I am trying to set up two routers so that I can offer free wireless connectivity via three AP's in three adjoining rooms on a first floor and secured wireless and wired network connectivity in upstairs offices. The setup is like this:
Verizon DSL connectivity..static IP
The gateway modem/router is a Verizon DLink DSL 2750B with three ports connecting to three wired Access Points in three first floor adjoining rooms, and the 4th port connecting to a Cisco E1200 (wireless and ethernet router) located next to the Verizon Dlink. I would like the Verizon DLink to give open wireless connectivity via the access points and also connect to the adjacent E1200 router.
I would like the Cisco E1200 to offer secured wireless and ethernet connectivity to the upstairs offices. (connecterd to the Cisco E1200 is a 24 port Netgear switch.)I have spent considerable time talking with Verizon and Cisco/Linksys but have not been successful in just how to set this up.A former tech actually did have this setup but for what ever reason the settings were reset to factory defaults with no written record as to the necessary settings.

We are a public library and offer an open wireless cloud to our patrons. We are currently having trouble with people connecting to our wireless with the Kindle Touch version 4. Users of the Kindle Fire and older models have no problems with connecting, just this one specific model. We are using Cisco Aironet 1230 Access Points connecting back via LWAPP to a WLC 4402 running code version 7.0.220.0. The clients are receiving their DHCP options from a Windows 2003 server. Besides the standard options we are also pushing the WPAD 252 option.

I have 3 Kindles (2 Kindles with keyboards and 1 kindle touch) that have wifi and they were working fine until our 2Wire router died and we got a new Westell DSL Wireless Gateway from ATT (model: B90-755025-15). All of our other wireless devices are working fine (Ipods, laptop, Ipad) with the new wireless router, but the Kindles will now not connect to our wifi network. I type in the same network key that I did for the other devices but it doesn't work. Amazon said all sofware was up to date on the kindles and it is a problem with the settings on the router because they were working before we got the router. AT&T won't work for me because they say the other devices are working so it must be a problem with the Kindles. Is there a setting I can change on the router or does the Westell router just not work with the Kindles?

I expect to receive a new Kindle Touch w/WiFi next week.I presently have my RR modem plugged to the DIR-655 and one Ethernet cable from the router to the PC and another (a 40' Cat6 Ethernet cable) going from the DIR-655 to a bus and then to an Internet-ready HDTV. I'm able to watch NetFlix streaming movies.I'm wanting to know step-by-step for each setting for my DIR-655 so that I can download books via WiFi to my Kindle Touch from Amazon's library.I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64x Media Center Player?

I originally bought the 615 router because my Net Talk telephone required it. The first Wi-Fi device I used is my Kindle Touch. I have been able to use the Wi-Fi several times since I received the Kindle, but there have now been two failures to connect. The first time I just unplugged the router power and connections, restarted the modem, and rebooted my computer. The Wi-Fi then worked. Now I am experiencing a failure to connect again.
I have noticed that when I restart my computer I have to connect to the internet directly by pulling the cable from the router and putting it from the modem to the computer. This seems to teach the router what it is supposed to do, because when I reconnect the modem to the router the internet starts to work immediately.I have tried changing the password to wireless internet, but my Kindle still will no longer connect. The router is about two years old. [code]No go to the devices and check to see if you see the new SSID name you gave in the router. I should be listed there. Select it and it should ask you for a password, enter the password you gave in the router. The only problem is that my modem does not exactly say "mixed G and N".

We have 25 remote sites that use MPLS back to the company HQ that has one connection to the internet. Also at the HQ we have a seperate ISP connection. The remote sites and HQ have AP's which provide internal company access. We would like to have a seperate Guest WLAN at these remote sites to provide access to the ISP connection at the HQ's. Do we need to have an anchor controller? From documentation I have been reading it looks like anchor controllers are mostly used for networks that have a single connection to the internet and they use the FW to control/ secure the guest and company network from each other. Is there a differnt way of seperating the guest wireless and company wireless network securely from each other but use the same WLC's and AP's??

I am trying to get my parents Kindle Fire to work. They recently purchased a Motorola Modem/Router which is hooked into the desktop and works fine. I want to get their new kindle to work and can not seem to figure it out. Their operating system is Vista which I can upgrade to Windows 7 if that would make it easier. When I click on setup the WiFi part of the installation wizard cd that came with the Motorola it says there is not a network adapter. I know what that is however I do not know why I would need it when the desktop is hooked directly into modem/router and I just need the WiFi for Kindle.

I would like to have a WiFi that can access ONLY the internet. I don't want it to be able to access the local network at all. Is this possible?

I set up my new EA4500 last night, and configured the 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz bands with separate SSIDs (as recommended). While I can see the 2.4Ghz band with all of my devices, I cannot see the 5Ghz band with any of them.I followed the advice given (including the settings shown) on the EA4500 FAQ.Title: Personalizing and connecting to the 5 GHz wireless band on a Linksys Wireless-N routerArticle ID: 21466.Did that *multiple* times, and still nothing. I do have a dual-band capable adapter (Netgear RangeMax WNDA3100 Dual Band Wireless-N Adapter) that I know works on 5Ghz (because I had it working on my old dual-band WDNR3700v1). Similarly, I have PCs sitting less than 20 feet away that were previously able to see the 5Ghz band on my old router, but are now unable to see it on the EA4500.

Basically I am trying to do a bit of a clean up at work and replacing two dlink (home style) ADSL modems with a single Cisco 2901 router with 2 ADSL HWICs. On top of this I want to isolate the 2 connections from each other, that is I don't want to use them as fail-over or anything just as 2 seperate connections. To do this I am using VRF tunnels. So far I have been successful in the global config of the switch and everything works. And when I put the lan, atm and dialer interface into my VRF it connects up all fine.My issue that I am having is that DNS (which is being pulled from the ISP via ppp ipcp dns) seems to just populate the global dns view, not the view I created for the VRF. This results in DNS queries not being able to be resolved but all other traffic is fine (i.e. I can ping and access anything on the net, I just can't resolve names).
If I have 2 ADSL connections, on two VRF tunnels, how can I seperate their DNS information for each connection/VRF tunnel? especially if that information is different as they overwrite the global DNS config each time they connect.... I could (and have successfully tested) statically assigning DNS servers to each DNS view but I would rather rely on each ISP sending their DNS servers as opposed to me hard coding them.

My fiance recently signed up for the Screen-wise Panel for Google research. Basically they monitor your TV usage and your internet usage. As part of the program they installed a Cisco WIFI router. I've got no issue with them logging the sites visited etc but I'm a little worried about them possible collecting private information (banking / work related stuff) that I don't want going out there. According to what I've read what's supposed to happen is they replace your router with the new Cisco router. The "technician" who came in and installed the router was actually a builder and not an IT technician and rather than replace our router he connected the Cisco router into port 4 of our router... I wasn't in at the time.
What I was looking to do is separate Port 4 of my router into a separate VLAN that can access the internet, but not access anything on ports 1-3, or the wireless. However, I want to be able to see everything on port 4 from the other side (in other words I want to see "into" the port 4 VLAN, but don't want them to see out). I also wanted DHCP to assign IP addresses correctly depending on where you were plugged in. In this example the first VLAN (your current router ip address) is going to be on 192.168.1.1, and the second VLAN (the new on we create on port 4) is going to be on 192.168.2.1.This is exactly what I'm looking to do, I could then connect the kids machines / tablets / ipods to the Cisco router and have the main machine and my work laptop on the main router... but I don't have a clue how to do it. </quote> Is this something that I am able to do with the Netgear router I own and is it hard to set up?

My DIR-655 has worked well for 3 months; both Ethernet and wireless. Yesterday I accidentally deleted this WiFi router from my Kindle Fire list of WiFi connections. Now, when I try to re-establish Kindle wireless logon, the router will not accept the previously used password. As a non-techno-geek, I tried to find this in the DIR-655 manual. But it is written in Greek and not oriented to the wireless user. [code]

I bought a Kindle whitepaper that uses Wi Fi. Other than going to a free wi fi location to download Amazon books, I decided to buy a router. Everything seems to be ok at the router end I believe. But when I use the wireless feature on Kindle, type in the password I assigned to the router, it always, I mean always, no matter how many times I set up, reinstall the router, and try to log into Kindle storefront using my kindle, Kindle always returns the message "Incorrect Password". Now I don't have a problem with the router. I'll keep it for future wi fi usage. I have done an installation with no password and can then go to Kindle storefront on the Kindle but that is rather insane to not have a password while I am reading books on Kindle. Why the password I assign to the router isn't working with Kindle after I reset the router (using a paper clip method) and reconfiguring with the new username and password like 5 times already? The username appears ok on the Kindle wireless, just the password doesn't work. I'd like the issue resolved before I buy more wireless products. Great router.
Product: DIR-615
Hardware version: H/W Ver.: I1
Firmware version: F/W Ver.: 9.02NA.

I have the WRT120N. It seems to work for the computer and for Netflix through the BluRay, but I cannot connect my Kindle, my son's Kindle or either my ormy husband's phones anymore. They used to work.
Also, the free trial of Network Magic is over and it can no longer be purchased. Do I really need something like that?

I have WRT54G2 that I've set up my wireless network on. My Kindle, just the basic one, sees and recognizes the network. It has good signal from it. When I attempt to sign in though the Kindle says my password is invalid or it says it just can not connect. I have gone over and checked what I hope are all the settings but to no avail.
