I have 3com router and it is working fine. The issue is that when I am taking the router out of the electricity and reenter it back it will not save my settings and I will have to log in again to change the settings.

View 3 Replies View RelatedOn a Microsoft xp network when we log off or shut down (randomly) users will have their computers lock or freeze at saving settings. The network is school district with around 1000 computers total.
-We think it is an issue with DNS or DHCP but we can not find anything only about our issue.
-It occurs randomly, but seems to target certain machines more. In a lab about 3 quarters of the computers are not affected and the other quarter will have it happen, but not every time. It will happen on student, teacher, and admin accounts.
-It has "spread" to 3 buildings now. At first it seemed to be an issues at one building but over the course of a week two new buildings are affected.
-No major changes in our network over the past month either.
I have a laptop that travels alot to different networks. I go to two differnent networks where I need to enter static network settings (wireless nic). How the heck do you save these settings so I don't have to enter them all the time. I know you can save the network profiles but does this save static settings assigned to the wireless nic?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just recieved a WAP4410N and managed to log in to the web interface. It is not allowing me to change many settings. I try to change the wireless network mode and click on save and it goes back to disabled again.
P.S. I have just upgraded the firmware to 2.0.3.3 and tried to set it back to the factory defaults. neither worked.
What do the broadcom power saving mode settings mean? If power saving mode is enabled, what is the time it takes to go into power saving mode? What does fast mean?

Whenever I enter all the info for a port forward under NAT in the virtual server tab, I click 'save' and nothing happens; chrome and firefox both give the same result.If I go to a different screen after pressing save and then come back to NAT settings, there's no entry updates and no port forwards.Should I install a different firmware (I can't find a newer version to install) or is NAT not supposed to work under PVC2? If I don't enter proper info (like leave the ports blank) I get an error if I press 'save', asking me to finish entering all the required info.
When I change a setup setting and click save settings, most of the time it gets stuck on the "saving..." notification window and eventually I get a "Internet Explorer cannot display the web page" notification. However I have found that if I repeatedly try it eventually it will accept the change. This never happens using the wizards only making manual changes. I am running the camera with a Wi-Fi connection. I am not sure this is a router or camera firmware bug (running V1.12)
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just bought WAP4410N from about 3 days ago, I would like it to work as a wireless repeater to my 3com router model 3CRWDR100A-72. In the router setup page I enabled WDS, made a search for the wireless networks and I found the WAP signal and the router already got its MAC address. I went to AP mode in the WAP4410N, enabled the WDS repeater and made a site search for the router and got its SSID and MAC address.
Although all the above steps, everytime I connect any client to the WAP4410N I can not connect to the internet, all what I got is just the IP of the WAP and subnetmask without any default gateway nor DNS
In addition I tried to setup the WAP as wireless client epeater, but the same thing hapen, I can not connect to the internet through the WAP.
I am using WPA encryption on the router but I did not get any notification to enter the pass key during the setup of the WAP, which is strange for me!
Do I have to change my 3com router to linksys one as the 3com is not compatible with the WAP?

View 1 Replies View RelatedSamsung blu ray BD5700 is not saving the security key to my cisco lynksys router model E1000 after blu ray is powered off. I have spoken with samsung and followed their reconfiguration instructions which did not work. They suggested something was wrong with my blu ray player. I returned the blu ray to the store and exchanged for the same model hoping it was a problem with that device but the new blu ray is doing the same thing. I spoke with cisco lynksys support but they won't assist b/c my lynksys customer support has expired

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am currently attempting to port forward on my Linksys E1200 Router and am not succeeding in saving my settings. I am attempting to open port 25565 though both Single Port Forwarding and Port Range Forwarding, and whenever I click the "save settings" button, I receive a full window message stating that my changes have been saved. Upon clicking this, I return to the previous screen whereupon my changes have been erased and my port has not been forwarded. Linksys E1200 Router not saving Port Forwarding changes.I have tried:
-Restarting the Modem
-Restarting the browser
-Restarting the computer
-Tried to Port Forward through both the Single and Ranged Port Forwarding
I have a 1711 Catalyst router hooked up behind a cable modem. I configured the router, copied running-config to start up-config then wrote it to memory with "write mem". I unplugged router to move it and when I plugged it back in, I had to start from scratch.
Is this normal, or should router be able to save configuration if powered down?
BTW, I'm using Putty to access router console. Is that the hot setup for Windows 7 or is there something better?
I currently am trying to program the config for a 1720 router however i cannot get the config to stick. I boot up to the command prompt put in all the configurations use the "write mem" command and then hard reset the router but when it boots back up I get the initial system configuation dialog.
I have tried booting to the rommon prompt and typing "confreg" and following the prompts keeping all options set to no except for this setting
"enable "ignore system config info"? y/n [n]: Y"
Is set to yes. but when i get to the end of the config it just loops and starts over with
"you wish to change the configuration? y/n [n]: Y"
If i choose yes it loops if I choose no it goes back to the rommon prompt.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have several autonomous 1240ag AP's that I need to enable a second ssid(Guest and VLAN2) for guest access and while I have configured the AP's according to the driections, I am not able to connect to the second ssid(Guest), but it is broadcasting. When I check the logs, I do not even see my laptop or any other device for that matter, trying to authenticate, what am I missing? I can see, connect and get an IP from the first ssid(Production and VLAN1), which is on the native VLAN and my 3COM 3C17203 switch port(14) is tagged for both VLAN's. Although I am sure that this would work better with a Catalyst switch, but it is not in my budget to replace all 4 of these, but I need this to work.

The manual selection option doesn't display an option for the 3Com 3cn3acx556 modem. Do I need an additional driver? If so where can I find it? I've tried the Dell download site and the 3Com and US robotics sites all with no luck.

We assign an IPV4 address to the Cisco SG-300-52. We can successfully ping/web-manage at this address if we do a temporary copper jumper from a 3Com switch to the Cisco. IP address is in the subnet assigned to VLAN7•2) At the 3Com side, the fiber port is set as “hybrid” and is passing VLAN 1 untagged; VLANs 3-8 tagged•3) At the Cisco side, the fiber port is set as “trunk” and is defined with VLAN 1 untagged and VLANs 3-8 tagged.
If I try to change the management interface on the CISCO from VLAN 1 to VLAN 7 (as I would on the 3Com), I lose connectivity over the temporary copper connection•B)
If I remove the temporary copper jumper from the Cisco (keeping the “working” management IP address) and create the fiber link between the 2 switches, I lose connectivity to the management IP , If I set the 3Com fiber port to “access” and make the fiber connection, I can ping the management interface – but of course, I can’t pass the other VLANs to untagged access ports on the Cisco – and it has the fun side benefit of messing with IP management settings on other 3Com switch stacks attached to the 5500G-EI. However, it does demonstrate that we can get network traffic communicating over the fiber link between the 2 switches.
How I can proceed to a) have the management IP address in the IP subnet defined on VLAN 7 while passing the other VLANs to access ports on the Cisco? BTW, I’m a networking neophyte (it’s a very small part of my job and I do it infrequently), so I prefer to use GUI management to CLI options, although I can perform CLI configuration if presented with the right commands.
Our company currently have a 3com 2816 connected to a 3com 4800G through a trunk. The 4800G connects to the PBX and to the ip phones/computers. We are currently using vlan1 (192.168.100.n) for data and vlan 3 (192.168.101.n) for voice , Ip addresses are being issued by a DHCP server. Each user has an assigned IP phone and it has an ethernet port that connects to each computer. This setup has been working properly until I purchased an SG300 and replaced the 3com 2816.
The ip phone is showing a bad gateway and the PC are getting an ip address of 192.168.101 (which is for voice). Theoretically it should work, but what is weird is, it seems the SG300 trunking with the 3com 4800G is not working. Is it possible that it is on ISL mode rather than dot1q?I also saw its running RSTP, should I changed it to classic STP?How do I fix this or what troubleshooting should i do?
The SG300 is configured as a layer 2 switch. Configuration for the trunk below:

I am tryıng to confıgure port base Vlan on 3com S7900E switch. There are already 9 of them confıgured but one is missing and I need to add 1 more. I have done this on cisco routers but cant get my head around 3com commands.

I can get the a PC that connects to a vlan 1 port on thecisco switch to connect to the 3com switch and get connectivity. However, I cannot get anthing on the cisco switch that is on vlan 2 to connect and get dhcp. I am not a 3com guy, so I am not familiar with the command and configs.We have 2 vlans on both switches: Vlan 1 is Admin and Vlan 2 is Student.

But when I check my sh startup all the configuration which I did is displayed. Checked the config-registery too and its 0x2142 changed too 0x2102 still the same problem, when reloading the router all the running config is disappeared.

I assisgned an IP address to the switch some time ago, but never had cause to use it (as it was purhcased as a spare).The problem I have now is that I cannot ping the device or browse to it via IE. Using hyperterminal and the CLI i have attempted to assign the same IP address, but i get a warning along the line of already assigned.I have set IP's to other 3COM model switches without problems. why I cannot ping this device or assist in connecting to it via IE?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have at the core a CISCO 4503 and need to connect various 3COM 3300/4400/4900 access switches thru fiber. The problem is that the Cisco core 4503 switch fails to recognize only the 4900 3com switches ie the link status shows down. The fiber multitude link is tested and OK.The modules on both the switches ie 1000baseSX are also tested and ok.
The Cisco switch has a 6port gb ic with 1000baseSX moules and the 3COM 4900 has a 4-port 1000baseSX module.
