I've been searching in google on how to block IDM in my router D-Link DIR-655, i need to block this application because we have a large network here in our office, and i found out mostly of our users when i check have a IDM installed in thier pc and its affecting our internet connection.

Is there a way to block it? The download managers often start multiple connections and seem to open/cose connections.

What acl should i use if for example one client from the lan is using a torrent client to download from the internet. View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to allow a block of 7 or 8 devices to access the internet all the time. Two other devices I would like to allow internet access during a set time range. Finally I would like to block internet access to all devices not in one of the above groups. I need to use MAC addressing to identify the allowed devices. I was able to do this with my old WRT-54G but the DIR-825 is giving me trouble.My main problem occurs when I try to block access to "Other Machines". When I do that all devices on my network are cut off the internet.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm currently subscribed to Comcast's 22/5 Internet service. Internet upload speeds on both wired and wireless are about the same at ~ 5 Mbps. Wireless download speeds range from .5-3 Mbps. Wired or Wireless, I receive LAN speeds of ~32 Mbps or 3-4 MB/s. The noticeable issue is wireless internet download speed. I have tried every configuration possible with my router, updated drivers on devices, firmware and tested everything I could on all PCs, and even used the XBOX 360's media extender network tuning feature as a tool in my investigation to find this bottleneck. All reports point to internet download speed. Again, general LAN and internet upload speeds relatively meet expectations. The wired download speeds are slow at times, but consistently meet expectations.

We are using ASA 5520.We have blocked port 80 and 443 from Inside to any destination .Below that we have another rule which alow any to any for IP. how to block bittorrent download from inside network. I can't block P2P ports since SYKPE is also using P2P.

When I connect directly to my dsl modem, I am getting better than 5 megabits/sec. which is what I should be getting for download speed.When connected thru the router, I am getting about half of that.My wireless connection speed is 54 megabits/sec, so that is ok. I cannot get any connection when I hardwire the connection from the pc to the router too.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI had my Dir-655 router for over a year & this is is a first.My firmware is 1.21 & I only use my router for gaming when I'm not on my PC for home use. I have only one PC in the house that is not shared, I have also not downloaded any virus or maleware.So the past month I decided to buy a wired ethernet cord to connect to my gaming systems rather than using the wireless option to get an extra bit of speed. That has been working fine up till yesterday when all of a sudden my download speeds dropped from around 20Mb down to barely 1Mb down (I can't even get the speed test site to fully load anymore). The upload & ping remains unchanged though. Only my Download speed is being affected. This is both when I'm on the PC & when I'm online gaming.
I unplugged my D-Link router & plugged my modem directly to my PC & I got back the 20+Mb speed, so the modem or cable company are not at fault (I even called them to see if there were any problems on there end).
-I tried turning off my Firewall on my PC.
-Resetting & rebooting both my modem/router/PC.
-using different DNS numbers.
-using /flushdns.
-using /Iprenew.
-Messing around with my router configurations such as:
turning off QoS Engine.
turning off wireless.
turned of MAC filtering.
unchecked "Add DHCP Reservation".
unchecked SIP.
None of it worked. I'm still browsing at around 56k dial up speed for the past day+!I read up on the internet for similar problems, but the only solutions I saw was turning off the firewall on the PC, but that hasn't worked at all.
Customer is running LMS 2.6.Scheduled backup was running perfect. But it is no more happening.When we checked we found that the "License Manager/ Deamon Manager is down" message pop ups.
We reset the casuser password, and then restarted the services. It becomes ok.But only the immediate backup is successful. Scheduled task fails for all those devices."License Manager/ Deamon Manager is down" happens quite often.

The only phone jack is in her room so I have no way of stopping her from plugging her computer straight into the modem and/or router. Once the time kick in, the E2000 will not route any internet access for any internal IP until the unit is power off and power on reboot.If that rule is disabled. then the E2000 will route all days and nights with no problem.Updated firmware to 1.0.0.4 already.I replaced the WRT45 because of the same problem a year ago. Now just about a year, this E2000 keeps blocking all traffic.

However, it seems that there are certain rules of the router that won't let me do this. It seems I can't make 2 different policies for PC's within the same IP range (192.168.1.0 to 192.168.1.254) , it gives me the error: "The values you entered are invalid. Please try again."every time I try to do so. And when I try to give the time range from 9 PM to 8 PM it gives an error stating that the end time must be bigger than start time. The attached settings block facebook as desired during the filter times but after 6:30pm the filter expires and the entire internet is blocked (not just facebook). All of my browsers act as if they are hanging and won't load pages until I disable the filter.
I've also tried creating two different filters (one at a time). The first allowed full internet access all the time and the second allowed access the opposite times of the work filter. But to no avail.
On E4200 Firmware Version: 1.0.03, I managed to successfully set up "Internet Access Policy" (not the "Parental Controls") to set up the times when internet access is disabled for various IPs on my network.
But I could't setup a policy to block facebook.com. What I am doing wrong? See the attached screen shot. I did click the "Edit List" and apply this polity to the IP Address Range 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.254.
Why does my E1200 forget my Parental Control Password? This happens almost weekly and I have to use the "forgot password" option. It asks my security question, I answer it and set the new password to the same password it keeps forgetting. Why does this happen? Also, is there anyway to have total 24hr control on the Block Internet Access?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have configured my e4200 to block traffic at certian times uses both the Parental Controls and the Intenet Access Polices. Neither one seems to work though. [code] I have the same MAC addresses specified in each rule. Initally I had only the first two rules. Those didn't work, so I added rule 3 and 4 (they do the same thing as rules 1 and 2 but from the opposite direction). There are no compliaints, but they don't stop any traffic.
I started with the Parental Controls, they didn't work either. The page in there that lets you pick which machines you want to block seemed next to worthless. I have about four rows listed as "Network Device." REALLY LAME! As the MAC addresses are accesible and these weren't working I went to the IAP.

I click save and get this pop-up: Incorrect source ip address. Invalid format of the start IP address. Current Firmware Version : 2.11 The ip is obviously valid, what should I do?
I can connect to Internet perfectly fine. I can even VPN back into my office. However, once connected via VPN and I launch my Outlook Client, I'm not able to connect to get emails. When I run a "netstat -a", I get my "SYN_SENT" to all my office domain controllers and exchange servers.However, if I connected via my Starhub USB Broadband dongle, everything works perfectly fine.What settings do I need to do on my router? I tried port forwarding and application rules but none worked.
