View 1 RepliesOur customer has the business needs to authenticate remote users against AD with empty password. I've seen ACS5.1 release note where mentioned about resolved issue: #CSCte72751 #ACS 5.1 drops authentication with empty password.
I tried to authenticate dial-in users through Tacacs and Radius against AD with empty password but without success. ACS points to wrong AD password. Is it possible to authneticate remote users with empty password?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been using a WAG320N for a year or so. I just installed a harddrive to the router and am trying to access the harddrive. One thread I found here has instructions for a Mac. It requires me to login using my browser - 192.168.1.1 - and then logon using my username and password. Huh? What username and password? I have a username and password that I use to go pass the firewall for wireless and wifi connection. Is it the same? I tried it but it didn't work. Is there another username and password for the router? I can't remember what that is, if there was one in the first place. I tried the defaults - linksys and admin - and no joy there either.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have the WRT350N router. to access my usb storage link from within the LAN it asks for user id and password as I want it. but to access it from outside my LAN it just connects without asking for user id and password. My guess is it has something to do with shares and how they are setup. I can't figure out how to set it up so it asks for user id and password when attempting to connect to my storage link from the net?
View 1 Replies View RelatedHaving just upgraded from a WRT54G to a E2500 all I can say is that I'm disappointed with Cisco.Having spent a few hours yesterday trying to resolve issues via Live Chat (ID 130105-001270 & 130105-002081) and spending more time today - I'm truly at wits end. I consider myself pretty knowledgeable with computers and networking.I'm not sure if anyone from Cisco's Tech staff sees these posts but I don't know where else to "complain" in hopes that the next software/firmware update resolves these problem(s).
The first is my router's setup screens are totally open when using my desktop. The desktop is hardwired to the router and has the Cisco Connect software installed. I open the Cisco software and go to advanced settings. There I'm shown what my router's name is and its password. This is really strange - why would you wish to display this information PRIOR to requesting username and password? However, once there you can go right into the setup screens by clicking OK.I have also entered these screens directly without being prompted for username/password by using 192.168.1.1 or my router.local via Internet Explorer 8 or Google Chrome. At other times I am denied access because IE cannot display page.I'm concerned because I can hide the Cisco Connect software however, anyone that uses my desktop has full access to my router via the web or Cisco Connect.
The second issue is that the password to enter the router and allow access to the internet IS THE SAME! When I had my WRT54G running I had one password (8 alpha characters) to enter setup screens. There was a router generated, 16 alpha/numeric character, password to allow outside devices such as laptops, TVs and game consoles access to the internet. When I set this router up I installed the 16 character password originally used so my laptop and Wii could connect without having to fool around with their settings. Everything was fine until I went into administration and changed the password to my old 8 character one. That is when I found out that the router uses this password setting under administration to control access to the internet AND access to the router settings!
I have uninstalled and reinstalled IE 8. I have ensured that my browser's history and caches are clear which they do when I shut IE down. I'm running Windows XP service pack 3 with the "proper" anti-virus and anti-malware software. My system is up-to-date.I have ensured that the router is running the latest firmware 1.0.05 build 2 and software 1.4.11299.0.I have seen other posts suggesting the removal of Cisco Connect however, I feel that this is a bandaid solution.I'm not professing to be a router technician however, I "feel" the problem might be the fact that the password issue is the problem. Since the same one is being used for both accessing the router and having the router grant access to the net, my desktop is allowed to access the setup screens without being prompted for username and password.
I have configured under Administration password policies about password lenght, items to be putted as number, letters and so on.on the second tab is the password expire for users and I configured to expire after 90 days.
I even tried creating a new user and changing a password from an existing user using Apache TOMCAT WAR,I have checked CLOCK of ACS appliance and setted up NTP on our internal NTP servers
even I create a new user or I change the password via Admin GUI or I change the user password via Apache TOMCAT WAR, I have the user being disabled in a few of minutes, half an hour.,As last, with CISCO AnyConnect is possible to warn the user about the password being expireing and if so, the change could be driven via AnyConnect or is absolutely needed a User Hand Task on the Apache TOMCAT portal I setted up with the ACS WAR application?
Is there a way to configure a webpage where end users would go to change their passwords? I would not like to use the network devices themselves with the "change password at next logon" option.
I believe ACS 4.2 has such solution. Does 5.2 have it too?
I am migrating from ACS 4.2 to 5.2. In 4.2 you could assign one user to auth via Internal Database and another user to auth via Radius Token Server. I cannot find how to do this with 5.2. There is a note in the doc that states 'Identity-related attributes are not available as conditions in a service selection policy'. Does this mean that you can only choose one auth method for all users? If it is possible to have multiple methods, how am I able to accomplish this?
View 1 Replies View Relatedhow do i configure user authentication via TACACS on UCS 1.4 with ACS 5.2? My TACACs connection works, and my user authentication is successful, but i can only get read-only rights. I have tried several versions of "cisco-av-pair= role=admin" both as mandatory attributes named role and as cisco-av-pair=role , with "admin" as the value, and i still get read-only.
When i attempt to find any documentation, it only describes ACS 4.2, which is another problem i have with most documentation for new cisco products (i have this exact issue with my NAMs, nothing i do to change the attributes results in successfully logging into the NAM, and all config guides are written in 4.2 speak).
is there any possiblity cisco is going to release some documentation on how to convert 4.2 speak to 5.2 speak?

I have at work a domain of computers. on one of the computers (I have admin rights) I want to share a folder that can be accessed by other computers that are not in the domain. By default accessing that share requires a user/pass. My question is: can I configure something on the computer (running windows 2008 server) to the shared folder so that other computers that are not from the domain will gain access to without user/pass requirement (like a normal share)?
