I have a D-Link DGL-4500 Wireless N Gaming Router. If I create a mobile hotspot with my BB Bold 9900, can I somehow get my router to connect to it so I can provide bandwidth to my Ethernet dependent network devices?

Windows server 2008 (providing DHCP and DNS) 192.168.89.1 on all
Cisco SG 300-20 (switch) 192.168.89.3
all Clients(15 x DHCP assigned IPs) connected to switch
WRT300N(192.168.89.2) connected to switch
Internet modem connected to WRT300N
To achieve this I need to disable DHCP on the WRT300N, since my server is providing DHCP.The issue I have is that when I disable DHCP at the WRT300N, I lose internet connection (connected to either switch or direclty to WRT300N).
I just moved in to a new place and have connected my Wireless router (WRT610N) to my switch located in the smart panel in the basement (SE2500). Plugging my ultrabook in to the wall confirms that the signal from the switch in the basement is being sent up, however if I plug my wireless router in to the jack and connect to the wireless router I have no internet access.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Cisco ASA 5500 as the main router with a DIR-655 as a wireless access point behind it. DHCP is turned off on the 655 as the ASA is providing DHCP. This worked great for about a year and now suddenly, without any changes, I'm having problems. The only thing that connects without a problem is a laptop, which shows up on the device list with an IP. Other devices have problems. iPhones connect, show an IP on the device itself, but when listed in the connected list on the 655 show no IP. The connection is super slow. An Airport Express will connect, but again, shows no IP in the connected list on the 655. Using the ethernet cable from the Airport Express, nothing can get an IP. I can live with the iPhone not connecting, but the Airport Express not connecting is a major problem. Any reason why this would just stop working one day?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have TP-LINK TL-WR740N router and I am trying to configure it to work with my Broadband cable over PPPOE.The router once configured show status as connected with a proper IP and DNS servers. When I use the routers inbuilt ping utility to ping Google or any other site I get a reply.But when I connect my computer to the router on the LAN port I see no internet on my computer. I am able to ping the router address but not google.I tried disabling all Firewalls and Antivirus I have but problem still the same.Also I tried connecting over WIFI but still no internet.I also called up TP-LINK helpline several time and got my router replaced. They also tried a few settings on my machine but no success.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a WRT160N Wireless router and am not getting fast wireless speeds. My ISP told me my speeds are 10mbps download and 1 mbps upload. I realize that this is not lighting fast but it is all that I feel like i need. My speeds on the WRT160N are about 2-3 MBPS d/l and 600kbps u/l on my wireless connection, which is hooked up to my playstation 3. My wired connection, which goes to my pc, is 9.75 mbps d/l and about .95 mbps u/l, which seems right. Why am I getting such low speeds with a router that is suppose to be build for faster wireless and longer ranges.To make a comparison, I have been using an OLD linksys b-rated router. i can't exactly remember the model, but i think it is the bef11s4, it came with a network card and is about 6-7 years old. I was getting 3-3.5 mbps d/l and 800kbps u/l with the b rated router, and it seemed like a better reception, like in the 80's-90's. ThisWRT160N is getting like in the 70's and sometimes lower.I have tried setting the router to open all ports to a dedicated ip address, it made things a little better, maybe getting 2.5 mbps d/l at the most. What am i doing wrong? I have heard something about tomato firmware but am not real familiar with it?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've been having strange problems since I got my DIR 655. Set it up, run through factory wizards, and everything works great for a little while. Maybe week, or as soon as a few minutes I'll lose internet connectivity over wifi. Connection is 100% to the router. I can still log into the router via, but not get out of it to the net. If I plug in my pc via the wired ports everything is still great. Factory reset, and set it up again and It might bee good for a little while. Occasionally I'll get a warning on my PC that there is an IP address conflict when its been on for a long time. I've gone back to my WRT-54g since it still works perfectly. I just want my N bandwidth back. I've gone through and toggled just about every setting that I can think of. Advanced DNS is off.

I've configured my 655 and I can access the internet through it. Network cable from PC goes to the DLINK, DLINK to the DSL modem, DSL modem to the big scary internet. This all works great. Now for the Wi Fi.I've set up the Wi Fi on the 655 and can both see and connect to my newly configured home network from my laptop, but I can not access the internet from the laptop.
I have one laptop and a wifi dongle and a router. I want to receive internet on my wireless device of my laptop and want to broadcast or share internet from wifi dongle(TP-LINK).

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a ASA 5505 that I have been using for a while, but a new ISP is trying to configure my service so that the outside interface has to be configured as DHCP to receive a reserved IP address, and then they will route a separate, non-contiguous block of addresses to that address.
Essentially, they have a DHCP reservation for 1.2.3.4 for my ASA, and then they have 10.2.3.16/28 as a separate block routed to me.
Obviously, I can do my static NAT translations using outside as the address, but I cannot get the separate block of addresses to route through the ASA. Is there a way to do this and get them to work? My ASA is running 7.2(2)

I received this router today, I have a MacBook Pro and a iPhone. The router came with a very small cd, I was very disappointed because , when I purchased this router from amazon , the discription read that this router is Mac compatiable. But that is not true if the cd is not compatiable! My problem is I get a good signal for wifi, but I can not open any websites with my Mac or my iphone.

I've just installed this router today, connected physically 2 PCs, a PS3 and a VoIP and everything works fine !
The problem is with the WIFI connection ! my devices see the WIFI network, they connect, but I cannot connect to the internet ...
What settings Should I turn on/off or any config I should tweak ?
I have not yet completed my CCNA, however I have managed to configure a 1841 router with 1 x HWIC-ADSL1 and it also has 1 x HWIC-AG-AP-A which is the only part I am unable to get working.
The Wi-Fi (Dot11Radio) config has enabled me to see the SSID from wireless devices, but they never get an IP address. I need them to get the same IP range as the DHCP service I have in there 203.35.10.xxx, there is no option for "IP ADDRESS DHCP" only "IP ADDRESS POOL LAN" Lan is of course my DHCP pool name. however I cannot have the same DHCP pool on both Dot11Radio interfaces.
I know I'm missing one very simple command, but as I've never worked with Radio on Cisco equipment, I am unsure how to fix it.
Then once I get that worked out, I need changing the access from OPEN to WPA or WPA2, etc..

Few days ago I faced a issue in which one of ours 4500 stopped providing poe on some ports in one line card. I called TAC and ran some diagnostics. However, there is a command that I found and it is NOT DOCUMENTED on 4500 reference guide! The command is "diagnostic monitor poe". This command actually detects/recover POE hardware failures! After executing this command, poe start to work again?
View 4 Replies View RelatedToday I bought a new TP-Link Wireless Router in China, (TL-WR845N), and set it up with followed instructions with the router IP setup too with 192.168.1.1. Before, it was only LAN and now I bought the wireless to use my iPhone with it. Now LAN wont work at all on either of my computers. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the Ethernet drivers, rebooted/checked the modem and router, but still couldn't get it to work. My Windows XP shows connected, but Chrome says unable to connect to the Internet.
I've checked TCP/IP settings, made it automatic, still nothing.
I find that within my apt I can only get about 32% signal from my shaw Wi-Fi router. They don't support what I want to do.. adding my d-link router to boost or repeat the signal.

View 7 Replies View Relatedim deployment and we have hardwire internet in my room. wanting to use all other devices eg. iphone and what not i bought a router to plug the hardwire in to and run the wifi off the router for all devices. its made by TP-LINK the model is TL-WR940N. it worked great for a while but then kept giving me DNS server is not responding but i could plug the hard cable in my computer and the internet would work fine? so i reset the router and set it all up again like before. Now i cant get it to run wifi off it anymore it recognizes and connect through wifi but no internet and its telling me i need to plud the hardwire in to my internet but my computer is recognizing it and saying i have internet access, but no internet i mean its not even thinking if there is internet.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a D-LINK DIR-300 router with 4 LAN and WI-FI. It's acting very strange lately. It is connected to a UPS battery and the one LAN connection is in surge protection.Here are the symptoms:
-Every 2 days it just loses connection. I have to reboot it so to make the connection working. It's a little bit annoying after awhile.
- One day one of the LEDs started like fading away and came back up (the one that signals the LAN connection).
- When all the LEDs were properly working and the connection was good also, I moved the the power adapter cord a little bit at some part (I didn't plugged it out) and some of the LEDs gone (Internet connection LED and Wireless) but all the other LEDs were working. Of course there wasn't connection either.my OP is Ubuntu 12.04 and the connection DHCP is well configured.
I have D-link 524 router, my problem is that its signals are not being detected ( the devices we connect are ipad 4, htc wildfire S, nokia e-5 . these devices detect other wifi and connect to them.
View 14 Replies View Relatedi recently bought my dir-615 to hook up with my tp- td 8816 modem. After setting it up and successfully working one day, the router randomly stopped sending a WiFi signal. I restarted it twice and it began to work once more. I decided to install dd wrt build 21061 for my E3 dir -615 router. Unfortunately, i could not get it to work. I have dsl internet and my isp uses PPPoE. I used the option for the set up and filled out the appropriate information, but it would not work and the internet light on the router would turn orange.
Unfortunately i decided to play around with this router at the wrong time and the people in my house needed it. I decided to quickly re flash it by going into the emergency room(holding reset button during router reset until orange button starts blinking). However when i select the official d link firmware, it simply will not change. The page is stuck loading on the d-link emergency room page with no progression whatsoever. I tried the process 3 times already.
For some reason, i can connect to the router through WiFi but not through cable. When i connect through WiFi i am on the dd wrt firmware. I don't think i can return the modem to the store since it is clearly on DD WRT firmware.
I'm either looking for a solution to re flashing back to stock firmware, or making the internet work on the dd wrt firmware. The internet light turns orange when i select PPPoE on the set up...
I recently switched from Linksys WRT54G router to MediaLink router. My wired connection speed stayed the same but my wireless speed degraded significantly - roughly from 5-8mbps to 200-300kbps.I measured my wireless speed both on win7 laptop and iPad. My Roku box is also struggling. All devices were in the proximity of the router.I tried changing encryption (WEP/WPA2/no encryption), mode (from b/g/n to b/g to just g), and different channels. Nothing worked, the speed is still very slow.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've got a WiFi router which I'd now like to connect through my Android phone's 3g hotspot. The router is a Trendnet TEW-691GR. The phone: an old Motorola Milestone.
The reason I'm attempting this is the ADSL (or other wireless) in the area is simply tooooooo slooooowww to even consider. I'm lucky to get 40kb/s through the ADSL, but linking through the phone's hotspot allows in excess of 2MB/s - price wise it's not much of a difference. So I thought: "Why not simply use my phone's connection (seeing as I'm paying for it already - uncapped as well), and drop the ADSL contract?"
Only: the router was fine for the ADSL modem. But I'm failing to see how to connect it to the hotspot. I can connect the phone to the router quite easily. But if the hotspot is turned on the connection needs to go the other way round - doesn't it?
Anyhow most of the PC's & Laptops have a wireless connection, so I can directly connect to the hotspot from each of these. This now causes further issues: One of the PCs (I use it as a pseudo server) only has a LAN connection to the router. Also if a laptop is connected to the hotspot it cannot be connected to the router - thus it's incapable of seeing the shares on the "server".
I was thinking of attempting the router's WDS setup, but it requires the MAC address of the other wireless device(s). And for the love of Pete I cannot find the phone's MAC while its hotspot is turned on (simply says MAC address unavailable on the phone). I can find it when the hotspot is off, and have tried using that MAC, then turn the hotspot on and reboot the router - but still it doesn't connect to the hotspot.
I wish to turn my TP-Link wireless router into an access point but can't figure out how to do it. I have tried several times but without any success. Below are my information about my main router and the router I want to turn into an access point:

The laptops and the desktop in my home connect perfectly fine to our wifi, but all other devices like our iPhones, iPads, Nintendo DS, Nintendo Wii, and a 2006 hp laptop will either show a connection, but the connection doesn't actually work, or there will be a broken connection shown to our wifi. All these devices (except the Nintendo devices[only because we haven't tried it out]) will connect and perform on wifi elsewhere.We have a d-link router?
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy internet speeds are 45 Mbps DL and 1 Mbps UL and my various wireless connections (3 laptops in my household) were achieving speeds anywhere from 25-40 Mbps DL. My router started acting up and wasn't letting anyone connect via wifi so I did a factory reset and set it up the same way I did before (as best as I could), it started working fine again but now the speeds on all the devices that are connecting to at are capped at 18 Mbps. A simple speed test shows that no matter what they won't pass 18 Mbps, I am almost 100% certain this is the router and I was wondering what I might have done wrong or what is causing this.

I have owned the TL-MR3420 for about six months and never had any problems with it, 3G connection stable enough and wifi and LAN worked properly without any drops.About one week ago I started experiencing problems. Both wifi and LAN gets disabled and I need to pull the plug and do a hard reset to correct the issue. This only happens after some heavy use, many devices is connected to Wifi, streaming files over the WIfi and so on. A scenario may be the following; there are six devices back home using all using wifi. All of them are not connected at the same time, but four may be; usually three computers and one tablet. The HTPC may do some heavy videostreaming from another computer. When the streaming is over, some devices are shut down then I may lose the WIFI and LAN ability of the router.
I have tried connecting with cable after wifi were lost but no IP address where given to it and connection where refused. This means I have no possibility to access the log file in the router, and after reboot the log file is reset. Router settings is pretty much default.Is my device broken or is there any setting I may tweak with?I have updated to latest firmware and tried to change channel without success.
