4 Identical PC's But One Cannot Access Network?

Nov 13, 2012

I've got 4 identical Windows 7 PC's but one of the PCs cannot access the others for file sharing and does not have access to the printer which is hosted on one of the other computers.Strangely, all 4 computers CAN access the internet through the one LAN hub and all 4 computers CAN play network games with each other.

D-link Dir-655Connecting Two Identical Wireless Routers On One Network?

Oct 25, 2012

I have the D-link dir-655 wireless router connected at my cable modem and i HAD a d'link switch patched in about 40 feet away. The switch died after 45 days.To solve the problem and extend my network I purchased an identicaldir-655 router to replace the switch. My thought was that i would configure both routers the same and be able to use the same network settings to access the network throughout my house. It didn't work.I even tried changing the IP address on the second router but it did something to the modem. After resetting everything, the original router works again. D'link support says what i am trying cannot be done, but i know it can.

Swapped Identical Routers / Cannot Connect To Wireless Connections

Mar 2, 2013

Virgin media superhub was swapped for a new identical one as some users were unable to connect, but my connection was fine. When i booted my system up after it was configured by virgin I could see all connections but clicking on any "connect" button doesn't yield any form of output from the computer. Password problem? I dont get a response whenever I click "connect" on any of the other 20 wireless connections that i'm picking up, none of them being mine. When trying to add a new network from "network and sharing centre" via "set up a new connection or network" button on the mainpage or "add" button on the "manage wireless networks" tab yields the same, absolutely no reaction from the system. Now, I only add this info for science of deduction purposes, because it is truly baffling me right now, but when i first discovered the problem and went into "devices and printers" in contr panel and "add a device" my computer paused and then BSOD'd.

Things I have tried:

Updated the network card drivers Ran start up recovery - no problems detected after 20x running Logged onto the superhub through another users system and added my mac address to allowed lists, reserved i.p. address - both on and off, all combinations Pressed the wireless card button on the back of my system on and off, repeatedly Disabled/enabled network adapters in device manager Run winsock and dns flushes, ip release and renewals (e.g. things like "netsh int ip reset; netsh winsock reset; ipconfig release;renew)
Each and every troubleshooter All the usual power issues, from setting maximum performance on the network card to unplugging and socketing the router main repeatedly Administrative tools-services-dhcp client-start&auto Tcp/IP protocols-ip and dns configured automatically?

*Haven't tried (last resorts)* Reinstall windows Remove, inspect and possibly replace or just refit network card and factory reset
Give Richard Branson a slap Observations/Details Everyone, EVERYONE else can connect to the network, no problem I have full strength signal to the connection I know the password and it certainly hasnt changed All we did was swap identical routers! Logged into my other windows on a partition (original user account, messy so partitioned and made a clean install, but this was long ago and no network issues ever existed) and have the old exclamation mark over signal bars - troubleshooting it causes nothing, but at least the adding network functions yields results and it says im technically connected to the router - ive tried all noted fixes above on this windows install also.

*ipconfig*

"dhcp server: 192.168.0.1"

Weak Wireless Signal - Connecting Second Identical Router?

Dec 20, 2011

My wireless network signal is great on the first floor, but is weak on the second floor. I have tried different antennas and various locations for the antennas, but with little improvement. I prefer not to purchase signal amplifier. I have a second identical router. Can it be connected to the current router (LAN output) and by way of a cat5 cable, placed on the second floor to boost the second floor wireless signal?

Cisco Wireless :: Mounting Blade For 1142 AP Identical To 2602?

Apr 14, 2013

it seams, that the mounting blade for the 1142 access point and the 2602 access point are identical.

We have ordered the new 2602 with internal antennas for deploying WLAN in a new building, but I never hold this accesspoint in my hands. We have a few mounting blades in spare from the 1142 accesspoint. The question is, can I prepare the mounting of the 2602 access point with the 1142 mounting blade?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3750 - Major Version Mismatch On Identical Switches

Apr 3, 2012

We have bought four identical 3750X switches with identical SW-images: 12.2(55)SE3          C3750E-UNIVERSALK9-M

We initially connected two switches, this resulted in forming a stack. With the other two switches we wanted to do the same thing. However, we received the following message:

%STACKMGR-5-MAJOR_VERSION_MISMATCH: Major Version Mismatch (Local 1 - Received 6) with neighbor-1

Both switches will not see each other and the output of show switch stack-ports shows only one switch and both stack ports as being Down.

I did some digging using the show platform stack-manager all command to find out that three of the 3750X's have the stack version number 1.45 and one has 6.45. This would obviously indicate the reason behind the mismatch, but the SW-versions on all new switches are identical!

Checking the CISCO site explains that mismatching of Major version is critical:

Major Version Number Incompatibility Among Switches

Switches with different major Cisco IOS software versions usually have different stack protocol versions. Switches with different major version numbers are incompatible and cannot exist in the same switch stack.

That's all I could find. Nothing about changing the major version number, so all I can suspect is that IOS version needs to be the same.

Access Internet Using Wireless Network And Printer Using Separate Wired Network At Time?

Apr 4, 2012

I have 4 computers (3 laptops, 1 desktop) in a shared office. We get internet access using their wireless network. All works fine. However, I need to share a printer amongst all of the computers. The printer is LAN enabled and I would normally just put all the PCs on a hub, together with the printer and share it that way. BUT my question is can we access the internet using the wireless network and the printer using a separate wired network at the same time?

Home Network :: Red X Over Network Icon / Have Internet Access?

Jun 30, 2011

I have been using a laptop to stream videos through my xbox for over 2years until recently. I setup a wireless network in the house to do this. All was fine until 3 days ago.I use a Dell Inspiron 1545 with Windows 7. I have a Dell Wireless 1397 Minicard, a cisco router (model #2425). Since my laptop was infected by Malware, my network has not worked since. I downloaded Malwarebytes Anti Malware to get rid of it and it appeared to work. I got internet access back. However, I still cannot connect to my network (visible in the Available Network list as normal) or stream any media.Windows Media Centre also has stopped opening and gives me the small box saying 'windows is checking for a solution', then closes with nothing. I can however open WMC if I right click and 'run as administrator'?! I have disabled all other network adaptors, only the Dell minicad is enabled and also tried disabling and enabling this main one with no effect. All problems point to the fact that my laptop can no longer connect to the home network but I cant figure out why?!Another (possibly unrelated) problem is occuring at boot up where I get an error message saying 'Bluetooth Software License not found. [2]' - Again this never happened before the Malware infection.

Home Network :: Can See Network Share But Not Access Folders?

Aug 30, 2011

I have bought a new laptop and added it to my home network , two pc's and two laptops all running win 7. I share all drives on all machines. I know this is not very professional but it works for me.From the new laptop I can see all the network and see all the different drive folders but can only access the user folder on any PC from the new laptop. Also I can see the drives on the new laptop but only access the new laptops user folder from any other PC. I have checked this through a LAN cable and wireless with no difference. As the other PC's can see each other as normal I can only think there's a problem with the set up in the new laptop. I also note when I first try and access any other pc from the new laptop I am asked a domain name and password , I can put anything in these boxes and get to see the network but as I said above only access the user folders. I do have password access turned of.

I tried the IP address in the address bar as well (still no go). Cannot "ping" the IP address either. I reset my modem and router as well. Cleared cache in browsers as well. I also disabled firewall and anti-virus for testing.

Linksys Access Point :: WRT54G - Unable To Find Access Point In Home Network

Aug 29, 2009

I just bought an LG Bluray DVD player (BD390) which is unable to find the access point in my home network. My router is a WRT54G, ver. 2.2, running firmware: Ver.4.21.1.  My home network uses high speed cable with two computers on the wireless network, all working with no problems. The router is on the second floor but the two computers and the new BD390 are on the first floor - about 35 feet away. I have the wirelss security set to none and use only the specific computer MAC addresses to allow connection to this network.

I found directions in the forum for a setup using the LG BD390  but with a different Linksys router. I changed the security to WPA (AES); the Beacon interval from 100 to 75; the Fragmentation Threshold from 2346 to 2304; and the RTS Threshold  from 2347 to 2307. The DVD wireless connection still failed to find my network. There is a "Push button" connection feature on the BD390 setup which I tried, but the only "button" on the router I could find was in the basic wireless setting, a green icon for the wireless SSID setup. No connection was made there either.

The recommendation connection from the LG manual is for a network cable, but that would be over 50 feet and a real pain to connect, so I would prefer WiFi.

Home Network :: Access Network From The Outside Without NAT?

Dec 5, 2011

My problem is that I am working for a small company that rents an office in a building. The building itself has its own static, public IP address with a very good quality of connection. However, I cannot access my computer from the outside, since the Owner of the building didn't allow the network Guy to forward few ports to my router. They offered us some public ip addresses which cost about 3x more than when you get it for a home connection. It's way too expensive. Now my question is that - what could be done to still access the computer/router. I should mention, that we already own a room in another place, where we have our private server with public ip. I have already tried to set up an ssh tunneling (ssh tunnel was set in that another place) and it worked, however it introduces delays. Is there any lightweight solution to my problem, like something that could use that another-place-server just to connect the client, and then server redirects the client to the created socket - also without any encryption.

Hub Does Not Allow Access To Network?

Sep 6, 2011

I have a linksys router / internet gateway with about 5 ports. The internet works when connected directly to one of these ports, but when I connect this port to a Trendnet hub and my laptop to the hub also, then the internet stops working. Yesterday afternoon I plugged in one of these hubs (usually disconnected for this reason) and it worked all afternoon, but at night, I could not access the router. I could, as said access the router via the direct connection.

When I was younger, I remember that some hubs had an uplink port on them aside from the normal ports. This hub does not have one of these. I am wondering if someone firmiliar with networking knows why this could be happening - is it just a bad hub? I am presently using the same brand and model hub at my work and it is fine, so why would I buy another hub?

Why Can't Access Wireless Network

Jul 14, 2012

Okay, I have a Netgear wireless router that prior to today was working fine. Earlier my wife was trying to access the network and it was nowhere to be found. Then after I restarted the computer I saw the network with poor signal strength then after a minute or two I couldn't see it. Next, I pressed the reset button on the back of the router and gave the router the default settings of wpa-psk, changed the wireless name and created a new pass phrase. After that course of action I now see my network with strong signal strength. I enter the passphrase to logon and I get a message stating that Windows cant access this network. Also, I read online I could go to the manufacturer and update the firmware but I haven't done this manually since I've had the router 08?

No Or Limited Network Access

I am sharing a network with someone upstairs. They have a wired connection since they are close to the router - I'm using wireless.Routinely get 'No Network Access' or 'Limited Access' or 'No Internet' in the Wireless Network Connections box on my laptop and desktop. The person from who I am renting said it was a range issue. I purchased a range extender that plugs into the wall. This problem still persists, even for my laptop that I can take closer to the source. If I release the IP and renew it I can get a connection back but it usually craps out unexpectedly. This makes me think it's not a range issue, especially with the extender. When I look at an IP config report I notice "DHCP Enabled: No" and "Autoconfig. Enabled: Yes". I am not sure if I am sticking my nose in the right area with this last bit of information.
