May 30, 2011my home pc doesnt have any desktop icons or a toolbar and so i am unable to connect to the internet.could tell how i could connect to the internet using task manager

Apr 20, 2011I just recently got the internet and I have a desktop computer that has ever rarely been used and it has never had the internet on it. I called tech support of my ISP to see what many be the problem why I can't connect to the internet and found that the source of the problem was I do not have a LAN network connection. When I open Network Connections on the computer, nothing is there. I also went to device manager and there is nothing there for Networking. Under category of "Other Devices" in Device Manager there is a question mark next to "Ethernet Controller". Are there drivers or something I need download to fix this so I can connect to the internet via a DSL connection.
My computer specs are:
Windows XP Professional
Version 2002
Service Pack 2

I've also tried to install the drivers, but at the end of the install this error message pops up " the Realtek Network Controller was not found. If Deep sleep mode is enabled please plug the cable"

I know I have to disable the onboard nic but the installed card is not comming up either in Device manager or network connections. What gives? In the bios under integrated peripherals i did enable PnP OS.

I am mostly interested in a router with a fast and stable wifi and high throughput which can manage a high amount of maximum simultaneous connections. The linksys e4200 seems perfect and very well reviewed.I am currently on adsl, no cable in area, so i would need one to have an adsl modem. Is there a version with a modem? Or will i need to look around for another?
I am mainly interested in throuput and the reviews and comparison sites sugest that linksys seems perfect midway between max simultaneous connections and price. Any comparison website that has adsl routers. Cisco :: LMS 2.6 License Manager / Deamon Manager Is Down
May 12, 2012Customer is running LMS 2.6.Scheduled backup was running perfect. But it is no more happening.When we checked we found that the "License Manager/ Deamon Manager is down" message pop ups.
We reset the casuser password, and then restarted the services. It becomes ok.But only the immediate backup is successful. Scheduled task fails for all those devices."License Manager/ Deamon Manager is down" happens quite often.

Apr 7, 2011I connect to the internet through a Thomson TG585 v8 modem. When I log in to the modem's IP (192.168.1.254?) through a browser, I only get one task available, that is "Check connectivity for this internet service". As far as I know, I should have some management options, like for example to block websites, to limit internet service for certain devices etc... Does anybody knows why I don't have these options? Could it be a restriction from the Internet Service Provider?

Mar 6, 2013I've been tasked with designing a network consisting of 3 separate broadcast domains with each one representing a separate business accross 3 separate floors. None of the companies should be able to communicate with each other.I've been told that the design should only represent the first 3 layers of the OSI model so I'm only looking at Cabling, Switching and Routing.
I don't expect you all to tell me exactly how I should do this, however I just need a starting point. My main issue is with routing. I'm aware that each port on a router represents a broadcast domain so if I use one router, 3 broadcast domains, does that means that none of the domains will be able to communicate with each other? Should I use more than one router or can i get away with one? Also just so you are aware I've been told not to use VLans and each broadcast domain must have its own ip address schema.
Dell :: XPS L702 Wireless Icon In Task Bar Does Not Change
Feb 2, 2013 I am able to connect to the internet wireless. The wireless icon does not change. The blue dot rotates and moves about but instead of showing a connection, just the signal bars showing, it shows a land line connection with a red X over it. This happened after one of those many Windows updates.
I know I could try a reset to an earlier boot however, I made too many changes, installs and such that I don't want to loose any of it. There has to be a workaround for this lousy problem. I though of perhaps deleting my wireless connection and reinstalling it from the modem on up to the router. I just don't want to keep digging a hole! Ya know what, I really miss my apple computer which I finally gave up on because the price was overwhelming.

Aug 2, 2012I just installed a broadcom m960g bluetooth card from an older dell into my xps 1645 (win 7 x64). I found a driver on dell's website for a v370 bluetooth device for win vista x86, and although my bluetooth card was discovered and worked on my computer, after a restart it no longer supports connections to headsets and mice, although I am still given the option to transfer files. After a restart, the Bluetooth icon no longer appears in the taskbar, and I am not given the option to search for and connect to bluetooth devices when searching my computer for those options. I tried re-installing the driver, with no luck.

Jan 21, 2012I brought a friend's computer home, thinking I could solve her problem but I'm at my wit's end. I cannot open Internet Explorer and Internet Options does not open from Control Panel. I followed other suggestions I found on your forum and on the net but nothing works. I cannot access the internet in any way (on that computer) and therefore cannot even supply you with a HiJack file. I tried several restore points and the only malware pgm on that computer is MalmareBytes (which found nothing). I cannot even run a anti-virus scan because that is no longer running - which is the reason I brougth her computer to my house in the first place. After several attempts of trying to open IE some times it stays open for a few seconds but most times it just flashes, then closes.

Apr 21, 2011I have always been using internet explorer and have never had any trouble opening up web sites. However this week trouble has started when using a stock trading site. When I open up the "Home Page" of IG Index this opens in full no problem. But when I then click on the tab to open up the trading section section this opens but not fully. The tool bar across the top but the main body of the page, the frame, is blank. I have tried internet options, deleting history etc and disc clean up but to no avail. Have also tried system restore but no good. Have soken ti IG Index and they suggest changing from Internet Explorer to Firefox as my browser. I dont really want to do this as I am not a computer buff and I can see all sorts of complications arising if I change to Fire Fox

Jan 12, 2013I just signed up for Time Warner - Road Runner internet service. I am currently hardwired via ethernet to the new cable modem (arris cm820) while I wait for my wireless router to arrive.The internet appears to be working fine (good speed), however, it stalls without fail every 3 minutes. It will freeze and no pages will open (FYI, it does not open a "you are not connected to the internet" page, it simply just sits there trying to load any and all pages). After about 5 minutes, the pages will suddenly load and the internet will work fine for another 3 minutes. Then, it will freeze all over again. Rinse and repeat. When this happens, the modem shows no physical signs of disconnection (all lights are on as normal) and network diagnostics on the mac shows that that the ethernet is still connected as well.I tried calling Time Warner and all they could say is that it "looks fine from our end, watch it for 24 hours and call back." So basically they knew nothing.

Mar 23, 2011I am trying to open up certain ports to host multiplayer games on the internet on my computer and on Xbox 360.The only internet service provider is primecast. I am able to open the ports on my router but the ports still show closed using portforward.com portchecker. I disabled all firewalls and Anti-Virus, no luck. I even connected my computer directly to the modem, the ports are still closed. The Router is a Linksys WRT400N set to single band. The modem is an Alcatel although there is no model number (it has a fiber optic connection, coax connection and 2 ethernet port connections). The condo is cat 5 ready so the router has multiple ethernet cables which go to the ethernet wall plugs throughout the apartment which is how I connect to my desktop.
FYI:One of the games I am trying to play online IL2 1946, people simply cannot connect.In another game Company of Heroes, people cannot connect and I cannot connect to most games it says there is a NAT issue when connecting.
PS When I go into ipconfig I now see IPv4 and IPv6, I don't know if that has something to do with it but to my knowledge these sections were not here previously (before I moved).
