View 5 Replies View RelatedI just bought a laptop installed with Windows 8. I want to connect my iPhone to the Internet through the laptop. I have tried using Connectify to set up a WiFi hotspot. It works only with WEP and my iPhone can connect to the Internet but my iPhone disconnects from the hotspot after a while and I need to restart my Connectify hotspot, which is really annoying.I googled online and find that I can use the netsh command to set up the hotspot. I run command prompt in administrator mode and type in the following:
netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=adhocnetwork key=password
netsh wlan start hostednetwork
And then I share the wired network through control panel > network connections > ethernet > properties.I connect my iPhone to the hosted network and typed in the password. I see a tick next to the SSID, meaning it can connect to the hosted network.I also check the status of the hosted network. Both IPv4 and IPv6 connectivity show Internet. But when I open Safari on my iPhone, it says no Internet.
I have a Netgear N300 wireless router. My laptop is Sonay Viao, running Windows 7.
This morning my internet was unreliable, and dropping every minute or so. Trying to trouble shoot, I switched the router off then on again. Now I have no wireless signal between my laptop and router. The router doesn't seem to be recognising the security password. I have not changed the password - this is still the original password for the router. Other devices are still talking wirelessly to the router.
I just successfully setup my wireless Netgear router to work with my laptop and desktop. I now want to get my iPhone to connect to it as a WiFi connection. It sees the available network after I enable WiFi, but when it tries to connect, it just says "unable to connect" or something after I input the password.
My current password shows in the Netgear router (through 192.168.1.1) in the "passphrase" field under Wireless Settings, and it's cp6s-n3rb-ziav. This is what I put in the password field for my particular network in the iPhone before it tells me it can't connect.
There is an option on the left column in the router for "Set password," but it's just to change it to something else. If my iPhone won't accept the current one, I don't see why it would accept a new one, and then I'd have to go and change it in the laptop, too. Without knowing if that's the issue, I'm holding off on that for right now.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to connect new iPhone 4S, it goes to the page for all the info (IP address, etc.) instead of just asking for the password input. I've tried disconnecting router and restarting, plugging iPhone into iMac laptop, etc. (PC is hardwired into server and PC laptop, iMac laptop and former iPhone 3 all connected to wifi w/o difficulty.) Went to site of purchase (12/2011) of Lynksys E2500. They suggested might need to download a driver.how to locate and install updates to driver for E2500 to allow connection to iPhone 4S?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having problems with connectivity and my iPhone 5. The Wi-Fi is okay in some parts of my home network, however in others it is abysmmal. When I bring my computer to the places where the iPhone has problems with signal strength/staying connected the computers have full or almost full strength and no problems. I upgraded firmware for the router, spoke with applecare, have reset the router multiple times, and have been trying different channels. I had the phone in with the Apple store where they concluded nothing seems wrong with the hardware. The phone doesn't seem to have problems like this on other wifi networks I have tried. Using a speed test on the iPhone at home in the low connectivity areas results in horrendously poor latency numbers.

This is an old router i bought 3 years back.I'm able to get my iPhone to find the SSID of my router, get connected, but the speed is really slow... It works flawlessly when I first start up my router, after awhile, its so slow, i need to switch to my 3G.I'm wondering it could be the setting issues. Any appropriate settings like the channels, long/short Preamble, transmission rate, basic rate, 4xs mode?

I find it troubling that i would have to pay for additional licensing to use the mobile version of anyconnect.
Is there a third-party app that will allow a secure connection back to my house from my iPhone?

View 1 Replies View RelatedMobile devices are saturating our medium sized enterprise network. Examples of these devices are iPhones, iPads, Kindles, Droids, etc When a device is authenticated on our APMobile wireless network and downloads updates, email, or music our Network bandwidth is consumed. Services/Applications are no longer available, such as VoIP. Basically, this is an internal DoS.I have done some research and an example of this problem is an ARP Storm but currently clients obtain IP addresses form our DHCP server, which acts as a proxy for the clients and if effective against deliberate attempts to craft packets that create ARP Storm. In addition we configured the WLC to disable ARPunicast processing via the CLI.The following link is from Cisco's site. It is the ARPstorm that we originally thought was the cause but after more researching we found it wasn't this exact issue - http:[url]....why iPhones frequently take down our network? Could this be a configuration issue with our firewall (Cisco ASA 5520 running version 8.4(2))?

It seems the router has been reset (as the router name has returned to its original). My laptop can recognise the router, it shows 5 bars signal strength but will not connect. I know the password is correct as my iPhone can connect. I am not too knowledgeable about these thingsI have tried deleting all saved networks and re-booting. I had no problem connecting a week ago.

View 8 Replies View Relatedif any of you are controlling iPhones within your organizations. I was hoping to use JUNOS Pulse licenses on my SA700 to control things, but all they offer for iOS devices is SSL VPN. I can do remote wipes with activesync, but I'm worried about cloud backups of corporate data on mobileme, and setting and enforcing security policies in a scalable way. I know I can manually deploy XML config from the iPhone configuration utility, but that's a bit of a PITA for remote devices (ie other countries) that I'llnever have physical access to.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI owned a dir-600 for 3 months now. for the first 2 months the router has been working perfectly fine. Meaning: my iphone and other devices can connect to wifi with no problem. Just under a month ago, the dir-600 started acting up. I done everything, from resetting router to even calling my dsl provider to check if the problem was with my provider. I also tried connecting my iphone to other wifi and it was able to connect without hassles.
I am not computer-savvy and I've googled everything but nothing seemed to fix the problem. I have attached the traffic statistics of the router. Obviously there is something wrong.
My Iphone 4s will no longer connect to my WRT54G Linksys router. I know it's a security issue because if I disable security, then it connects. I'm using WPA-Personal, AES, Mixed mode.I've already tried resetting the network settinegs on the iphone a couple of times.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI use a tethered iPhone to access the Internet. We live outside of the DSL service area so this is really the only high speed internet connection I have available.Unfortunately the "wireless hotspot" feature of the phone isn't very consistent. I can get all of my computers to connect to my phone this way, but the connection is constantly dropping, and I'm always having to reboot the phone to get the computers to pick it up again. The most reliable way to use the tethering is to just plug the phone in to whichever computer I happen to be using. This does create a problem, though. If I want to print to the network computer or access a file off of one of the other computers I have to manually connect to the wireless router, because that's the only way the computers can talk to each other. In the meantime, though, I can't use the internet because my computer thinks it needs to try to connect to the internet through the wireless router, and when it can't find the internet that way it just tells me there's no connection. Nevermind that my phone is still plugged in, for some reason it doesn't want to use that connection if it can see the router.

View 2 Replies View Related I've came across IP address that aren't enough for some users in the company. The IP addresses are more than enough to cater to the user's notebook or PC. However, some users does not know that there are actually limits to the IP we have, so quite a number of them actually uses their mobile / pads to tap the company's wireless.
I was wondering if i could restrict that particular user from tapping onto the network. I know it sounds a bit impossible because DHCP doesnt have that smart function to block whoever we sees deemed as a "nuisance".
I can not access Windows Live Messenger, it will not connect. I can visit hotmail.com but not delete or send any e-mails. I can also not access Windows Update. When I search for updates it comes back with error 80072EE2. I also have problems accessing secure websites where I need to pay for something, e-Bay, paypal, make payments off Credit Cards. However I can access all websites on my iPhone over the same Wi-Fi. I took the same laptop to 2 other addresses and it works fine at both and able to access all webpages etc!
I am running Windows 7 and have tried IE, Safari and Firefox, all with same problems. I am with o2 home broadband and have been with them for years with no problems. I have replaced the router, and have another new router on the way, but am expecting the same problems! I have tried turning off the firewall, still no luck. I am considering leaving o2 and trying another provider but that will cost me more money.
