometimes correct the problem for a while.

I have also disabled the Bonjour service.I have turned a number of services, such as computer browser, server, workstation and many others to automatic as people suggested.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI got my wife a new laptop in October, and it runs on windows 7, since the 25th of december she has been having connectivity issues with her wireless card. She had 2 bars on her signal strength, and I wanted to take the signal strenght out of the equation, so I got a N range booster to put in the room she is usually in, she now has a signal strength of 5 bars. However she still loses connection to the internet.
ISP is Bell Fibe 25 Router is the bell modem/router in one. My son's Laptop goes in that room, and has no issues. I have made sure the drivers are up to date on both the router/modem, and on the laptop itself. The only thing I cna think of is that it is the card itself that is faulty.
I have a Samsung SCX-4623FW All-in-One Printer that will not maintain a connection to my wireless router a Linksys WRT160N. Samsung technicians have not been able to assist after multiple calls. They sent me to a printer repair store which reported they had no problem with the printer working on their wireless network. When I used the setup disk initially it would connect the printer to the network and I could print from my laptop wirelessly, but the connection never continued working more than a few hoursThe router has no problems in connecting to 3 different computers.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAs far as im aware the current set up of the network is two desktops connected to a router and the router is connected to a switch (i didnt assemble the network) Now what im trying to do is get onto the router so i can change the SSID for a wirless connection.i was told by the ISP i was to change my IP, DG and subnet from DHCP to a static setup they gave me, which i did. but when i go into the browser to access the net (and ultimatly put the IP into the adress bar to access the properties) the net connection fails and i cant get on. when i change back to DHCP the net works again but i cant configure the router with this IP because the company has forgoten the admin/password.

My internet suddenly disappeared, as in, it doesn't work anymore. I'm not sure as to when it disappeared due to my personal absence, but from what I heard it was either during 'starting a game' or 'installing firefox add-ons updates'. Internet does work on other computers sharing the same internet (wired and wireless). On the computer that does not have access to internet it gives a "local area connection - No Network Access" and "local area connection - unidentified network." So far I've tried:
A system restore.
Restarting the router (at home as well as the provider)
Changing wiring.
Disabling / Enabling.
Disabling virusscanner.
when i right click nic (the double computer icon) properties in my windows server 2003 nothing is displayed. It shows as if it is going to log off but returns as usual without showing any properties.

We are using WP2/AES for encryption and 802.1x for key management for our WLAN. The question I have is, when I look at one of the client's properties through the WLC 5508, then look at the "AP properties", its says that its using; Authentication = Open System, and WEP state = wep enabled. Why would the AP properties have open system and wep enabled when the WLAN is setup for WP2/AES??? There is also a "Security Information" Section just below the "AP properties" section and this lists the correct settings. Are the "AP Properties" irrelevant in this case?
I Connected two connection on my computer. One is LAN connection that is my Office network connection, and another one is USB Wireless device. I was using those two connection on the same computer. Now i office Network admin came and changed the Setting from the LAN Propertied. he removed the default gateway of my server IP address from DNS Server and he gave that ip address to the Default gateway in the LAN Propertied tab. After which i cannot access the wireless. If i change to ip address to the DNS Server my wireless is working..what is DNS Server and Default gateway..... Also i want to know the diffrence between that..
